Synonymous with the conceptual unit of TRANSFORMATION lexemes objectify the phenomenon of transformation in the Ukrainian language, differentiating its expression by a set of conceptual features, such as: specificity / abstractness, spontaneity / purposefulness, procedurality and effectiveness, including various dimensions of transformations (in particular, ontological, social, individual).\u0000\u0000Antonymous relations that verbalize the phenomenon of transformation form groups of antonyms in the Ukrainian language, corresponding to three types of opposition: express the gradual qualitative opposite and the opposite of coordinated concepts, the opposite direction of action or feature, complementary opposite, i.e. the opposite of concepts that complement each other. Since the TRANSFORMATION concept has a certain number of conceptual features, the hierarchy can be as complete as possible on many features.\u0000\u0000According to the logical-conceptual criterion, the following types of ordering the conceptual features of the TRANSFORMATION concept are distinguished: 1) superordination (from a hierarchically higher notion) and subordination (from a hierarchically lower notion): transformation ↔ metamorphosis ↔ metempsychosis; 2) coordination (between notions that are simultaneously and directly attributed to the general superordinative notion) and diagonal relations (between opposite subordinate notions): transformation ↔ evolution / revolution; modification ↔ permutation / replacement / truncation / addition.\u0000\u0000The paradigmatic relations of the concept name, as well as the syntagmatic relations, form the perinuclear zone of the TRANSFORMATION concept field. The comparative analysis of one of the most famous works of the author – the story “The left-handed woman” – and its translation into Ukrainian by Oleksa Lohvynenko has been carried out. The strategies used by the translator when reproducing the dominants of the author’s style were analyzed, and it was determined which translation decisions contributed to the adequate reproduction of the original text, and which in some way prevented it. It was found out that O. Lohvynenko successfully reproduced most of the features of the author’s style in the translation: proper names, phraseological units, lexical units with colloquial connotations, author’s syntax. It was noticed that the translator tends to the strategy of “domestication” of translation when reproducing cultural concepts. The “presence of the translator” in the text of the translation is extremely noticeable, in particular due to the increase of emotionality of the translation by introducing additional phraseological units, lexical units of the colloquial register, nouns and adjectives with diminutive and caressing suffixes, as well as through the extraction of semantically important information. Some translation mistakes that led to deviations from the original text and distortion of information were also considered.

It is stated that the impetus for its emergence was the limited reproductive (technique/transformational) approach of classical translation studies to the investigation of specialized translation. In addition to its object, subject and a number of tasks, the article identifies five conceptual positions of translation-oriented terminology, which significantly change the view on language and translation. Specifically, it posits that the main function of language and translation is creation rather than communication, whereas translation itself is a third-order simulacrum or hyperreality. Taking into account that the order cannot be born out of chaos, a creator, who relies on empirically verified language principles and laws, but not the observed facts, is an especially relevant figure in the field. The author distinguishes between translational, lexicographic, standard-related and situational areas of translation-oriented terminology research. The article provides a helpful list of resources for potential research in the German-Ukrainian direction, which could facilitate proper multidomain terminology regulation and standardization efforts. Based on the current needs of science and society, including the translation market, the outlined perspectives and tasks of translation-oriented terminology confirm its relevance and importance. It is noteworthy that translationoriented terminology offers a significant advantage compared to other fields due to the applicability of its findings and standardization achievements, which initially address national priorities and ensure the provision of high-quality specialized translations.

