Based on primary linguistic data collected between 2017 and 2018, the present study describes notable variations of segments as well as tonal patterns found in several nouns for aliments in Tai lu. This article argues that the variations observed consist of an interactive mechanism between tones and morphology. Particular attention is paid to the tonal patterns of nouns for aliments, where six innovative contours are used instead of the six lexical tones. More precisely, the six innovative contours reveal the stability of tones in contemporary Tai lu. The mechanism is triggered by the segmental ellipsis of the morpheme /mak24/ \"fruit\" inside of a compound noun for an aliment, which links the lexical tone of /mak24/ \"fruit\" to the following morpheme for an aliment because of tonal stability, therefore creating six innovative contours. Ultimately, the present study adopts the perspective of dynamic synchrony, which focuses on the determination of the conservative or innovative nature of all these variations, on the identification of related internal and/or external factors, and on the evaluation of their direction of change.","PeriodicalId":42277,"journal":{"name":"LINGUISTIQUE","volume":"19 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70315268","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"文学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our document is of interest to the historian, the folklorist and the sociologist. The profusion of prohibitions and restrictions offer a fairly detailed picture of women’s clothing, traditional festivities, and social rivalry. For the linguist, the text presents an introduction and a conclusion in Hebrew, rich in biblical citations and rabbinic allusions; the central section is written in a Judeo-Spanish variety strewn with Arabic and Hebrew words and expressions. All these may contribute to a better understanding of sociolinguistic phenomena, such as code-switching and the hybrid character of Jewish languages. The document is offered here fully translated into French, followed by the Judeo-Spanish passages transcribed and where necessary interpreted literally. The article ends in a sociolinguistic analysis dealing mainly with the functions of Hebrew in this text. Finally, the entire document is given in its original Hebrew script, followed by a photocopy of it.","PeriodicalId":42277,"journal":{"name":"LINGUISTIQUE","volume":"16 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70314768","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"文学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They often have a metaphorical, even ironic or jocular character, with a dose of sophistication. Recalling biblical phraseology or facets of Jewish society, they testify to the inseparable link between language, society and culture. Like many Hebrew words melded into Moroccan Judeo-Arabic, these linguistic components have evolved semantically, and have assumed new meanings, unknown to the dictionary. In some cases, they even represent genuine neologisms. The present study examines the diachronic evolution of ten idioms collected during different field surveys in an attempt to decipher the stages of shifts in meaning that they have undergone in daily usage.","PeriodicalId":42277,"journal":{"name":"LINGUISTIQUE","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70314911","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"文学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

C’est parce que Beckache souhaitait que l’ouvrage, qui traitait de morale et d’ethique, soit accessible au plus grand nombre qu’il l’a ecrit, dit‑il, «en arabe dialectal de notre pays». Ce ne fut pas un mince exploit, car l’auteur n’etait pas originaire d’Algerie; sa famille avait immigre de Bagdad en Inde et il avait passe sa jeunesse a Eretz Yisraʿel avant d’arriver en Algerie. Tout en ecrivant volontairement dans le registre familier de ses contemporains, il y a des cas ou il se trouve dans la necessite d’employer un registre eleve en rapport avec le developpement ou les citations litteraires. On se propose d’exhumer, a partir de ce texte, les caracteristiques du judeo-algerien de la fin du xixe siecle.","PeriodicalId":42277,"journal":{"name":"LINGUISTIQUE","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70315002","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"文学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Cet article a pour objectif de montrer qu’en realite il existe, dans l’un et l’autre cas, des elements qui ne respectent pas cette exigence. Pour ce faire, on se centrera sur la troncature des noms de personnes et des termes d’adresse en malais et en indonesien. Cette etude illustre le fait que le principe de minimalite des langues est viole par les troncatures monosyllabiques, l’un des modeles de troncature, ainsi que par les troncatures disyllabiques. Si l’on tient compte du modele Morpheme - Base (MBT), les troncatures dans les deux langues doivent satisfaire la contrainte appelee BASE ≠ TRUNC, laquelle exige que les formes tronquees ne soient pas identiques a la forme de base . Il en resulte que les troncatures monosyllabiques emergent, en particulier, lorsque les bases sont disyllabiques, cette contrainte occupant un rang eleve dans le classement des contraintes portant sur ces deux langues.","PeriodicalId":42277,"journal":{"name":"LINGUISTIQUE","volume":"26 1","pages":"51-68"},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2017-06-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86436705","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"文学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
