Kuznetsova","doi":"10.29025/2079-6021-2022-4-105-114","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.29025/2079-6021-2022-4-105-114","url":null,"abstract":"The article examines the author’s stance in the fiction “frame” staging that contributes to the expression of the main intentions of the author and determines the direction of the meanings decoding in the text space. The relevance of the research is due to the growing interest in modality in recent decades as a communicative, pragmatic and semantic category that determines the linguistic and stylistic features of a literary text and manifests components of the author’s “picture of the world”. The purpose of the article is to identify and describe the pragmatic and semantic features of the author’s stance in the fiction “frame” staging. The research methods are applied to the object of research in a comprehensive manner, with the priority choice being the transformation method, the deductive and inductive method, the pragma-semantic analysis of modal linguistic units of multi-level affiliation, contextual analysis, and the method of philological interpretation. The functioning of the authorial stance is conditioned by a complex of author’s intentions, both explicit and implicit. The inclusion of the narrative about the events of a person’s life in the fiction “frame” staging allows us to interpret such events as universally symbolic. In the course of the research, it was found that the “frame” of the story “Hadji Murad” by L.N. Tolstoy is characterized by the active use of the pronoun I in the implementation of the narrative in the first person, which contributes to the creation of near and far perspectives of the text; introductory words, verbs of thought, memories and recognition act as markers of the authorial stance; landscape descriptions also realize the aesthetic function, organized antithetically. The actualization of the author’s stance in the fiction “frame” staging occurs on the basis of the correlation of the meanings of framed and framing texts, which allows us to identify the abstracting nature of the “frame” as a compositional component: its main function is not so much the reader’s emotional attitude towards the main text “inserted” into this “frame”, as a reflection of the author’s attitude to problems and ideas implicated in the semantic space of a literary text.","PeriodicalId":34231,"journal":{"name":"Aktual''nye problemy filologii i pedagogicheskoi lingvistiki","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48109319","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The relevance of the study is determined by the anthropocentriс principles of modern linguistics, the study of “a human in language”, which, in turn, predetermines the need to clarify the linguistic parameters that can be applied to the text in the aspect of identifying the degree of authenticity of a possible world as such. The purpose of the article is to find out and describe the modality markers that make it feasible to represent the events of a literary text as reliable and perceived by the reader as the only possible truth. Research methods, among which the preference was given to the methods of observation and comparison, the method of philological interpretation, pragmatic and semantic analysis of microcontexts, were applied to the object of study in a complex manner, which resulted in pinpointing and describing the differences in the representation of the authenticity of an event in the author’s and characters’ zones of modality. The reader’s perception of the events of a literary text as authentic is modeled by the author by means of multi-level means of modality, the content plan of which, moreover, is complicated by the introduction of a subject of narration into the text that is different from the author (narrator) himself. In the zone of characters’ modality, only lexical and grammatical means are used, while the author’s modality is characterized by the additional use of syntactic structures targeted at the creation of authenticity, the appeal to biblical motifs and images, as well as direct addressing to the reader. The background knowledge of the reader, O’Henry appeals to in his Christmas novella, allows to carry out the synthesis of multi-level means of evaluation and modality, which takes the events of a literary text beyond the limits of authenticity.","PeriodicalId":34231,"journal":{"name":"Aktual''nye problemy filologii i pedagogicheskoi lingvistiki","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47209065","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study is conducted on the material of the novel «Impatience of the Heart» (Ungeduld des Herzens), as well as on the material of the novel «The Painted Veil». The purpose of the work is achieved by applying a comprehensive method of comparative, interpretative and stylistic analysis. It is established that one of the most common approaches to the study of texts is a discursive approach. The essential components in this approach are such subjects as the author, the reader, as well as the text itself. A distinctive feature of the texts of literary discourse is the active use of means of stylistic expression and of other stylistically marked linguistic units. The article examines the usage features of metaphors, epithets, and comparisons from the standpoint of the discursive study of literary texts, as well as their