The tendency to combine ethical Sufism of al-Ghazali and metaphysical Sufism of Ibn Arabi, and the veneration of Sufi masters in the reading ritual of their hagiographies, and the emergence of certain heterodox Sufi  sects, all of these can be found along history of Islam in this region. On the other hand, there are social changes that have also influenced the colour of Sufism developed in certain period. In the 18th century, orthodox Sufism fought against pantheism which was presumably came from Hindu origin, but in the 19th and early 20th century, Sufism became a social movement, namely a certian Sufi Order that was involved in the war against the Dutch. In the later period, Sufism became the source of moral and spiritual strength in the face of social, cultural and political crisis. Moreover, since the Reformation Era, Sufi masters and their followers have become potential allies as voters for politicians. Keywords : sufism, banjar, tradition, social changes Abstrak : Tasawuf telah mempengaruhi kehidupan keagamaan Muslim Banjar di Kalimantan Selatan, sejak abad ke-18 hingga sekarang. Kecenderungan untuk menggabungkan tasawuf etis al-Ghazali dan tasawuf metafisis Ibn Arabi, penghormatan terhadap tokoh-tokoh sufi dalam ritual pembacaan manakib, dan munculnya kelompok-kelompok tasawuf sempalan, semua ini dapat ditemukan sepanjang sejarah Islam di daerah ini. Di sisi lain, ada berbagai perubahan sosial yang juga mempengaruhi corak tasawuf yang berkembang di masa tertentu. Pada abad ke-18, tasawuf ortodoks harus berhadapan dengan panteisme, yang diduga berasal dari Hinduisme, tetapi pada abad ke-19 dan awal abad ke-20, tasawuf menjadi gerakan sosial, yaitu tarekat tertentu yang terlibat dalam perang melawan Belanda. Dalam periode berikutnya, tasawuf menjadi sumber kekuatan moral dan spiritual dalam menghadapi krisis sosial, budaya dan politik. Here we recognize term of pesantren, school and madrasah, what we consider to be institution of Islamic education. However we need to know that in world of sufism also there is education institusionalization; and this matter also had experience of growth and played an important role the same well. It is considered to be semy formal education institute, which later called as zawiya, khanaqah, ribath, and tarekat. Here is also arranged by a curriculum, syillaby, educational items, and soon, as going into effect in education world in general. This paper will try to discuss about education institutions which emerge and expand among all sufi, with relevant things. Keywords : transformation, institution, sufi movement, ascetic, spiritual retreat. Abstrak : Dalam sejarah pendidikan Islam, kita tahu bahwa lembaga pendidikan Islam muncul dan berkembang dalam dunia Islam. Di sini kita mengenal istilah pesantren, sekolah dan madrasah, yang kita anggap sebagai lembaga pendidikan Islam. Kita juga perlu tahu bahwa dalam dunia sufisme ada pula institusionalisasi pendidikan, yang juga mengalami pertumbuhan dan memiliki peran yang sama pentingnya dalam dunia Islam. Dalam dunia sufistik, keberadaan institusi tersebut yang dianggap semiformal dikenal dengan istilah, misalnya Zawiya, khanaqah, ribath, dan tarekat. Mereka juga diatur oleh kurikulum, silabus, item pendidikan, dll, seperti yang berlaku di dunia pendidikan pada umumnya. While in the study of Sufism in the archipelago, the term saint (walī) has been known along with the spread of Islam began in the archipelago, and it refers to two meanings; as the person who has the occulties as the implications of the sanctity and walī as the ruler of a particular region. Regardless the definition and scope, the true doctrine of sainthood can not be separated from the teaching of the prophetic and apostolic message which implies the human world is not only the physical realm, but there is a metaphysical world that has not been known to human and from which the physical world is controlled. Keywords : saint (walī), miracles, Muhammadan light (Nūr Muhammadi), sainthood, prophethood, seal of the saint Abstrak : Artikel ini mendiskusikan dokrin Kewalian (al-walāyah) yang mempunyai basis yang kuat dalam al-Qur’an dan hadis dan isu ini secara sistematis dibahas melalui ajaran Ibn ‘Arabi yang kompleks. Sementara