The type of research used was a mixed method involving 65 SMP N 7 Muaro Jambi students. The data was obtained through the GETF cognitive style test, a mathematical modeling problem-solving test, and interviews. The results showed that students with the FI cognitive style had reached level 6 in modeling competence, namely, performing the entire process of mathematical modeling to interpret and validate solutions against the context of a given problem situation. Meanwhile, FD students up to level 4 can translate real problems into mathematical problems (mathematical models) but cannot use them correctly in mathematics, even though the quality of the models built by FD students is not appropriate to solve problems.","PeriodicalId":440747,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Pendidikan Matematika Universitas Lampung","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121758386","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The trial sample was taken using a non probability sampling technique, namely accidental sampling. Research Procedure The development that will be carried out in this study is taken from the Suryabrata development research procedure. This study uses Rasch model data analysis techniques. The results obtained 18 items of HOTS mathematics test items consisting of 15 multiple choice questions and 3 valid essay items. Based on the analysis of the level of difficulty of the questions in the field trial trials obtained on multiple choice questions, there are eight easy category items and seven medium category items. The developed media passed three tests, namely validity, practicality, and effectiveness tests. The instruments used in this study were validation questionnaires, student response questionnaires, and tests. The research was conducted at MA Al-Azhar Jombang which involved two classes with a total of 52 students. The results showed that the Flash Card learning media met the validity test with a score of 94% (very feasible) by mathematics lecturers and 87% (very feasible) by mathematics teachers. In addition, Flash Card learning media also improves student learning outcomes as evidenced by a sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 which indicates that there is a difference or influence in the use of media because the magnitude of the test results is < the set significance value level of 0.05. The use of Flash Card learning media also received a positive response from students as indicated by the large average number of assessments for each student response questionnaire point of 85.53%.","PeriodicalId":440747,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Pendidikan Matematika Universitas Lampung","volume":"776 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130781904","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Data were collected through the provision of mathematical connection tests and interviews. The test instrument consists of three questions that meet the indicators of mathematical connection. The results showed that students who had high problem-solving abilities, each problem solving were able to connect mathematical concepts, mathematics with other fields, and mathematics with everyday life. Students with moderate problem-solving abilities can solve all three of the HOTS-level evaluations related to mathematical connections, but have not been able to connect with other concepts. Most students need a better initial ability to participate in learning ratio problem-solving. On the other hand, if you have to prepare students to be ready to take part in learning mathematics, the teacher will experience difficulties, moreover, if the teacher has to give unequal treatment to every student before learning. Through a qualitative descriptive approach, this study aims to describe student errors in solving ratio problems in students with fairly good initial abilities. A total of 32 junior high school students in Klaten were research subjects and were given a preliminary ability test. According to the initial ability test that has been provided, it shows that more than 50% of students have a fairly good initial ability. All students with fairly good initial abilities were given a ratio problem-solving test. Based on the results of comparative problem-solving, two students were selected to be interviewed. From this analysis, it was concluded that students' errors in solving comparative problems include: understanding the problem (writing variables or problem information given), planning problem-solving (choosing problem-solving strategies, writing mileage formulas), and solving problems (substituting values into equations/formulas). , illustrating the problem into mathematical symbols), and reviewing problem-solving (writing conclusions, converting time measurement units).","PeriodicalId":440747,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Pendidikan Matematika Universitas Lampung","volume":"16 14","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120842612","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The results of this study indicate that the factors that cause difficulty in learning mathematics come from internal factors, namely the health of students who are not optimal, negative attitudes in learning mathematics, student interest, and student motivation is still low. External factors include the use of teaching methods that are less varied, the lack of use of learning media, the relationship between educators and students who are less close and the family environment.
