The definitions of these concepts are clarified and the significance of the national-cultural code research for such a multinational language phenomenon as the English language is substantiated. The study of the national-cultural code is deter- mined by the following reasons: the analysis of the formation and manifestation of national-cultural codes as the main representatives of the conceptual and national-specific worldview in the minds of polynational English speakers in various lingual areas of the world (such as North American, Australian-New Zealand, Asian and South African lingual and cultural areas), as well as the study of the problem of the correlation of universal characteristics with unique features (namely national-specific ones) in lingual and conceptual representation of the world in the discursive practices of representatives of various national-linguistic-cultural communities in the system of polynational multi-variety lingual phenomenon – the English language.

The monument was copied out in Church Slavonic with some features of the vernacular primarily exhibited in phonetics and orthography. The study attempts to reveal the morphological phenomena that characterize the impact of the vernacular and contribute to broader language variation in the manuscript.\u0000\u0000It describes some of the morphological phenomena in different parts of speech (the noun, the adjective, the verb). Morphological features are compared in different parts of the monument: the four Gospels and the afterword. The latter contains the synthetic perfect form.\u0000\u0000The study examines language contamination observed in the combination of phonetic features of Church Slavonic and morphological features of the Ukrainian language such as the final -мо/-мw in verbs. It is essential to take into account the Second South Slavic Influence on the morphological characteristics of the text, e.g. orthographic change of о -w in the endings -ови/-wâè of masculine singular nouns in the dative case or in the final -мо/-мw of the first person plural verbs in the present tense.\u0000\u0000The study demonstrates that the text morphology is influenced by orthographic and phonetic variants h – è, h – å typical of the language continuum in Polissia.\u0000\u0000The article explains the interaction between the hard and soft types of declension in singular masculine nouns in the dative case under the condition that nouns with the former base in *jǒ acquire secondary flections -ови/-wâè.\u0000\u0000To characterize the morphological features of the Ruthenian variant of Church Slavonic, the Nobel manuscript was compared with the monuments of the same confession dating from the previous period of the 14th–15th centuries.\u0000\u0000A comparison with the Peresopnytsia Gospel, which is a translation into the Ruthenian (Old Ukrainian) language performed in Volyn, dating from the middle of the 16 century, gives grounds to confirm the conclusion about partial morphological changes in the Church Slavonic Gospel from Nobel and systemic features of the Ukrainian language represented in the translation from Persopnytsia.

It allows the wide audience to learn about the newest research results in various fields of science and technology. New scientific information is shared around the world mostly through translations. A particular research interest is taken in the quality of translation of science papers and the conformity of target texts to the scientific language norms. In Ukraine, there is a current need for highly-qualified translators of scientific texts into English, who can help the author of a science article to present worldwide new research results.\u0000\u0000It is important for translators to be knowledgeable about the basic rules of transition from the source to the target language, in rendering science texts. To take a rational translation solution, the translator should be competent in using translation devices and bring the source text into accordance with the norms of the language of science. The translator should be trained enough in the branch of knowledge the translation texts belong to. Our analysis of the Ukrainian-English translations of science articles in physics aims to establish the degree of equivalence of source and target texts and to evaluate the translation solutions that were chosen to achieve the text equivalence. The special research attention has been paid to the stylistic features of the language of science and the basic rules of manuscript language that should be a guide for a translator of scientific texts.

The author analyzes texts of the folk songs recorded by several Ukrainian and Bulgarian scholars from the descendants of the Bulgarian migrants in the last half of the 18th – 19th c., which are currently living in the regions of Odessa, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, and in the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea. The role of the vocabulary around the hydrosphere in the Bulgarian linguistic world image is researched. It is outlined that water is a universal symbol of the human life. Water is thought as a primary substance that has created the Earth and the live nature. It is used in different liminal rituals as something able to purify, to heal, to charge with the live power and to bless people. And this belief in the sacral properties of water are displayed in the Bulgarian folk songs. The author investigates the linguocultureme “water” and its implementations in “reservoir”, “well”, “spring”, “rain”, “Danube”, “sea” in the folk songs of the Bulgarians in Ukraine. It is established that “water” is a symbol of a border that must be overstepped. “Well” symbolizes the living space of a human, container of the unique sacral water that sacralizes the marriage and love. However, sometimes the well designates the adultery and lewdness. “Spring” is equal to the immortality given to a hero as a thank for the completed mission of the life. “Danube” is a mythic path between the known and unknown world, like “sea” it is a symbol of the separation with the home, and it is particularly true for the Bulgarian migrants whose ancestors had left the motherland. “Rain” represents the reciprocity between the human and the supreme forces. The analyzes of these implementation of the linguocultureme “water” shows the special role of the water in the Bulgarian linguistic world image.

Mischynska
The article highlights the issue of English social dialect invariants in contemporary Ukrainian society. Language varieties used in society reflect regional, social and ethnic belonging of people who use them. There exists interconnection between a language and society. Nowadays development of democratic values in Ukraine requires to use English as a second official language and academic programs in educational establishments are directed to learning English as a main foreign language. Ukrainian society fasces the perspective of implementing English sociolect invariants in various spheres of social life. Peculiarities of a language situation in Ukraine are reflected in the article. A language situation involves the relations that develop between language formations in a society. These formations are determined by many factors, the main of which are different social statuses of society members. In modern Ukrainian society there exist a wide range of formations speaking more than one language, therefore the language situation in Ukraine is exoglossic. English terms, professional and sociolect invariants are implemented in various spheres of social life in everyday use of Ukrainian people as a result of growing number of language contacts. In philosophy invariant is determined as ‘an invariable’. Main spheres of English sociolect invariants application are defined in the article. Such types of discourse as media-discourse and business-discourse can be considered the types of dis- course that have acquired the biggest number of terms, professional words and other socially marked words in Ukrainian society. Тhese types of discourse have the strongest impact on social life in a poly- cultural country. Such means of typology research as semantic maps has been used in contemporary linguistics. It is based on the notions that appeared in context of semantic fields research. Semantic fields include words with the common meaning. The methods of semantic field analysis are used in comparative linguistics.\u0000\u0000The comparative analysis of semantic fields of the business-discourse in the English and Ukrainian languages has pointed out to equivalent positions of professional terms and jargon words in these semantic fields. Existence of proper Ukrainian words and notions corresponding to English invariants with the same meaning has proved the universal nature of invariants.