dalam kajian tasawuf di Nusantara, sebutan wali ini sudah mulai dikenal bersamaan dengan masuknya Islam ke negeri ini yang mengacu kepada dua pengertian, wali sebagai orang yang memiliki kesaktian-kesaktian (occulties) sebagai implikasi dari kekeramatan dan wali sebagai penguasa wilayah tertentu. Terlepas dari pengertian dan cakupannya, ajaran kewalian yang sesungguhnya tidak lepas dari ajaran tentang kenabian dan kerasulan yang menyiratkan pesan bahwa dunia manusia bukan hanya dunia material yang identik dengan kenikmatan hedonis, tetapi di balik dunia fisik terdapat dunia metafisik yang belum banyak diketahui manusia dan dari sanalah dunia fisik ini dikendalikan. Anti-wujūdiyyah Sufism campaign by al-Raniri quite successful to some extent to amputate the rate of development of philosophical Sufism was brought by Fansuri and Sumaterani in the one hand, and strike off the nature of moral Sufism in the other, redeemed by bloodshed. This article discussed the “superiority” of al-Raniri’s thought of Sufism, viewed from a broader spectrum, either in relation to problems of faith or theology and politics surrounding the circumstance of his time. Keywords : Philosophical tasawuf, neo-sufism, panteism, tajalli, God’s attribute Abstrak : Al-Raniri oleh banyak kalangan seringkali diposisikan sebagai tokoh “superior” yang diperlawankan dengan Hamzah Fansuri dan Syamsuddin Sumaterani, dan itu sebabnya para ahli memberinya predikat sebagai seorang pelopor pembaru (mujaddid) Islam di Nusantara. Anti tasawuf wujūdiyyah yang dikampanyekan oleh al-Raniri cukup berhasil mengamputasi laju perkembangan tasawuf falsafi yang dibawa oleh Fansuri dan Sumaterani di satu sisi, dan melancarkan laju corak tasawuf akhlaki di sisi lain, yang ditebus dengan cara pertumpahan darah. Tulisan ini mendiskusikan “superioritas” pemikiran tasawuf al-Raniri tersebut, dilihat dari spektrum yang lebih luas, baik menyangkut persoalan keyakinan atau teologi maupun politik yang mengitari situasi zamannya. In the realm on metaphysics, it has brought down the meaning of reality. In epistemological perspective, it has caused modern man to live and think in an isolated mental world that is alienated from objective reality. In the levels of ethics and psychology, it paves the way for flourishing any kind of self-centered standpoint and attitude such as individualism, egoism, racism, and anthropocentrism in the context of human and universe relation. We however find another kind of solipsism in the context of theology and religion (focused on Muslim community). Neo-Salafi  Wahhabi puritanism that appears to claim its doctrine as a purified version of Islamic teachings and tradition is essentially an elimination and alienation of Islamic Ummah from transcendent reality, universe, history, humanity, and civilization. Similar to Kantian ontological assumption, Wahhabi insists to believe in transcendent reality with denial of the gates and ways of understanding the reality as well as with removal the keys of revealing reality. Both Kant and Wahhabi reject the capability of human reason to grasp and understand the transcendent reality. Keywords : Agnosticism, noumenalism, phenomenalism, solipsism, Kant, Wahhabi, onto-epistemological solipsism, onto-theological solipsism, intellectuality, spiritual intelligence. Abstrak : Solipsisme, yang dirumuskan oleh tokoh filsuf modern Immanuel Kant, merupakan salah satu karakter utama filsafat dan pemikiran modern. Pada level metafisis, ia telah memiskinkan wawasan manusia modern terhadap realitas. Sementara pada level epistemologis, ia telah memenjarakan manusia modern dalam dunia subyektif mental belaka yang terisolasi dari realitas obyektif dan bahkan terasing dari realitas kemanusiaannya sendiri. Dalam wilayah praktis, yaitu psikologis dan etis, solipsisme melahirkan dan menyuburkan berbagai bentuk self-centered view seperti individualisme, egoisme, rasisme, dan juga antroposentrisme dalam konteks hubungan manusia dengan kosmos. Pandangan yang amat mirip dengan solipsisme modern tersebut juga ditemukan di sebagian umat beragama (Islam) yang mengusung gerakan pemurnian oleh kaum neo-Salafi Wahabi. Setelah mengisolasi dan memutuskan hubungan onto-epistemologis manusia