The aim of the paper is to outline Chinese parts of speech and their description in Russian missionary grammar books, such as A Grammar of the Chinese Language by Archimandrite Iakinf (Hyacinth) Bichurin, A Reference Grammar of Chinese by Hieromonk Isaiah (Polikin) and The Basics of Chinese Grammar (adjusted to Russian) by Archimandrite Amphilochius (Lutovinov). Научная новизна исследования заключается в том, что впервые проведен сопоставительный анализ метафорического потенциала терминов латинского, английского и русского языков на материале терминосистемы «Анатомия центральной нервной системы (ЦНС)». В результате анализа выборки терминов, полученной из справочника по международной анатомической терминологии, был сделан вывод о том, что терминология ЦНС в латинском языке образовывалась преимущественно метафорически. Английский и русский языки разными способами осуществляли заимствование латинских терминов: в русском языке преобладает калькирование и перевод метафоры, а в английском языке — прямое заимствование с сохранением исходной формы слова. Авторы статьи полагают, что при работе с медицинскими текстами на английском языке переводчикам необходимо обращение к этимологии анатомических терминов, чтобы понимать внутреннюю форму языковых единиц. При переводе специальных текстов переводчику очень важно не только правильное понимание термина и обозначаемого им научного понятия, но и умение запоминать большое количество новых понятий. Знание метафоры, лежащей в основе номинации и терминообразования, улучшает запоминание новых терминов и понимание заключенного в них значения, что повышает качество перевода. The present article considers the metaphorical method of term formation in the context of teaching specialized medical translation. The scientific significance of the study lies in the comparative analysis of the metaphorical potential of terms in Latin, English and Russian languages carried out on the material of the term system “Anatomy of the Central Nervous System (CNS)”. The analysis of the sample of terms obtained from the international anatomical terminology reference book resulted in the conclusion that the terminology of CNS in Latin was formed mainly metaphorically. English and Russian languages borrowed Latin terms in different ways: in the Russian language calquing and translation of metaphor prevail, and in the English language – direct borrowing with preservation of the original form of the word. The authors believe that when working with medical texts in English, translators need to refer to the etymology of anatomical terms in order to understand the internal form of linguistic units. When working with specialised texts, it is very important for the translator not only to have correct understanding of the term and the scientific concept it denotes, but also to be able to memorise a large number of new concepts. Установлено, что с невысокой, но устойчивой частотностью прагматика императивных высказываний оригинального русскоязычного текста передается в английском переводе при помощи модальных глаголов to have to, can, should, must, can и т. д., что указывает на способность деонтического высказывания функционировать в качестве коррелята императива. Таким образом подтверждается идея о равноценности на семантическом, функциональном и прагматическим уровнях императивных и деонтических высказываний, проявляемой в определенных контекстах, что, в свою очередь, подтверждает возможность рассматривать императив в рамках деонтического дискурса. Описание случаев перехода императивного высказывания в высказывание с деонтическим модельным глаголом при переводе представлено в рамках категорий актов побуждения, оформленных при помощи императива. This article presents the results of the survey of selected microcontexts from the literary works of the authors of the Russian North and their English translations representing relationships between imperative utterances and utterances formed with the use of various modal verbs in their deontic meaning. It is established that, with certain frequency, pragmatics of the imperative utterances from the original Russian texts are rendered in English translation by means of modal verbs, such as to have to, can, should, must, can etc. which indicates the ability of a deontic utterance to function as a correlate of an imperative. This confirms the idea of semantic, functional and pragmatic equality between imperative and deontic utterances, found in certain contexts, which, in its turn, confirms feasibility of considering the imperative as an element of the deontic discourse. Это явление относится к одному из наиболее часто встречающихся феноменов живой речи, однако его изучение началось не так давно и по-прежнему далеко от принятия единой универсальной теории, тем более в приложении к восточным языкам, в нашем случае к китайскому. В статье обсуждаются сложившиеся в лингвистике подходы к дифференциации эллипсиса и синтаксического нуля. Принято считать, что системы полного и неполного предложений существуют в качестве альтернативных способов представления одной и той же информации о фрагменте