This review provides an in-depth exploration of these various mechanisms, elucidating their inherent capacities and limitations in facilitating developmental progression in ESL writing. Traditional approaches, while offering depth and contextuality, grapple with scalability and resource challenges. Technological methods, despite providing scalability and consistency, often lack depth and contextual relevance. Hybrid methodologies emerge as a balanced paradigm, attempting to synergize the merits of both extremes. Nevertheless, challenges spanning across psychological, pedagogical, and technological realms persistently loom, necessitating strategic, research-based solutions to ensure that feedback and evaluation mechanisms are optimally effective, equitable, and developmentally conducive. This review propounds a call for ongoing research, collaboration, and innovation among educators, technologists, and policy-makers to forge strategies that holistically and sustainably advance ESL writing education.","PeriodicalId":223840,"journal":{"name":"Lecture Notes on Language and Literature","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135609753","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the early nineteenth century, the grammar-translation method considered L1 as a medium of instruction, and L1 could be used to communicate in a foreign language classroom. As communication opportunities increased in the late nineteenth century, the direct method was developed, which considered that foreign languages could be taught without the L1. In the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries, research suggested that the use of L1 should be reconsidered. Unfortunately, the role of L1 is little addressed in the context of speaking lessons in China. This paper casts doubt on the avoidance of using L1 in class and delves into how L1 can optimize English language learning in the anticipated teaching context of a speaking lesson in China.","PeriodicalId":223840,"journal":{"name":"Lecture Notes on Language and Literature","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135500977","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Translators will also pay attention to the differences between languages and make appropriate adjustments according to the cultural background of the target language, so as to maintain the style and characteristics of the original work as far as possible. In addition, translators can also selectively explain and supplement in the translation process, so that readers can better understand the connotation of the original work. In short, the translator's subjective interpretation plays an important role in the translation of English literary works, which enables the works to be effectively communicated and disseminated between different languages and cultures.","PeriodicalId":223840,"journal":{"name":"Lecture Notes on Language and Literature","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135500979","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

During the writing instruction for international students in China, the research team conducted two rounds of action research in 12 weeks. It was found that: 1) Oral output exercises on the writing topics can significantly improve learners' composition performance and writing skills; 2) Cultivating learners' observing, reasoning and imagining ability through Q & A tasks can effectively improve their writing ability; 3) Decomposition of writing tasks, providing \"vocabulary chains\" for learners, and laying \"small steps\" as \"scaffolding\" for learners can enhance their writing confidence and strengthen their learning motivation; 4) Oral fluency practice is still indispensable in teaching international students Chinese writing.","PeriodicalId":223840,"journal":{"name":"Lecture Notes on Language and Literature","volume":"272 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135500989","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Each name in the work is carefully crafted to align with its theme and purpose. The names of characters often serve as a representation of their social status, personality, or destiny. Moreover, these names embody the author's intentions, values, and mastery of language, which add layers of depth to the literary work. To fully understand a literary work, it is essential to comprehend the significance and meanings behind the names since they provide insights into the culture being portrayed. The Story of the Stone is a classic example of a literary work that skillfully employs names to impart deeper meanings to its characters and themes. The intricate connections between the names and the character's social status, personality, and destiny offer a glimpse into the rich tapestry of Chinese culture. This paper aims to explore various translation methods for such names, providing guidelines for future translations and advancing the field of translation.","PeriodicalId":223840,"journal":{"name":"Lecture Notes on Language and Literature","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135501002","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The characters in the story can be divided into two categories in their attitude towards the \"Southern Complex\". The first type is represented by the older generation and the black people, who always shows their blind worship to everything in the old South. The second group is made up of the new generation and Emily, who tries to break through the old Southern system while also being dominated by it. By telling Emily's tragic story, Faulkner not only unveils the veil of the \"Southern Complex\", but also profoundly reflects on the old Southern traditions and people's conventional ideas.","PeriodicalId":223840,"journal":{"name":"Lecture Notes on Language and Literature","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135501190","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
