The authors analyse the existing interpretations of the concepts of ‘communicative strategy’, ‘communicative and information competency’, ‘communication’ and ‘foreign language communicative culture’. The paper presents the fundamental principles of communicative strategy planning and describes the optimal methods and approaches to foreign language teaching at non-linguistic institutions of higher education in the city of Sevastopol. The research comprises the results of pedagogical study in foreign language teaching of bachelors of non-linguistic majors on the basis of Lomonosov Moscow State University Branch in Sevastopol and Institute of Social Sciences and International Relations of Sevastopol State University. The key components of communicative and information competency are identified. Communication strategy is worked out according to the peculiarities and features that should be taken into account when planning the process of foreign language teaching of bachelors. The authors consider the specifics of foreign language professional training planning of bachelors at non-linguistic university in the context of the implementation of the Federal State Educational Standard of Higher Education of the new generation. The necessity to focus on the aspects of foreign language professional training considering fundamental objectives, tasks, outcomes and learning needs of bachelors is emphasized. The following aspects are analyzed: the drawing procedure and the participation of imperial officials in the draw ceremony, the classification of athletes, the order of chariot races, the rules of their supporter cheering (acclamations), the connections between these actions and the imperial cult, the seating layouts for various categories of spectators in the stands. The process of breeding and treating racehorses is examined. The unique Byzantine racing practice – the diversium – is described. Special attention is given to safety precautions during races. The largest competitions are characterized. The system of remuneration of professional athletes is studied. The main source of information on the organization of sports competitions in Byzantium is the treatise of Emperor Constantine VII Porphyrogennetos (945 – 959) “De Ceremoniis aulae Byzantinae” which contains an extensive on the Hippodrome of Constantinople. The purpose of the article is to consider the organizational and content aspects of the translator / interpreter training system. The sources of the material were the official websites of Chinese universities, testing system bodies, The Association of Chinese Translators / Interpreters and the results of surveys conducted by scholars. The article presents a characteristic of the following problems: a lack of translation / interpretation training focused on the work in a specific subject area; a lack of linking between bachelor’s and master’s degrees programmes; an insufficient intensity of international scientific exchange and a limited admission to the participation in translation / interpretation competitions. The article also suggests several ways of solving the identified problems. Following Bloh, we treat the interjection as a class of functional words within the system of the parts of speech. We believe that the interjection comprises two kinds of units: the ones in the form of a word, a phrase or a sentence used to express emotions and volition (‘interjections proper’) and those used in the function of the interjection (‘interjection-like units’). In accord with that, two subtypes are distinguished: ‘adjectival interjections’ and ‘adjectival interjection-like units’. Both subtypes were analyzed using different linguistic methods in terms of their form, meaning and function in dialogues and monologues taken from British and American novels of the late 20th – the early 21th centuries. The study revealed a tendency to use interjection-like units more often than interjections proper, which can be explained by the fact that interjection-like units allow speakers not only to express their emotions, but also to express their attitudes towards the thing or person in question. Interaction between texts types of the media discourse and the status of economic vocabulary units is established. The author describes functioning and specific features of economic vocabulary in texts of news, on-line articles and advertisements. A certain range of addressees , theme peculiarities and functions determine lexical and semantic originality of the texts of economic news, on-line articles, and advertisements. The main function of news is informative function. Therefore, the main lexical units are denotative elements of semantics: economic terms and economic realias. The author describes three functions of media discourse: informative, evaluating, and suggestive. Different recipients, subject features, and predominance of one of the functions determine lexical and semantic originality of the mass media article. One of the main functions of the advertisement is impact function. According to this function there are economic symbols, concepts, and different stylistic devices in the texts of economic advertisements. The relevance of this work lies in the need to find out the means of expressing emotional information in specialized professional-oriented texts for subsequent adequate and equivalent translation. The purpose of this work is to study ways of transmitting emotional information when translating a special text. The article provides an analysis of the literature on the research topic, as well as an analysis of theoretical approaches to the study of emotional information in the text. General scientific and linguistic methods (analysis, comparison, contextual analysis, structural-semantic and lexical-semantic analysis) were used as research methods. The authors study approaches to translating special texts, analyze the functions of emotional information in the management text from the point of view of translation studies, present a quantitative analysis of ways to express emotional information, as well as techniques for translating emotional information into Russian. As a result, we determined that the texts of this style are characterized by a consistent and logical presentation of information, the presence of terms and abbreviations. This article defines the role of the professional activities of an interpreter in the intercultural communication. The influence of the current intercultural environment on the content of translators’ and interpreters’ education is analyzed. The authors consider the interpreter’s professional qualities necessary for effective communication, including: patriotism, tolerance to social, ethnic and cultural differences, the ability to adapt to different communication situations, a high speed of switching from one language to another, and mental resistance to stressful situations. The inevitable interconnection of language and culture is noted, which becomes the subject of a number of special studies and determines the development of the educational cultural paradigm. The necessity of linguo-cultural competence development in the university in order to minimize failures in intercultural communication is considered.