dengan realitas transenden, keduanya – Kant dan Wahabi – menolak kapabilitas rasional manusia untuk mencerap dan memahami realitas transenden. But in modern era, especially after some inventions of modern science and technology, secular scientist in the West very proud of his intellectual ability to explore the nature. They neglect religion and even accused religion as an opium and illusion. In fact, human being cannot free from believing in Supra Natural Being because even though in the atheist community still respect the spirit of ancestors. Therefore, every effort to attack religion will fail because religion could not separated from basic need of human being and religion is the the sole doctrin of life in hereafter.  Naisbitt, a famous futurolog, also declares that the spiritual of religion will become dominant in new era.  Keywords : Futurolog, knowledge, organized religion, fundamentalism Abstrak : Sebelum era modern, agama menjadi lebih dominan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari manusia karena institusi agama adalah otoritas tunggal untuk memutuskan, baik aspek agama atau yang ilmiah. Tetapi dalam era modern, terutama setelah beberapa penemuan ilmu pengetahuan modern dan teknologi, ilmuwan sekuler di Barat sangat bangga akan kemampuan intelektual mereka untuk menjelajahi alam. Mereka mengabaikan agama dan bahkan menuduh agama sebagai candu dan ilusi. Bahkan, manusia tidak bisa bebas dari percaya pada keberadaan Supra Natural, meskipun komunitas ateis masih menghormati roh leluhur. Oleh karena itu, segala upaya untuk menyerang agama akan gagal karena agama tidak bisa dipisahkan dari kebutuhan dasar manusia dan agama adalah satu-satunya doktrin kehidupan di akhirat. Naisbitt, seorang futurolog terkenal, juga menyatakan bahwa spiritual agama akan menjadi dominan dalam era baru. In philosophical one, this conception could be traced since very ancient time of Greek until modern era of philosophy with various metaphysical view points. Spinoza was one of the philosophers whose famous metaphysical conception of God is basically a critique toward transcendental paradigm that detaches God from His creation entirely. In this case, he develops his own metaphysical system that rests upon “substance” as focal category. This paper seeks to discuss Spinoza’s metaphysical conception of God which represents his theological monism through his wide range elaboration on “substance”. Spinoza adalah salah satu filsuf yang konsepsi metafisikanya yang terkenal, pada dasarnya adalah kritik terhadap paradigma transendental yang melepaskan Tuhan dari ciptaan-Nya sepenuhnya. Dalam hal ini, ia mengembangkan sistem metafisik sendiri yang bersandar pada “substansi” sebagai kategori fokus. In the age of secularization and emancipation man masters the Nature with his growing reason and ever developing technology. This new situation brings with itself a discredit toward faith and religion. Without refusing the existence of God, Immanuel Kant declares that theology is a paralogism (a fallacious reasoning). Auguste Comte corners the religion in the realm of infantile age to be overcomed by the progress of science. Meanwhile Friedrich Nietzsche, from his own view, analyses that the phenomenon of fanatism in religion hides the uncontrallble “need to believe” typically found among the weaks.The central critique of Martin Heidegger toward ontotheological metaphysics shows that theology defined as science does not think. Man of faith has already all the answer before a question is posed, therefore he cannot truly pariticipate in the question of Being. This article tries to consider these objections against faith. As an answer, this article offers to acknowledge “the act of believe” as an universal disposition in man. Much wider than his need to possess knowledge, man is driven by a desire for the infinite. Faith resumes this human desire for infinite. Keywords : Emancipation, theology, metaphysics, faith, knowledge, way of belief, act of belief, passivity, infinite horizon, anthropological disposision. Abstrak : Iman menjadi problem di dunia modern. Gerak sekularisasi dan emansipasi manusia berkat perkembangan rasionya, yang tampak dalam penguasaan manusia atas alam lewat