внеязыковой действительности в любом естественном языке. При формировании неполных синтаксических структур в высказывании эксплицитно выражается наиболее актуальная информация, тогда как менее важная, менее актуальная информация или уже известная имплицируется. Синтаксическая неполнота может также обуславливаться формализованностью ситуации, в которой реализуются такие высказывания. Представляется актуальным в свете теории синтаксической неполноты обсудить проблемные моменты предлагаемой в китайской грамматической теории классификации односоставных предложений на предмет дифференциации эллиптических конструкций, являющихся по сути ситуативно-неполными, и теми структурами, в которых заполнение синтаксических позиций затруднено или даже невозможно. The article aims at revealing the so-called “meaningful syntactic absence” in the Chinese language. This phenomenon belongs to one of the most common in live oral speech; however, its study began not so long ago and is still far from accepting a universal theory, especially when applied to languages not yet studied in depth, Chinese for instance. The article discusses the approaches that have developed in linguistics to the distinguishing of ellipsis and syntactic zero. It is generally believed that complete and incomplete sentences offer alternative ways of presenting the same information. When forming incomplete syntactic structures, the most relevant information is overtly expressed in the utterance, while less important, less relevant or familiar information is only implied, which allows the speaker to avoid redundant repetitions in particular syntactic contexts. Syntactic incompleteness can also be caused by the formalized features of the situation in which such statements are realized. Анализ референциальной области терминов «интертекстуальность», «интердискурсивость», «интермедиальность», используемых в научных работах для описания внутри- и межсемиотических взаимодействий, проводится с учетом того, что становится предметом изучения в каждом конкретном случае. В статье обосновывается использование термина «интермедиальность» в отношении театральных и кинопостановок пьес, включающих визуальные и текстовые цитаты для создания образности; уточняются контекстуальные возможности использования соположенных терминов «интертекстуальность» и «интердискурсивность». The article focuses on different types of intra and intersemiotic interactions that take place in the arts as communication. The aim of the research is to specify three notions used to describe intra and intersemiotic transformations, references and parallels, namely: intertextuality, interdiscursivity, intermediality. The author makes an attempt to define similar, as well as unique, characteristics of intertextual, interdiscursive and intermedia processes in the theatrical performance viewed as one more modelling system after a play as a secondary modelling system according to Yu. Lotman. The theoretical assumptions are illustrated with the help of plays written by Russian and British playwrights of the 20thand the 21st c. (S. Beckett, V. Mayakovskij, L. Andreev, E. Shwarts, D. Danilov, etc.), theatrical and cinematic performances based on these plays. The results prove that the notion of intermediality can be used in relation to theatrical discourse in which different semiotic systems (theatrical codes, media) are interconnected in order to enhance semantic projections and achieve desirable pragmatic and aesthetic effects. The paper describes the process of translating an Orthodox theological text — “Fundamentals of the social concept of the Russian Orthodox Church”. The text is broad in content, sophisticated in language, and, therefore, it offers a lot of challenges for translators. Модель перевода и стратегия перевода рассматриваются в рамках единой системы, выстраиваемой с учетом уровней текста, дискурса, коммуникации и действительности. Дискурсивно-коммуникативная модель перевода совмещает текстоцентрический (лингвистический), коммуникативный (функциональный) и когнитивно-деятельностный подходы, применима в письменном и устном переводе, дидактике и исследовании перевода. Отвечая на вынесенный в название статьи вопрос, автор описывает структуру и содержание модели, введенное в научный оборот понятие дискурсивного досье, схемы детерминации и разработки стратегии перевода. The article offers a brief overview of approaches to discourse analysis and translation analysis in order to demonstrate the possibilities of employing discourse categories in the translation process using the example of the discourse and communication translation model and to substantiate the development of discourse-based translation modeling as an independent line of research. The translation model and translation strategy form an integral system built around the levels of text, discourse, communication, and reality. The discourse and communication translation model combines text-focused (linguistic), communicative (functional) and cognitive activity approaches, and is applicable in translation and interpreting, translator and interpreter training, and