The system consists of two POF segments with sensing zones, with light source and photodetector arranged on a handle printed on polymer materials using 3D technology. The proposed sensor was characterized and compared with a commercial MTA400 force sensor (FUTEK, USA). An approximate viscoelasticity model was used to reduce the errors, and a genetic algorithm is used to define the model constants. The root mean square error decreased from 0.8310KgF without using the model to 0.3714KgF with the proposed. The POF force sensor proved to be comparable to the reference system as well as low-cost and easy to fabricate.","PeriodicalId":276855,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE Latin American Electron Devices Conference (LAEDC)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133355145","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the reasons for this phenomenon is the stalling of preventive cervical cancer screening tests, due to the lack of specialists with proper technologies for massive screening. The COVID-19 pandemic has worsened the situation as several Pap smearing tests have been postponed. The goal of this work is to present the design of a portable, low-cost device for digital screen test analysis to support cervical cancer detection in low-income and remote areas. We were able to design and test a low-cost, easy to implement device for conventional Pap smearing with high accuracy to detect anomalies in cervical cells. The total cost of the device is lower than 400 dollars.","PeriodicalId":276855,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE Latin American Electron Devices Conference (LAEDC)","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114491329","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Efforts to reduce this growing demand on storage devices are multiple, among them are assembly code compression and decompression techniques, which reduce the memory footprint of programs, thus reducing the resources and costs necessary for their elaboration. For this reason, is proposed a digital design and implementation of a real-time assembly code decompression module, that works under the demand of a processor, which is independent of the ISA, does not require modifications of the processing systems and reduce the amount of memory needed. The proposed microarchitecture is capable of decompress code in real-time, as well the results of the evaluation of the module, consisting of a 32-bit ARM processor and memory holding the compressed instructions, show the adaptability of the module to different ISA and processors using just their common inputs and outputs.","PeriodicalId":276855,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE Latin American Electron Devices Conference (LAEDC)","volume":"782 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117028797","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The memristive crossbars provide accelerated computing for various IoT and edge computing applications. Brain-inspired computing can be exploited to overcome the von-Neuman computers bottleneck to increase energy efficiency and accelerate processing, specifically in conceptual computing. All neuro-inspired computing methods are set in two platforms, including conventional and spiking neural networks. Due to the challenge in providing efficient signaling for the spiking computing process, this manuscript focuses on developing a signaling strategy and methodology for conceptual processing over the passive memristive crossbars. The efficient signaling enables the passive memristive crossbars to be utilized for energy-efficient computing, providing high dense circuit implementation.","PeriodicalId":276855,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE Latin American Electron Devices Conference (LAEDC)","volume":"118 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127300266","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For the above purpose, the present work consists of the research, design, and development of a prototype system to determine whether an identification document is authentic. This authenticity estimator consists of a composition of algorithms applied to images, such as filters and transformations; in order to perform a process called Optical Character Recognition (OCR), which consists of the recognition of symbols or characters from a given image. This proposal uses classical computer vision techniques, although it is important to mention that machine learning techniques can also be used for this purpose. Nevertheless, with this approach, 80 percent of accuracy was obtained in the recognition of identity documents.","PeriodicalId":276855,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE Latin American Electron Devices Conference (LAEDC)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124776830","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