teknologi, membuat keyakinan pada Tuhan dianggap ketinggalan roh jaman. Meskipun tidak menolak Tuhan, Immanuel Kant menganggap bahwa teologi adalah sebuah paralogisme. Auguste Comte tegas-tegas mengatakan bahwa jaman teologi dan agama adalah era kekanak-kanakan yang harus dilampaui demi kemajuan jaman. Friedrich Nietzsche memperingatkan bahwa fanatisme dalam agama adalah tanda besarnya kebutuhan manusia untuk percaya, yang tidak lain adalah kelemahan diri manusia. Kritikan besar Martin Heidegger kepada metafisika onto-teologis semakin menunjukkan inferioritas iman di depan pemikiran. Beriman artinya tidak bisa berpikir secara sungguh-sungguh. Artikel ini hendak menimbang keberatan-keberatan atas iman di atas dan sekaligus menawarkan bahwa “tindak percaya” adalah sesuatu yang secara antropologis menjadi disposisi setiap manusia. Lebih luas daripada obsesi pada “pengetahuan”, manusia memiliki hasrat akan ketakterbatasan yang menemukan ekspresinya dalam apa yang kita sebut sebagai iman. Makalah ini juga akan menunjukkan pola argumentasi Ibn Sina dalam membuktikan kemungkinan pengetahuan dan menolak skeptisisme.  Mulla Sadra yang dianggap dipengaruhi oleh Ibn Sina, al-Razi dan Suhrawardi dalam mengkritik skeptisisme, mengungkapkan argumentasinya dalam karyanya Hashīyāt Elāhiyyāt al-Shifā’ and al-Asfār al-Arbā‘a. Kata kunci : Keraguan, skeptisisme, pengetahuan, kemungkinan pengetahuan, prinsip ketidakmungkinan dari kontradiksi, Filsuf muslim Abstract : Surveying some Muslim philosophers’ thoughts (from Ibn Sina to Mulla Sadra), this article attempts to indicated remarkable role of Islamic philosophy in intellectual confrontation with skepticism and expounds how much this tradition has been capable of enriching and deepening that discussion. h  is paper will also shows Ibn Sina’s pattern of proving possibility of knowledge and negating skepticism. Mulla Sadra who considered has been infl uenced by Ibn Sina, al-Razi, and Suhrawardi, in critizising of skepticism, he has dealt with this in his two works of Hashīyāt Elāhiyyāt al-Shifā’ and al-Asfār al-Arbā‘a. Two-ways relationship shaping a dyadic pattern, that is the encounter of Muslim with the local culture in which the regional and national states dimensions is being ignored, or vice versa, and also an encounter of Muslim with the nation states which forgetting the aspirations and local culture, yet to meet and to relate the two with international issues, either an encounter of religion and international community as well, is almost impossible to bring about the new problems within the  dynamics of the global era today. Thus, the role of philosophical interpretation and contemporary Islamic philosophy is to provide a discern socio-cultural analysis in its interplay more complete and accurate between regional, national and mondial. Keywords : Philosophical interpretaion, cultural encounters, the perma-nence, the change, univocality of being, gradation of being, maqāṣid sharī’ah, interpreted sharī’ah, Islamicate Abstrak : Tulisan ini mencoba menilik bagaimana sejarah agama-agama dunia, termasuk sejarah peradaban Islam, selalu mengalami, melalui dan mendokumentasikan proses hubungan perjumpaan yang bercorak kultural (cultural encounter), baik hubungan antara pusat dan pinggir (centre and periphery) maupun pengalaman perjumpaan di wilayah tapal batas (frontier). Hubungan dua arah yang bercorak diadik, yaitu perjumpaan pemeluk agama Islam dengan budaya lokal dengan melupakan dimensi regionalitas dan nasionalitas (nation states) atau sebaliknya, juga perjumpaan pemeluk agama Islam dengan negara-bangsa (nation states) dengan melupakan aspirasi dan budaya lokal, belum lagi menghubungkan dan memperjumpakan keduanya dengan isu-isu global-internasional (world citizenship), begitu pula perjumpaan agama dan masyarakat internasional dengan menepikan keterkaitannya dengan permasalahan lokal dan nasional (nation states) hampir-hampir tidak mungkin dapat menyelesaikan masalah-masalah baru pada era digital global seperti saat sekarang ini. Di sinilah peran tafsir falsafi dan filsafat Islam kontemporer dalam memberi ketajaman analisis sosial kultural dan saling keterkaitan antara regional, nasional dan mondial yang lebih utuh dan akurat.
