Based on the concept of modern society as a “socio-cultural mosaic” the authors highlight different factors influencing the formation of identity, as well as consider the main forms of identity of modern man. Particular attention is paid to the problems that arise for the nation-states and traditional social institutions in the process of influencing the identity formation of their citizens. \u0000Objective: to highlight the factors influencing the process of modern man’s identity; to identify the main types of personal identity emerging in the modern world; to identify the problems that arise for nation-states and traditional institutions in the process of identity formation of their citizens. \u0000Method and methodology of work: we used phenomenological, typological methods of research, as well as the approach of social constructivism of T. The authors consider speech characterization as a selection of words, expressions and turns of speech, acting as a means of artistic representation of actors. The functions that perform the speech features of the character are discussed in the work. The authors analyze the ways of translating the speech characteristics of the characters of D. Mitchell’s work Black Swan Green into Russian, comparing two existing translations by T. Borovikova and A. Polyarinov. \u0000Purpose. To identify ways of translating the speech characteristics of the characters by the example of translations of the work of D. Mitchell Black Swan Green, performed by T. Borovikova and A. Polyarinov. \u0000Materials and methods. The material of the research is David Mitchell’s novel Black Swan Green, as well as its translations into Russian, made by Tatiana Borovikova and Alexey Polyarinov. The article deals with analyzing potential neologisms in the English language for the period of 2021–2022, aiming to establish their relevance to a certain part of speech, determine their thematic focus and describe the most productive ways of creating potential neologisms in modern English. \u0000Methodology. The basic research methods of this work are the method of continuous sampling from a lexicographic source; semantic and word-formation analysis of dictionary definitions; the method of statistical data analysis. \u0000Results. Vocabulary, being the most mobile component of the language, constantly reacts to the processes and phenomena of the surrounding reality by creating new lexical units designed to replace traditional speech patterns, to conceptualize new phenomena of reality. The vast majority of potential lexemes are nouns or phrases in which the main role belongs to this particular part of speech, proving that the main function of new word formations is nominative. The analysis made it possible to identify 17 thematic groups, which include potential neologisms: “climate, the environment”, “society”, “medicine and diseases”, “technologies”, “work”, “hobbies, recreation, entertainment”, “sports and healthy lifestyle”, “business”, “food and drinks”, “housing, building and architecture”, “transport”, “literature, music, art”, “clothing, jewellery, fashion”, “crime”, “animals”, “education”, “space”. The study also showed that the most productive ways of forming new lexical units are compounding, merging and affixing, while reduction turned out to be a little less common, and conversion, borrowing and onomatopoeia proved to be the least productive. \u0000Practical implications. The points of views to the nature of law often depend on the philosophical position taken by a particular philosopher or group of philosophers. As a result, legal philosophy becomes the object of heated discussions, the main feature of which is reduced to the question of what is due and being, i.e. can and should positivist law replace the traditional values developed by mankind as regulators of behavior and relationships. \u0000Purpose. The purpose of the article is to determine the relationship between the philosophy of law as a “special” or “private” discipline and “general” philosophy. The subject of the study is the philosophical ideas of a rational approach to law as a practice. \u0000Methods. The research method is the analysis of scientific literature and philosophical reflection. \u0000Conclusions. In the philosophy of law the decisive factor is not so much its attitude to general philosophy, but the relationship between the philosophy of law and the law itself. \u0000Results. The effectiveness of the work done lies in the fact that the findings allow us to consider the philosophy of law as a practical philosophy. The authors use methodological tools based on the application of general scientific methods (modeling, interpretation) and specific methods (linguistic reconstruction of culture, language and culture commentary). \u0000Results. Having analyzed the features of proverbs and sayings of the German and English cultures, formed in the course of historical, cultural and linguistic interaction, the authors singled out the peculiarities of the worldview, character and beliefs of the Germans and Englishmen. Yavari","doi":"10.12731/2077-1770-2022-14-3-235-253","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.12731/2077-1770-2022-14-3-235-253","url":null,"abstract":"Background. The researchers’ task is to determine in due time the main trends leading to changes in languages, their structures in order to be able to influence negative phenomena, turning them into positive dynamics. \u0000Purpose. The purpose of the study reflected in this article is to establish the main methods and techniques for translating realia in a fiction text as well as to highlight the features of the transfer of Sovietisms from Russian into English and German and identify the difference in the transfer of the same lexeme from one language to another in a verbal and verbal-non-verbal environment. \u0000Materials and methods. Analyzing and comparing the translations from Russian into English and into German of the novel Heart of a Dog by M.A. Bulgakov and the film directed by V.V. Bortko of the same name Heart of a Dog , we can assert that translators, using many of the means and methods of conveying the realia in translation, sometimes agreeing in opinions, sometimes choosing different ways, giving preference to the means most appropriate to the specific perception of the works, most often choose such ways of conveying Sovietism as calcification, transcription, in most cases in the form of «vocabulary» transcription, which makes it possible to talk about the use of equivalents, functional analogue and replacement. \u0000Results. The