functional specifics. A quantitative comparative analysis of the studied material is carried out. It is established that the means of literary expression in belles-lettres discourse realize the following functions: description of the internal and external portrait of the characters of the work, description of the actions of the characters, description of the plot events of the literary work, as well as detailing landscapes and various objects of the realities of the literary work. The analysis of the material showed that the literary discourse of the two authors under study has certain similarities and differences. Both in the text of the novel «Ungeduld des Herzens» and in the text of the novel «The Painted Veil», the most frequent function of stylistic devices was the function of portraying characters. The study showed that the quantitative ratio of stylistic devices among the authors is different: the most frequent means of expression in a German-language novel was an epithet, in an English-language novel – a comparison. The scientific novelty of the research consists in the study of the functional specificity of stylistic devices with the help of discursive study in a comparative aspect of different linguocultures. The prospect of the research is further consideration of the means of literary expression in literary texts of various genres in a comparative aspect.","PeriodicalId":34231,"journal":{"name":"Aktual''nye problemy filologii i pedagogicheskoi lingvistiki","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41440643","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The relevance of the research is due to the need to preserve the history, culture and language of individual ethnic groups in the context of globalization. The purpose of the article is to define and describe the elements of ethnocultural identity in transnational literary texts of Russian Germans. The work was carried out within the framework of an interdisciplinary approach using the methods of discursive, contextual and semantic analysis, elements of linguistic and cultural description. The research material is the works of authors – Russian Germans, whose life is connected with the Omsk region. The authors of the article come to the conclusion that the specificity of these texts allows them to be attributed to transnational literature, since in most cases these works are autobiographical and dedicated to the search for identity. At the same time, the ethnocultural identity of Russian Germans living on the same territory includes national and regional components. As a result of the analysis of literary works, the authors have identified the following enlarged thematic groups that characterize the life of Russian Germans in the Omsk region: spatial, social, linguistic, cultural. Elements of both regional and ethnic identity of the Russian Germans of the Omsk region were identified in each thematic group. It is established that regional identity prevails in the spatial and socio-household components, and ethnic identity prevails in the linguistic and cultural components. The authors of the article show that ethno-cultural identity is objectified to a greater extent at the level of the identified thematic groups, to a lesser extent at the level of the use of stylistic means. The study revealed that colloquial mixed bilingual vocabulary prevails in terms of language as a means of humor and satire, as well as expressive and evaluative epithets.","PeriodicalId":34231,"journal":{"name":"Aktual''nye problemy filologii i pedagogicheskoi lingvistiki","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42166766","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The relevance of the article is determined by the study of the portrait as a means of exploring the inner world of characters, the ability to trace the evolution of the use of static and dynamic portraits. The purpose of the article was to study the portrait as a means of artistic and psychological analysis in relation to the author’s concept of personality, the aesthetic views of the writer and the problems of the work. The definition of the role of portrait characteristics in the novel “The Adolescent” is facilitated by the analysis of the principles of portrait construction, a comparative typological method that allows identifying the features of creating static and dynamic portraits. It is noted that in the novel “The Adolescent” the theme of the chaos of post-reform reality, moral and spiritual decay is reflected in the characters of the characters, and by introducing a new type of hero into the novel, first-person narratives, change the ways of creating portraiture. Static and dynamic portraits are colored by subjective assessment, the feeling of the hero-narrator. Portrait typing techniques depend on the content of the person being portrayed. The characters are one-liners, whose inner world is unambiguous, and in the future there are no significant changes in their perception of the world and behavior, are depicted in monologue portraits (Lambert, Makar Ivanovich, etc.). The image of ambivalent heroes, who were affected by “disorder” and spiritual decay, is revealed in dialogical static portraits (Kraft, Vasin, both Princes Sokolsky). Especially in the novel, portraits stand out-impressions of two of the most complex characters and the most important persons in the fate of a teenager – Versilov and Akhmakova. These