The diverse group of nurse leaders was led by Robyn Begley, AONL CEO and American Hospital Association Senior Vice President and CNO, and Deborah Zimmermann, AONL Board President and CEO of The DAISY Foundation. To learn more about the exchange, AONL spoke with Region 2 Board Member Claire M. This was a joint effort to mitigate </span>antibiotic resistance. The Joint Commission has set a new standard for nurses to be engaged in ASP. A pre-/post-test survey design to assess the value of an educational video intervention was used. There were 28 respondents. Results were statistically significant at a 95% confidence interval with paired </span><em>t</em> = −8.244 and a p value <0.001. The educational video did increase awareness to clinical leadership of the nurses’ role in an ASP. An evidence-based, multicomponent CNS transition to practice onboarding program was developed to support newly hired CNSs to a large healthcare organization which resulted in a 93% retention rate and high job satisfaction. The current landscape presents a heightened level of complexity and intensity, which is shifting the essential competencies required for these positions. To gain deeper insights, the authors surveyed experienced CNOs nationally to understand their perspectives on the primary challenges, critical competencies, and current organizational strategies. Seldom are direct care nurses with the first-hand knowledge and innovative ideas necessary to design successful wellbeing initiatives tapped to lead these changes. At a midwestern health care system, direct care nurses were given protected time, project management education and tools, and nurse leader coaching to lead engaging wellness initiatives.