data in the article demonstrate the difference of realia translation of the novel and its film adaptation. Kyrchanoff","doi":"10.12731/2077-1770-2022-14-3-48-73","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.12731/2077-1770-2022-14-3-48-73","url":null,"abstract":"Purpose. The purpose of the article is to deconstruct the constructed “historical” narrative in contexts of the social, political and economic features of the feudalism of the world of the Seven Kingdoms, imagined in the imitated narration of the American writer George Martin, presented in his novels that make up the “A Song of Ice and Fire” cycle. \u0000The novelty of the article lies in the study of the features of the social and economic history of the imagining medieval world of the Seven Kingdoms. \u0000Methodology. Methodologically, the article is based on the principles of interdisciplinary historiography proposed in intellectual and cultural histories, as well as in the study of medievalism as a synthetic form of mass ideas about the Middle Ages in modern consumer society. \u0000Results. It is assumed that George Martin proposed a model for the development of medieval society. The political relations and institutions described by G. Martin have parallels with those social forms of organization that arose and developed in the Medieval West. Therefore, in contexts of social history, the society described by George Martin can be defined as feudal. Critically analyzing George Martin’s texts as sources and deconstructing the narratives that form them, the author presumes that in the Seven Kingdoms the processes of feudal revolution led to the formation of a system of relations of vassalage and suzerainty. To determine the attitude of the participants of this interaction themselves, believers and scientists, a sociological study was conducted. \u0000Purpose. The purpose of the study was to research the attitude of representatives of religious denominations of modern Russia to science and the scientific community. Achieving this goal involved studying the attitude of representatives of religious denominations to the scientific community, to science as a way of knowing reality, to the conflict between science and religion, as well as to the possibility of scientific proof of religious beliefs. \u0000Materials and methods. The main research method was an expert survey, which was conducted in the form of an in-depth interview and a questionnaire survey. A total of 23 experts were interviewed, who were divided into two groups representing biblical and Eastern religions. \u0000Results. Based on the analysis of the results obtained, it was concluded that of the three points of view on the relationship between religion and science, the position of conflict is the least popular. However, there are more supporters of the idea of a conflict between religion and science among representatives of biblical religions than among representatives of Eastern religions. The point of view that asserts the possibility of a synthesis of religion and science is also not widespread, and is typical mainly for representatives of Eastern religions who have deep knowledge in the field of natural sciences. Magsumov","doi":"10.12731/2077-1770-2022-14-2-14-60","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.12731/2077-1770-2022-14-2-14-60","url":null,"abstract":"Research purpose is to analyze the structure and specifics of financing secondary vocational education in Russia in the late 19th – early 20th centuries. \u0000Method or methodology for work performance: the main method is a historical-genetic one; descriptions include quantitative indicators identified in statistical sources. \u0000Results: the practice of multi-channel financing of secondary vocational schools in late imperial Russia was based on the state-public principle through co-financing, taking into account an organizational-legal form and departmental affiliation of different types of schools, which was reflected in the introduction of public financial reporting of educational institutions. As a result, residual school funding was more sustainable, which was also supported by the high share of tuition fees in school budgets. Acting as a mechanism of social segmentation, it largely hampered the search for external financial resources in the state school, weakening the interaction between the school and the local society and, on the contrary, activating these processes in the non-state school, at the same time it strengthened market mechanisms for relationships with customers of educational services, reducing the quality of education for the future by increasing and maximizing the retention of the contingent of students. The stability of tuition fees, partly regulated by direct state intervention, but restrained by the growth of competition to a greater extent, along with the expansion of charitable practices by transferring them to support not only schools in general, but also individual students, weakened the social segmentation of the school institution, creating conditions for the growth of human capital. The sources of self-sufficiency for production-type schools were insignificant, even in agricultural schools, which training farms could not be converted to a commercial footing. Studies in the field of musical translation and opera compositions were considered, difficulties that an interpreter may face were identified. Using the example of N. Tate’s libretto for the opera “Dido and Aeneas”, the texts of the recitative and Dido’s aria were analyzed, as well as the ways of its translation into Russian. \u0000Background. To achieve adequacy in the translation of musical compositions, in particular opera librettos, translators resort to the use of various types of transformations. On basis of the libretto for the opera “Dido and Aeneas”, the analysis of Y. Dimitrin’s translation is carried out. \u0000Purpose. To identify and analyze the translation transformations of Y. Dimitrin’s libretto of the opera “Dido and Aeneas” in comparison with the literal translation. \u0000Materials and methods. The research material was G. Purcell’s opera “Dido and Aeneas” and its translation into Russian. During the analysis of the material, the method of analysis and synthesis of theoretical scientific material on the topic under study, as well as the comparative method were used. \u0000Results. The results of the study proved that due to the difference in the structures of languages, the interpreter faced a number of problems in translation of the recitative and Dido’s aria of the opera.