portraits are imbued with an emotional element. The study of the poetics of the portrait has given reason to assert that in the “The Adolescent” the portrait not only reveals the dominant psychological characteristics of the character, but also becomes a refraction of the inner world of the teenager, his artistic and psychological characteristics.","PeriodicalId":34231,"journal":{"name":"Aktual''nye problemy filologii i pedagogicheskoi lingvistiki","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48599287","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Gorzhaya","doi":"10.29025/2079-6021-2022-4-35-52","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.29025/2079-6021-2022-4-35-52","url":null,"abstract":"The article is devoted to the study of the correlation of direct and indirect meanings of colouratives that are used in the English-language literary text based on the material of women’s prose, in particular, the novel “The Handmaid’s Tale” (1985) by M. Atwood. As part of the analysis of theoretical and methodological material, it has been revealed that colouratives in a literary text contribute to the fact that the author of a literary text can implicitly convey to the reader a much larger amount of information: such words can evoke certain associations in the recipient, allow the author to attract his attention, create a visual, pictorial artistic reality that differs in one or another set of colours. During the analysis of the selected contexts (more than 500 fragments) with colouratives (516 units) from the literary work – a dystopian novel by Canadian writer Margaret Atwood “The Handmaid’s Tale”, a number of features have been identified. In the analyzed literary work, various colours have been used – ten frequently occurring and five less common ones. As part of the work with empirical material, the frequently occurring colouratives that do not have a transfer of meaning and less frequently used secondary colouratives with a transfer of meaning (metaphor and metonymy) have been identified. Some of the colour designations have had only a direct meaning. The colouratives white, red and black are very frequently used (almost a third of them has a semantic transfer). The colouratives blue (half of them has a transfer of semantics), pink (the fourth part is metaphorical or metonymic), green and gray (half of them with a transfer of semantics) and brown (one fifth has a semantic transfer) are quite often used. Besides, the author highlights the colouratives gold(en) (with a predominance of metaphors and metonymies) and silver (half of them with a transfer of semantics), which often denote not only the colour, but also the material from which this or that object is made. The least represented are the colouratives purple, yellow, orange, peach and ivory, which are completely or almost completely not characterized by any semantic transfers. In terms of structure, one-component colouratives prevail in relation to most colours and in both groups of colouratives, however, two-component structures are also quite frequent in case of direct nomination. The indirect meaning assumes various syntactic and morphological-syntactic models of the formation of colouratives (word composition, word composition + suffixation), including figurative comparisons with the elements as and like. As a result of the study of direct and figurative meanings of colouratives in M. Atwood’s novel «The Handmaid’s Tale» we come to the conclusion about the diversity of colouratives in terms of semantic transfers (metaphor, metonymy, metaphtonymy), structure and derivational models (from simple, single-component colouratives to complex multicomponent formations).","PeriodicalId":34231,"journal":{"name":"Aktual''nye problemy filologii i pedagogicheskoi lingvistiki","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45271279","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The relevance of this research is due to the need to enlarge the target audience of Russian museums which official websites do not still provide globalized versions in the English language, which the author argues to choose for the reason of its lingua franca status. High-quality text content focused on a global visitor can not only expand the target audience but also yield other benefits for cultural and leisure institutions. The author considers that pragmatics of a potential global recipient requires following certain principles while translating a text from Russian into English or while creating a globalized text based on the Russian original. This work is aimed at studying and analyzing whether the principles of textual information completeness and brevity, which the author views as the basic ones, are followed or not, and which rules are obeyed. The text material selected for analysis is presented by text content fragments displayed on the official websites of world-known Russian museums located in Moscow and St. Petersburg with annual attendance by a vast number of foreign visitors. It is revealed that text simplicity interrelated with text brevity is reached due to transformations at lexical and syntactical levels. The rule of textual information omission is mainly performed when the textual information is irrelevant for a foreign recipient.","PeriodicalId":34231,"journal":{"name":"Aktual''nye problemy filologii i pedagogicheskoi