translation research. Исследование выполнено в русле переводческой ономастики и сравнительно-сопоста-вительного направления в лингвистике. Осетинская сакральная онимная лексика (теонимы, экклезионимы, агионимы, агиоантропонимы, агиотопонимы, геортонимы) недостаточно изучена с позиции семантических и лингвопрагматических характеристик экклезионимов Южной Осетии, лингвокультурного фона их появления, особенностей их объективации в общественной коммуникации, способов переводческой интерпретации. Исследование содержит классификацию сакральной онимной лексики и перечень наиболее известных экклезионимов Южной Осетии с вариантами их переводческих соответствий на русском и английском языках. Новизна представленного материала определяется тем, что это первый опыт рассмотрения этномаркированных экклезионимов с точки зрения выбора стратегии и способов их передачи средствами переводящих языков. Сакральные онимы представляют значительный интерес с точки зрения мотивированности, отражения функциональных и прагматических характеристик божеств в названии культовых сооружений и сакральных мест и могут послужить источником изучения истории, культуры, менталитета осетинского народа. The present research was carried out in line with the comparative approach in linguistics, translation onomastics. It views the issues of translating Ossetian ecclesionyms into the Russian and the English languages. Ossetian sacral onymic vocabulary (theonyms, ecclesionyms, hagionims, hagioanthroponyms, hagiotoponyms, geortonyms) has not been sufficiently studied in terms of semantic and linguo-pragmatic characteristics of South Ossetian ecclesionyms, the linguocultural background of their appearance, specificity of their usage in public communication and methods of translation. The research gives the classification of different types of sacral onyms and the list of the most famous sacral names of South Ossetia with their translation correspondences in the target languages. The topicality of the research is determined by the fact that this is the first experience of considering ethno-marked ecclesionyms from the point of view of the translation strategy choice and methods of translation. Калинин","doi":"10.37724/rsu.2023.66.3.006","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.37724/rsu.2023.66.3.006","url":null,"abstract":"На основе критического анализа гетерогенных подходов к определению содержания понятий «адекватность перевода», «переводческая норма», «аудиовизуальный жанр» в статье постулируется ряд гипотез, касающихся вопросов оценивания качества перевода в аудиовизуальных массмедиа. Адекватность рассматривается не только как факт соблюдения в процессе и результате перевода прескриптивных эквивалентностных, стилистических и прагматических норм, но и как интегральная характеристика текста и формы предъявления перевода реципиентам, ключевым параметром которой выступает соответствие переводного контента предполагаемым ожиданиям получателей. Среди последних значительную роль играют жанровые ожидания. Отмечается, что, несмотря на неоднозначность теории жанров применительно к типологизации отдельных массивов текстов, в том числе и артефактов телепублицистики, концепция жанра расценивается как продуктивная в транслатологической перспективе. Научная новизна исследования определяется тем фактом, что в его рамках впервые изучаются жанровые критерии адекватности перевода материалов аудиовизуальных СМИ (международных телеканалов). При этом лингвопереводческий анализ параллельных текстов ставит своей целью не оценку отдельных фрагментов перевода с эрратологических позиций, а выявление рекуррентных переводческих стратегий, тактик и приемов, которые предлагается рассматривать как решения, направленные на достижение адекватности. Тем самым реализуется дескриптивный подход к изучению практики аудиовизуального перевода. Эмпирическим материалом для наблюдений послужила выборка оригинальных аудиовизуальных медиатекстов телепрограмм жанра фичер и результатов их языковой локализации, а также аудиовидеозаписей синхронного перевода телевизионных пресс-конференций. Исследование показало, что в процессе межъязыкового перевода и подготовки материалов аудиовизуальных СМИ к трансляции осуществляется ряд переводческих и технологических операций, целью которых является сохранение или воссоздание жанровых особенностей произведения при переносе в иноязычную среду. Proceeding from a critical analysis of heterogeneous approaches to the definition of the concepts “translation adequacy”, “translation norm”, “audiovisual genre”, the author suggests a number of hypotheses concerning the assessment of adequate translation of audiovisual media content. Adequacy is considered not only as the fact of compliance with prescriptive equivalence, stylistic and pragmatic norms in the process and as a result of translation, but also as an integral characteristic of the text and the form of delivery of translation to recipients, the key feature of which is compliance of the translated content with the intended expectations of recipients. Genre expectations play a significant role among the latter.