One of the effective methods of researching homonymy is an unbound nonrestrictive associative experiment which allows to deepen the knowledge about the assimilation, interpretation, compatibility, functionality and use, including false ones, of homonyms in speech. The main object of analysis was the speakers’ associative reactions to homonymous stimuli obtained during a unbound associative experiment. The content and structure of the associative meaning of lexical homonyms, the types of verbal associative connections of stimuli-homonyms and words-reactions are studied. The analysis outcome of the obtained associative reactions establishes that the number and nature of associative reactions are determined by the degree of relevance of homonymous stimuli for informants. Homonymous stimuli evoke more paradigmatic associative reactions than syntagmatic ones in informants for whom this language is native. There have been identified the factors affecting the actualization (manifestation in the informants’ reactions) of a certain component of the homonymous group. The informant’s age and knowledge of different languages significantly influence the association process. The most frequent were attributive reactions caused by characteristic features of the object such as quality, property, function, significant detail for the speaker, etc., and situational ones where reactions associated with a certain situation or its component. Subjective-definitive reactions containing an explanation of the stimulus word, were also numerous. The strategies of associating homonymous stimuli caused by the influence of age, gender and other informants’ characteristics are analyzed. Due to experimental studies, the homonymy phenomenon receives a more extended interpretation than presented in lexicographic sources.

The concept of socio-political vocabulary is defined. The consequences of interlingual and intercultural contacts of Ukrainians in the XVII-XVIII centuries were traced within the lexical level of speech. “Treaty and Covenant of Laws and Liberties” reproduces the interaction of different language codes in the XVII-XVIII centuries. “Treaty and Covenant…” has a high variation on phonetic and grammatical levels, developed synonymy of nominative means and complicated syntax.\u0000\u0000In the socio-political lexics of “Treaty and Covenant of Laws and Liberties” five semantic groups were allocated: 1) military lexics; 2) names of juristical documents; 3) names of the selected titles; 4) names of inherited titles; 5) juristical lexics.\u0000\u0000The socio-political vocabulary of “Treaty and Covenant of Laws and Liberties” is defined by influences of Church Slavonic, Latin, Polish and, in part, Russian languages. In this article we prove the expediency of distinguishing ornamental (stylistic) mentiology as a self-contained section of this area, the task of which is to generalize knowledge about ways to actualize psychological and stylistic techniques and ornamental (artistic, figurative) means to verbalize the category of improbability, untruth, half-truth and lie, which is demonstrated in the practice of application of this system of means in the discursive space of a purely Ukrainian folk-literary genre of colloquialisms by S. Rudansky. Psychological and stylistic methods of influencing the reader and means of ornamentalism are actualized, we trace the realization of the style of intentional improbable description, based on a fantastic exaggeration of the situation, that leads to absurdity, a vivid expression of which is the system of alogisms, realized through a number of techniques (negation, which is figuratively amplified by fantasy, which grows to improbability; hyperbolization; humorous and playful injecting of unbelievable or illogical phrases, oxymoron, puns on the basis of actualization and collision of different meanings of polysemous words, homonyms or paronyms, oppositions; assumptions of intentional inaccuracies; giving absurd clarifications; denial of the argument, reinforced by a ridiculous comparison; hint; paradoxical judgments; deviation from the opinion that has just been expressed, a positive assessment under the guise of negative; meaningless recalculation of details, which is absurd, etc.). The research is based on the data collected from the short story La lengua de las mariposas written by modern Spanish novelist Manuel Rivas since it’s been noted that this kind of lexis is used actively to describe, on one hand, the special atmosphere that was reigning in Spain at that time and, on the other hand, to specify the speech portrait of the characters. According to the results of the analysis, the main challenges in translation were identified. These are the physical sound description, visual images based on metaphors and epithets, phonetic peculiarities and euresemy cases. We have found out that when the verbal image with a hearing component is traced on the denotative meaning (that is to say, used to represent language world picture), there is no problem in establishing the direct correspondence between two languages. The major problems in reproducing this type of lexis are faced when it comprises such functional, stylistics connotations and associative features that differ from those that exist in the target language. Then the in-depth semantic structure analysis is needed that will determine the special translation transformations, for example the use of functional correspondence or neutralization of the figure. Furthermore, the background knowledge of the recipient must be considered as the sound terms may contain additional implicit information as well. But one should always be aware of the possible stylistic losses that may be a result of this or that transformation. The awareness of it will ensure the content unity of the text that is being translated.
