This is an unprecedented amount, considering that in the previous twenty-five years, Slovenian books for children were not published in Russia at all. The fairy tale by Polonсa Kovač “The Herbs of the Little Witch” translated by Olga Smorodina, a graduate of St. Petersburg State University, published by Peter Publishing House in 2019 with age marking 6+ is very noticeable among them. The translation of the book is characterized by the consistent elimination of “unchildish topics” from the text (death, bladder and bowel habits, anti-social acts, family problems, politics and international relations). In this work, an attempt is made to trace and systematize the changes made to the text, as well as to determine what caused the elimination of specific topics in the context of modern strategies for translating children’s books into Russian. Some of the omissions and replacements considered are determined by the Federal Law of the Russian Federation no. 436-FZ “On Protecting Children from Information Harmful to Their Health and Development” and are necessary for the book to be published with a 6+ marking and be available tochildren of preschool and primary school age; partially these changes are caused by the translator’s personal ideas about taboo topics in children’s literature","PeriodicalId":31432,"journal":{"name":"Caesura Journal of Philological and Humanistic Studies","volume":"93 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72905314","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Today, Stojšin is best known as a writer for children, although at the time when he published his first novel for young people, he had already published praised prose works of a very modern orientation. From the very beginning, his novels for children have been received as literature for all ages. As a writer for children, Stojšin remained largely attached to themes and motifs belongingtothe narrative worlds of his previous works. Focusing on the example of the transformation of a character of a prostitute from a novel for adults into the character of platonic love interest of the hero-narrator from thenovelsfor children, the text identifies the narrative devices by which this transformation was carried out. The conceptual apparatus of classical and postclassical narratology was used in the analysis.","PeriodicalId":31432,"journal":{"name":"Caesura Journal of Philological and Humanistic Studies","volume":"2 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78973251","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Their significance, despite the fact that they do not have high aesthetic values, is neverthelessgreat, because they respondedto theneeds of the time. Furthermore,they give us the opportunity to determine the continuity ofdevelopment of Macedonian children's literature, which has primary importance for the mental, emotional and educational developmentof children. We note,especially inthe last few years,thatthe interest forchildren's literatureis great, both by authors and bypublishers, who have started republishing works. Thisconfirms the universality of children's literature, with its timeless themes and motives which are interesting, intriguing, attractive, fun, fulfilling their ultimatepedagogicalfunction, directing the child towardsbetter life principles.Up until the Enlightenment, there was no interest in the child, except for thesolitary manifestations by John Locke, Jan Amas Komensky and Jean-Jacques Rousseau. A real interest in the child was shown in the time of Romanticism. Withinthe Macedonian cultural development there is an interest shown in children during the Enlightenment, at the beginning of the XIX century.Thefirst books published in the vernacular were intended for adults, but at the same time provided directionsfor better upbringing of children. The first authors of children's works,among the series of their activities, were collectors of folk art whowerealso engaged in education. Authors of the so far discovered works for children are Partenija Zografski, Jordan Hadzi Konstantinov Dzinot, Grigor Prlichev, Evtim Sprostranov, Tomo Sminjanic Bradina, and we will also acknowledgeMarko Cepenkov","PeriodicalId":31432,"journal":{"name":"Caesura Journal of Philological and Humanistic Studies","volume":"40 9","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72373671","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The trilogy consists of the novels Ulica predaka [The Ancestor’s Lane], Ispit zrelosti [The Matriculation Exam], and Bijele strijele[White Arrows],published between 1980 and 2004. I interpret them as feminist Bildungsroman, a genre present both in the West and in the East, trackingthe heroine’s venture from the private into public sphere,while downplaying the importance romance and marriage had in the classic, male-centric version ofthe form. Followinganarrative analysis, I discuss Škrinjarić’s portrayal of aesthetic norms and cultural production and outline possibilities of resistance through reading and writing. The third section of the essay engages with the history of Yugoslav feminism and situates Škrinjarić withinarecently revised timeline of women’s activism that emphasizes the continuity between thegovernment-supported project of women’s emancipation and second-wave feminism. By combining textual analysis with wider cultural context,I have found thatŠkrinjarić’s still widely obscure trilogy offers valuable insights intothe formation of female identities and possible plots in which we encounter said identities","PeriodicalId":31432,"journal":{"name":"Caesura Journal of Philological and Humanistic Studies","volume":"2020 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80913371","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Following the tradition allows the writer to keep in touch with Russian classical literature and Russian culture as a whole. At the same time, the recognition of the literary tradition reinforces the tragic register in the novel dedicated to the life of Russian emigrants of the first wave.The paper also considers some features of the poetics of the novel “The Family”: the role of symbolism in the figurative system of the work, the specifics of its spatial-temporal organization, the peculiarities of using metaphors, some characteristics of the narrative","PeriodicalId":31432,"journal":{"name":"Caesura Journal of Philological and Humanistic Studies","volume":"45 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90571053","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The portal, whose design is original and not based on any other language portal, provides information on the words’ meanings, synonyms, morphological paradigms, pronunciation, phraseology, dialect usage, history, and etymology.This data is linked to two educational grammars and accompanied by teaching materials, a game for smart devices, a language counselling service for teachers, and a description of modern teaching methods. The main purpose of the portal is to introduce students of elementary and secondary schools to the use of various dictionaries, to improve their linguistic and metalinguistic competence, and introduce them to other language resources. The portal fills the gap in existing Slovenian language resources, namely the lack of specialized or appropriately suited comprehensive dictionary manuals, primarily intended for the schooling populationand use in education. The paper also presents the creation of new dictionary, grammatical, and teaching content, and the process of its adaptation and consolidation into a new, coherent whole. Due to the age span of target usergroups the content and its visualization are adapted to three age groups (elementary-school grades 1 to 5, grades 6 to 9, and secondary school) based ontheir (meta)linguistic knowledge, while also taking into account the curricula for teaching Slovenianin elementary and secondary school","PeriodicalId":31432,"journal":{"name":"Caesura Journal of Philological and Humanistic Studies","volume":"437 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89642904","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A corresponding linguistic map has been created with the help of the dictionary. The analysis shows that the all-Russian unit rusalkais the most widespread one in the region and has been recorded in the majority of its districts. Someareasformspecial nominations (chertovka, leshachikha, vodianaia, shishiga, poludnitsa). The rest of the names are local. The absence of names for the mermaid, common to the entire Perm territory, and the presence of many local nominations indicate the graduallossof ideas about this character in the Permian mythological tradition. The commonality of the regional tradition is maintained only at the level of individual beliefs, not the language. Beliefs that are represented in the nominations of the mermaid andsupport the integrity of her image in the region include ideas about her demonic nature, her place of residence, the presence of her long hair, the prohibition to call her by her direct name and about the need toappease her. The advantage of the electronic dictionary “The Mythological Vocabulary of the PermRegion” when creating a linguistic map is the ability to go both from the vocabulary (through the section “Mythological character”) and from the geographical label (through the section “Geographic indexof lexical units”). Both approaches make it possible to compile a map faster than when working with a paper dictionary, since the dictionary makes it possible to automatically either get a list of all mapped units, or not to refer to dictionary entries atall, but to work only with geographical labels.","PeriodicalId":31432,"journal":{"name":"Caesura Journal of Philological and Humanistic Studies","volume":"11 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88715520","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The corpus of proverbs was collected from the collections of proverbs, dictionaries, scientific articles, doctoral dissertation, and internet sources.We are interested in the meaning of beer as a beverage in Russian culture, on which occasions is consumed, whether its use is characteristic of a particular social group and what status it has had throughout the centuries as well as its role in Russian traditional culture.Sincethe proverbs are born from the cultural tradition itself, in seeking answers to the questions we have used data from sources that deal with cultural aspects and customs.The results of the survey show that the perception of beer is related to folk beliefsand reflects the daily life of the community in which the potion is consumed. Beer is perceived as a favourite beverage that is often consumed. It is also a potion of celebration, which expresses the hospitality and is consumed in special occasions (seasons and holidays) in a larger amount for holidays such as Maslenitsa, Easter, Christmas, but the consumption is mostly related to rest and entertainment. The first part of the paper presents data on book translations of Slovenian children’s poetry into Macedonian and Macedonian children’s poetry into Slovene in two stages: the first one shows translations in the period between 1945 and 1990, when Slovenia and Macedonia were part of the common state of Yugoslavia, and the second one shows translations publishedafter independence, i.e., between 1991 and 2020. The proportion of mutual translations of Slovenian and Macedonian children’spoetry comparedto translations of children’sprose and drama is also shown. In the second part, the rare book translations of Slovenian children'spoetry into Macedonian and Macedonian into Slovenian published after 2000 are analysed using a functional approach. The analysis seeks to show whether the translated text matches the illustrations, whether the form and sound of the poems are preserved, and what the transfer of the vocabulary is like. The conclusion suggests possibilities for more active interculturalmediationin this field.","PeriodicalId":31432,"journal":{"name":"Caesura Journal of Philological and Humanistic Studies","volume":"20 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81740321","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
