Abstract

The objective of this study was to enhance clinical leadership knowledge of the nurses’ role in an antibiotic stewardship program (ASP). This was a joint effort to mitigate antibiotic resistance. The Joint Commission has set a new standard for nurses to be engaged in ASP. A pre-/post-test survey design to assess the value of an educational video intervention was used. There were 28 respondents. Results were statistically significant at a 95% confidence interval with paired t = −8.244 and a p value <0.001. The educational video did increase awareness to clinical leadership of the nurses’ role in an ASP. This may help boost nursing engagement in an ASP.
