{"title":"Performance of flipped classroom teaching method during hemodialysis training of nurses.","authors":"Zihua Lu, Jiangtao Zhu, Cheng Chen","doi":"10.1590/1980-220X-REEUSP-2024-0276en","DOIUrl":"10.1590/1980-220X-REEUSP-2024-0276en","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Objective: </strong>To compare the effectiveness of flipped classroom (FC) model with traditional lecture-based learning (LBL) model in the education of hemodialysis nurses.</p><p><strong>Method: </strong>Enrolled were 46 nurses who had received training from the hemodialysis center. These nurses were randomly assigned to FC or LBL groups, with 23 nurses in each group. FC group received the FC method, while LBL group was trained via the traditional LBL. After training, all nurses were examined for their theoretical knowledge, clinical practice skills and self-learning abilities. Furthermore, their satisfaction with the teaching mode was evaluated.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>FC group outperformed LBL group in the mastery of theoretical knowledge. In FC group, the scores in objective, subjective and overall questions were significantly higher than those in LBL group. FC group demonstrated a superior capability in clinical practices. FC group exhibited a superior performance over the LBL group in self-learning ability. Additionally, FC group showed a higher degree of satisfaction with the training method.</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>FC method benefits nurses in mastering knowledge about hemodialysis. {"title":"Prenatal tests in Brazil: prevalence and associated factors according to the Brazilian National Health Survey.","authors":"Francisca Maria da Silva Freitas, Rita Da Graça Carvalhal Frazão Correia, Camila Biazus-Dalcin, Herla Maria Furtado Jorge, Priscila de Souza Aquino, Bruno Luciano Carneiro Alves de Oliveira","doi":"10.1590/1980-220X-REEUSP-2024-0154en","DOIUrl":"10.1590/1980-220X-REEUSP-2024-0154en","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Objective: </strong>To analyze the prevalence of prenatal tests of pregnant women and factors associated with variation in this prevalence in the years of the Brazilian National Health Survey 2013 and 2019.</p><p><strong>Method: </strong>A cross-sectional study, carried out with women who underwent prenatal care, interviewed in the Brazilian National Health Survey 2013 (n = 1,851) and 2019 (n = 2,729).</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>The most prevalent tests were urine and blood, and the least prevalent were syphilis and HIV. During the period, the number of tests for syphilis (15.2; 95% CI: 11.0; 22.0) and HIV (4.3; 95% CI: 4.3; 8.0) increased, but the number of tests for the others decreased. The prevalence of tests for the four tests increased and reached 69.9% (95% CI: 67.0; 72.8) in 2019 compared to 60% (95% CI: 56.1; 63.9) in 2013.</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>There was a greater number of prenatal tests performed, specifically for syphilis and HIV, rather than a reduction in the number of blood and urine tests. Data collected in a pediatric outpatient clinic of a teaching hospital in an inland city of the state of São Paulo. The following collection strategies were used: participant observation, drawing, and semi-structured interviews. Twenty-two school-age children with special health needs participated in the research, all of whom attended school.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Three categories were constructed representing the experience of children with special health needs at school: Experiencing the school environment, Identifying obstacles, and Finding ways to move forward despite the illness. {"title":"Ear acupuncture with laser and needles in the treatment of anxiety in university students: a randomized clinical trial.","authors":"Ana Paula da Silva Lemos, Bárbara Guimarães Lourenço, Érika de Cássia Lopes Chaves, Luana Vieira Toledo, Tânia Couto Machado Chianca, Caroline de Castro Moura","doi":"10.1590/1980-220X-REEUSP-2024-0239en","DOIUrl":"10.1590/1980-220X-REEUSP-2024-0239en","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Objective: </strong>To compare the effectiveness of ear acupuncture with laser and needles in the treatment of anxiety in university students in the post-pandemic context of Covid-19, as well as to evaluate the possible symptoms or adverse reactions triggered by the interventions.</p><p><strong>Method: </strong>Randomized clinical trial carried out with 126 university students, allocated to the \"Needle\" (control) and \"Laser\" (experimental) groups. Five ear acupuncture sessions were performed. Assessments were performed before, after the end of treatment and seven days later (follow up), through the State Anxiety Inventory and the measurement of heart and respiratory rates. The Generalized Estimating Equations were used.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>There was a reduction in anxiety levels in both groups, between the initial and final assessments, and initial and follow up. There was no difference between the groups in the final and follow up. Heart rate decreased in the Needle group between the final and follow up, and initial and follow up assessments; the Laser group remained constant over time and the groups did not differ from each other between the end and follow up. There was no change over time in respiratory rate in either group and they did not differ from each other in the final and follow up assessments. There was a higher occurrence of adverse reactions in the group that received the intervention with needles, despite the mild intensity.</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>Both interventions were effective in reducing anxiety levels in university students. Twelve women and five adult men living with Human T-Lymphotropic Virus Type 1, residing in Bahia, Brazil, participated in the study. A structured instrument and focus group were applied to collect data. Most were published in 2022 (40.0%), in the Southeast region (60.0%), especially at the Faculdade Israelita de Ciências da Saúde Albert Einstein, through a professional master's program in nursing (20.0%). Family health was the most evident area of specialty in the sample (36.0%), and the prevalent level of complexity was Primary Health Care (76.0%).</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>The scenario of scientific productions on the subject in the country has begun to advance in recent years, but is still incipient. Considering the results of these studies, a nursing intervention model was constructed based on two theoretical frameworks, such as the A Model of Children's Adjustment to Parental Cancer, for adolescents, and Neuman Systems Model, for parents, and on a semantic framework, such as Nursing Ontology.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>The model is aimed at three target audiences: individual - parental figure with cancer; individual - adolescent; and family - parental figure with cancer, second parental figure and adolescent.
