Entrepreneurs' social capital can be influential in various ways in the creativity and innovation processes. Some studies focus on the benefits of social capital, while others focus on the current and potential negative consequences. The concepts of creativity, social capital and innovation in entrepreneurship and the relationships and connections between these variables constitute the subject of this study. All of the participants in the study were trained on entrepreneurship (511) and some of them (211) established their own business. The relational variables of the research are patent application and ownership of entrepreneur/entrepreneur candidates (as a concrete indicator of the innovation process); and independent variables are creative thinking disposition and social capital. While the social capital and creative thinking disposition levels of entrepreneurs are determined and measured by the scales, data regarding the ownership of industrial property rights (patents, utility models, etc.) are taken into consideration for innovation performance. According to the results of the analysis, it was observed that social capital had a positive effect on the creativity of entrepreneurs and innovation performance of enterprises.","PeriodicalId":244811,"journal":{"name":"Business Management and Strategy","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126042835","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Without risk, adventure tourism will lose their excitement and uniqueness. Managing risk in commercial adventure tourism operation is essential for the safety of travelers. The improper risk management in this business may lead to some issues such as injury and accidents. Risks involved in adventure tourism are frequently highlighted by the media, usually after a reported accident of fatality. The increased in the number of reported accidents by media in the adventure tourism sector recently, may give significant effect and harmful impact on business as well as the whole tourism industry. Thus, it is important for the commercial adventure tourism businesses and company providers to have effective tools and model(s) in managing the risk effectively to avoid any circumstances that lead to accidents in order for the business to run smoothly with high reputation and confidence of customers. This study explores whether or not Malaysian adventure tourism businesses adhere to any risk management guidelines or models. Two preliminary case studies of adventure tourism businesses in Malaysia illustrated that these businesses have no specific guidelines and risk management models that adventure tourism businesses should adhere to. In addition, findings from this study also demonstrated that no specific regulations imposed by the government for adventure tourism businesses to comply to. This study advises on the application and implementation of the Event Management Body of Knowledge (EMBOK) model as part of Malaysian adventure tourism businesses risk management responsibilities.","PeriodicalId":244811,"journal":{"name":"Business Management and Strategy","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126732655","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The new laws are described, explained, and, in some cases, shown in their application to real world problems, including outer space research and global strategic management issues. However, the main contribution of these discoveries is certainly the opening of new horizons for scientific research – the global strategic development of science. In the history of science, these new laws represent an opportunity for a heuristic leap. While in old times, it took about 50-100 years to discover one new law of conservation, the new approach offered by Robert Oros di Bartini and implemented by our research group, allowed us to discover 11 new laws of conservation within five years. It means 100 times acceleration! That's why this article is titled “Viva di Bartini!” It emphasizes the contribution of the great engineer and scientist, named a “prescient genius” by press, to the strategic development of science, including the first in the world MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR LAWS OF CONSERVATION that led to a revolutionary leap in developing new laws and new sciences, including the science of genius – Geniusology, first mentioned in 2003, published in 2004, as described in (Aleinikov, 2013a).","PeriodicalId":244811,"journal":{"name":"Business Management and Strategy","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128802163","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sustainable Competitive Advantage or SCA pushes organisations to adopt flexibility and dynamism into their systems, processes and culture. A study was carried out to determine the influence of BPM on SCA, and to identify the antecedents of BPM in creating SCA. One of the antecedents’ of the study was IT capability. The study was based on organisations in Malaysia. The results from the study revealed that IT capability failed to observe significant relationship to BPM and SCA. In an attempt to understand further this phenomenon, a series of interviews were carried out on 3 companies representing the telecommunications, consulting and manufacturing industries. The findings revealed that while IT capability is a “must-have”, there are numerous factors that may influence or hinder the effectiveness of IT capability implementation.","PeriodicalId":244811,"journal":{"name":"Business Management and Strategy","volume":"154 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123996702","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study used Altman’s Z-score bankruptcy evaluation model for evaluating bankruptcy rates of the sampled Islamic banks from Pakistan for the post-crisis period 2009-2015. ANOVA result shows the P-value with 0.002, which implies that the sampled Islamic banks from Pakistan do differ in their rates of bankruptcy. Regression results show that the variables liquidity and productivity ratios have a significant positive impact on the bankruptcy profile of the Islamic banking sector in Pakistan. While profitability and insolvency, ratios indicated an insignificant impact on the bankruptcy profile of the Islamic banking industry in Pakistan. The overall analysis of this study is viable to draw the attention of researchers and practitioners towards the deteriorating bankruptcy profile of the Islamic banking sector in Pakistan. The study also persuades the researchers to design a separate Shariah-based bankruptcy evaluation model for the Islamic banking industry of Pakistan.","PeriodicalId":244811,"journal":{"name":"Business Management and Strategy","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131332517","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the performance of GLCs remains a major concern. On the other hand, past studies have postulated that there is a strong relationship between corporate entrepreneurship (CE), entrepreneurial orientation (EO) and firm performance. Despite this, viewing GLCs’ performance in the context of CE or EO has received minimal attention among strategic management and entrepreneurship scholars. This paper highlights and discusses the performance of GLCs within the context of CE. Given the role of EO as a direct predictor while proposing CE internal and external factors as moderators of the EO-CE performance relationship in GLCs, a proposed framework of CE within the context of GLCs in Malaysia is proposed.","PeriodicalId":244811,"journal":{"name":"Business Management and Strategy","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133313363","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite having established framework and guidelines, the implementation of ERM at divisional level seemed to be lacking. There are gaps in the actual risk management practices that need to be studied and narrowed to ensure a more effective implementation of risk management. Therefore, the objective of this study is to identify characteristics of effective risk management practices and to gauge the effectiveness level at a telecommunication company. The gaps between the actual practices and the expected practices based on twenty-four (24) identified characteristics are identified and compared upon before recommendations are made to close the gaps and further enhance the risk management practices. For the purpose of this research the self-administered, web-based questionnaires were distributed to a total number of 130 engineers who were actively involved with network infrastructure planning, development and maintenance. The feedbacks received indicated that the respondents agreed with the identified characteristics of effective risk management practices and generally agreed that the effectiveness level of current risk management practices in the company is moderate or average. Furthermore, the gap analysis based on the variances indicates that there are rooms for further improvement. The study is important for more effective risk management practices in telecommunication companies.
