This article attempts to discuss the European, national, and local just transition policies and to assess the extent to which these policies are in line with the place-based model, as reflected in the Barca report (2009). The study reference area at the regional level is Western Macedonia, for which the transition towards an alternative, sustainable, and just path stands a very challenging policy exercise. The empirical section involved questionnaires with local specialists and professionals who hold profound knowledge and experience of the area. The results of the analysis revealed that just transition policies designed only at a European level demonstrate a high-level degree of relationship with the place-based model. The exact opposite seems to prevail at the level of national and regional policies.","PeriodicalId":244811,"journal":{"name":"Business Management and Strategy","volume":"1783 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129587563","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this analysis a systematic literature review is conducted. As a result 14 academic methodologies are acknowledged and compared according to their process models. Moreover, the research takes a special focus on organizational mindset in business model innovation and how it is reflected in modern methodologies. The study reveals that all evaluated academic methodologies are different in accordance to their focus as well as their level of detail of their described process steps. Among other findings, the topic organizational mindset is mentioned in two out of the 14 academic studies as an important element for successfully implementing a business model innovation. This implicates that overcoming the organizational mindset of established companies as a main barrier in business model innovation is not systematically concerned in any of the selected modern studies. In summary, the findings of this paper point out that the current academic business model innovation methodologies are not appropriate and supplementary exploration has to follow. Thus, two research gaps are acknowledged. First, the lack of level of detail concerning the process steps. Secondly, the lack of systematic integration of organizational mindset in the business model innovation steps.","PeriodicalId":244811,"journal":{"name":"Business Management and Strategy","volume":"378 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134009084","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this research is to identify how the bricolage effect on organization innovation through the recognition of opportunities. The prior study was adopted a causal and comparative design of a quantitative approach while a cross-sectional survey technique is determined to gather data by questionnaire. A simple random sampling technique is adopted to select 242 employees of various Chinese organizations who are working in Pakistan. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, ANOVA, and simple linear regression is regressed to analyze the data through inferential statistical techniques. The results of the study showed there is no substantial change of bricolage on organizational innovation by recognition of opportunities based on the number of staff, year of initiation, and position of the employee. However, it is suggested that organizations should hold training and conferences to raise awareness among workers about the recognition of opportunities and their benefits. This study could be useful to decision-makers, Chinese, and resident investors who plan to invest in Pakistan. Investors can take benefit from understanding the local economy and organization innovation by recognition of opportunities.","PeriodicalId":244811,"journal":{"name":"Business Management and Strategy","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125166707","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Even though, the application of project management practices in Africa shows positive project outcomes, the project management practices usage has been largely low. Hence, the study sought to determined the influence of project management practices on performance of Kenya’s Women and Girls Economic Empowerment program performance in Kiambu and Nairobi counties, Kenya. Specifically, the study sought to determine the influence of stakeholder’s involvement, project planning, risk management and monitoring and evaluation on program performance. The study was anchored on the stakeholder theory, prospect theory, contingency theory and realistic evaluation theory. This study adopted a census research design. The population targeted were staff of the CARE’s Kenya’s Women and Girls Economic Empowerment program comprising of project managers, project coordinators, quality control officers, government officials and beneficiary representatives. Semi-structured questionnaire was adopted for data collection. Descriptive statistics and multiple regression were utilized to analyze the quantitative data. The study revealed that risk management contributes the most to Performance of Kenya's Women and Girls Economic Empowerment Program followed by stakeholder involvement, Project Planning and monitoring and evaluation respectively. The study recommends that there is need to come up with more rigorous strategies for making sure that appropriate processes of monitoring and evaluation are adhered to. Further, the program needs to emphasize on risk management linked to empowerment of economy and make staff education on mitigation strategies its priority.","PeriodicalId":244811,"journal":{"name":"Business Management and Strategy","volume":"161 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124509842","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The focus was to ascertain whether there is a link between how government provides support to SMEs and sustainability of these SMEs. A maximum sample size of 384 SMEs was selected. Questionnaire approach was used to collect data from the owners and or managers of SMEs. Based on factor analysis, two components of structure of government support were established namely; quality of structure of government support and extent of policy implementation. To test the association of the variables, correlation analysis was carried out. The results from this analysis indicated that both components of structure of government support had significant association with SME sustainability in Uganda. Quality of structure however, had higher degree of association as compared to extent of policy implementation. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) analysis was carried out to check the degree of influence of structure of government support onto SME sustainability. The results indicated that both components of structure of government support have influence onto SME sustainability. Based on this, it was concluded that structure of government support has a significant association with and influence onto SME sustainability in Uganda. It was therefore recommended that there was need for government support towards SMEs to be properly structured in order to realize SME sustainability. The structuring needs to take into consideration the quality of the structure as well as extent to which SME policy is implemented.","PeriodicalId":244811,"journal":{"name":"Business Management and Strategy","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124000571","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A total of 384 SMEs were sampled for this purpose. From each SME, one respondent was considered. This respondent was either the owner or the manager. Survey method with specific focus on the use of closed ended questionnaire was employed in the study. Based on the factor analysis conducted on the data collected, three important components of business networks were established namely; quality of suppliers, operations of business associations and SACCOs as well as existence of loyal customers. To test the association, correlation and regression analyses were conducted. Results indicated that all components of business networks had significant association with SME sustainability in Uganda. Out of the three, quality of suppliers had the highest degree of association while operations of business associations and SACCOs had the lowest association. The same trend was reflected in the results from regression analysis with the exception of operations of business associations and SACCOs which did not have significant influence onto SME sustainability. Based on these results, it was concluded that quality of suppliers and existence of loyal customers had significant influence onto SME sustainability in Uganda. It was recommended that SMEs in Uganda need to focus on quality of suppliers as well as loyal customers in order to realize sustainability. These two types of business networks are therefore crucial to the sustainability of SMEs in Uganda. Though they did not have significant influence, business associations and SACCOs need not be ignored considering that they too had a significant association with SME sustainability.","PeriodicalId":244811,"journal":{"name":"Business Management and Strategy","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116824081","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