It has experienced a dynamic development process from sentence modality to discourse modality. As the human factor in language has become the focus of linguistic research, the subjective factors embodied in language, namely subjective modality, have also received more attention and esearch.\u0000\u0000The mass media is one of the main objects of modern linguistics research. Its rapid dissemination and development have provided a large number of fresh corpus and many new research topics for linguistics. Subjective modality is one of the essential properties of mass media. As an integral feature of media text, subjective modality expresses the author’s evaluation and attitude towards the content, conveys the author’s emotions, reflects the author’s thoughts and worldview, and it is a means of interaction between the author and the reader. It directly affects and determines the definition, classification and characteristics of mass media.\u0000\u0000Doubt as an expression of personal attitude in the process of comprehending the facts and phenomena of reality is traditionally considered in the area of subjective modality and presented as one of the subjectivemodal meanings.\u0000\u0000This article uses mainly the methods of interpretation and analysis to introduce the doubt as one of the author’s subjective modality in modern mass media. By analyzing “Explanatory Dictionary” by Morkovkina, “Explanatory Dictionary of the Russian Language: 80,000 Words and Phraseological Expressions” by Ozhegov and “Explanatory Dictionary of the Russian Language” edited by D.N. Ushakova, we found that typical for expressing doubt is the use of indirect markers, namely: modal-doubtful particles, introductory-modal words, modal phrases. Based on variants of the semantics of doubt, described by I.G. Nikolskaia, using the text of modern Russian-language mass media as corpus, we have analyzed the typical contexts of expressing doubt in media texts, as well as its realization in modern Russian mass media texts.

Here was analyzed a concept set forth by US anthropologist W. Beeman, who states that communicative behavior of Iranians is regulated by strict difference between “inside” and “outside” space, which is expressed through stylistically marked means of speech. Also here was determined peculiar correlation between the concepts of “inside/outside” space and “inside/outside” behavior incorporated into Iranian worldview since the ancient times. In the situations, which speaker regards as “outside” (birun / zāher) he chooses a communication style in accordance with require- ments of ta’ārof politeness system, demonstrating difference in status of the interlocutors. And vice versa, in the situations regarded as “inside” (andarun / bāten) ones, he feels comfortable and relaxed, and uses in his speech expressions demonstrating friendliness and sincerity. Yet, when correlation between two frames of behavior is broken the “outside”-mode communication turns into “inside”, and “inside” – into “outside”-mode communication. “Outside” pattern of communication is useful when applied to the misbehaving persons. Unacceptable behavior of “high-ranking person” could well be moderated by intensifying the strategy of “self-lowering” and “other-rising” towards the counterpart, making use of stylistically based means of speech.\u0000\u0000It was pointed out to the negative aspect of the Persian politeness system, which allows manipulat- ing interlocutor. A method of proving the communicative influence of these nominations on delegitimizing the opponent is proposed. The object of the study is the names of the temporarily occupied territories of Luhansk and Donetsk regions of Ukraine and their representatives, elements of state formation, etc. Linguistic pragmatics with elements of logical semantics and discourse analysis became the theoretical and methodological basis of this work. In particular, the analysis bases on the theory of «double content» and the analysis of the Qualia structures of selected nominations, as well as the linguistic analysis of the discursive strategy of delegitimization of the opponent. We conclude that the use of privative adjectives and their equivalents restructures the semantic basis of the head-noun at the level of intentional meaning, namely, it does not deny the existence of these realia, but their ability to stand in line with other denotations of the nomination республіка, because the functional component undergoes constant semantic changes; the formal component is situationally restructured; the constitutive component does not change. The basic AdjprivN фейкова республіка and synonymous nominations, as well as derivative nominations of related realia, are communicatively aimed at delegitimizing the opponent and are widely used in official communication and in the media. Under the conditions of political uncertainty of the status of these formations and hybrid war, which poses a significant threat to the statehood of Ukraine, the use of AdjprivN prevents speakers from unconscious shifts of axiological accents and / or allows to recognize manipulations.

The author analyzes French politicians’ public speech as the mirror im- age of the French core national values. This research summarizes achievements in the field of cultural linguistics, pragmalinguistics and discourse analysis. Moreover, it provides leading modern scientists’ ideas about the genre of the congratulatory speech and its characteristics, highlighting major differ- ences between the congratulatory speech and other speeches. Much attention is given to the notion of “linguo-cultural concept”, defined as a core element of the French language and culture, and to its difference from the notion of “social representation” that is considered to be a basic unit in the field of French sociolinguistics. Applying linguo-cultural approach to the data, gained thanks to the use of the lexicometric software program Tropes, we defined five core linguo-cultural concepts in the New Year’s Eve addresses, namely la France, la Nation, la Liberté, l’Esprit cartésien and la Fraternité as objectively as possible. It is spoken in detail about verbal representations of the mentioned concepts. The author gives also the example of their use in the congratulatory speeches of Charles de Gaulle, Georges Pompidou, Valéry Giscard d’Estaing, François Mitterand, Jacques Chirac, Nicolas Sarcozy and François Hollande.