lingvistiki","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43175812","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Heller the study implements a discursively oriented approach to the category of negation, supplemented by the theory of the textual world developed by P. Werth. The purpose of the study is to analyze this category as a sub-world of the textual space of the novel, in the format of which information about current events and the characters’ emotional-volitional state is blocked or redirected in the opposite direction, the reader’s expectations and assumptions about the subsequent unfolding of the narrator’s discourse are refuted. To study the humorous effect produced by negative structures, methods of cognitive poetics are used, which are aimed at identifying how the author’s choice of means of influencing the reader’s imagination determines the semantic structure and holistic interpretation of the text. It is established that the author implements this illocutionary installation as a result of intentional modeling of such processes as: (a) reproduction of two contradictory concepts as compatible entities; (b) manipulation of readers’ knowledge about objective and imaginary reality. It is proved that these processes underlie the coherent perception of the narrative, since the combination of contrasting phenomena on the syntagmatic axis of the text implies deep meanings. It is emphasized that the frequency functioning of the category of negation in «Catch-22» sheds light on the specifics of the author’s vision of the surrounding reality and, as a consequence, the key themes of the novel. By putting this category in the strong position of the text, the author focuses the reader’s attention on the inaction of the characters, their contradictory nature. It is revealed that the inactivity and «non-existence» of the main and secondary actors of the narrative becomes an epistemological principle justifying their behavior in extreme situations. It is concluded that as the narrative structure of the novel text unfolds, the absurdist humorous effect begins to prevail, which is realized in the contrasting juxtaposition of such conflicting frames as prudence and madness. As a result, the reader is confronted with a cognitive illusion, gets such an experience of perception of everyday objectivity, according to which strange, logically absurd and unusual situations become strikingly typical and not surprising.","PeriodicalId":34231,"journal":{"name":"Aktual''nye problemy filologii i pedagogicheskoi lingvistiki","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42980016","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Tolstoy. The goal is to recearch the narrative and suggestive functions of the writer’s individual spatial representations, as well as their role in creating the emotive-evaluative structure of the narrative. The material of the study was the works: “Childhood”, “Foray”, “Master and Worker”, “Resurrection”. In modern literary criticism, there are de facto no studies of the writer’s spatial reflection, which already ensures a high level of relevance of the material presented. The main research methods were comparative, structural and descriptive, hermeneutic and interpretive, historical and functional, as well as the method of semantic analysis. In modern literary criticism, there are no actually studies of the spatial reflection of the writer, which already ensures a high level of relevance of the material presented. As a result of referring to the texts of several, especially illustrative works of the prose writer, the authors of the article come to two important conclusions. Firstly, the texts of L. Tolstoy testify that the writer did not focus on the linear and distance characteristics of the described topoi, limiting himself to the degree of their completeness and detail, which made it possible to create a reliable picture of the emotional and psychological state of the characters (this was explained by the artist’s overwhelming interest in the inner world of the characters, to revealing their mental and moral and ethical dominants). The objects described in the writer’s works, although they give some idea of the areas of the ongoing action, in most cases act as sets of isolated points and objects. In the first case, such references are presented as a space of stable emotional and evaluative states of the characters (“Compound”, “road”, “field”), in the second case, by means of a concentrated enumeration of them, the author creates paintings saturated with traditional everyday associations, again, in order to create an effect of emotional contrast. Secondly, the writer, in general, tended to describe limited locations, to depict the closest to the point of observation of the author and the hero. According to the authors, it’s explained, by the peculiarities of L. Tolstoy’s psychotype, which were formed in the deep childhood of the writer. The study revealed that in the formation of the topology of narrative episodes, the writer was primarily interested in the internal movement of the human soul and he could well experiment with the narrative space in order to “obscure”, dematerialize it in order to fully concentrate on the main object of his attention.","PeriodicalId":34231,"journal":{"name":"Aktual''nye problemy filologii i pedagogicheskoi lingvistiki","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41657031","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
