Our study covered a sample of 20 unlisted Moroccan family businesses, 8 of which are SMEs, 6 are large firms, and 6 are VSEs, through a qualitative research based on semi-structured interviews with the managers of family businesses. Our results explain the influence of Moroccan cultural specificities on the success or failure of the transfer of family businesses. Indeed, these influences essentially manifest themselves in three antecedents: the succession planning that Business Management and Strategy ISSN 2157-6068 2021, Vol. 12, No. 1 131 already reflects the intention to pass on the family business to the next generations, either by having a well-prepared plan, or an absence of a succession plan that leaves things to chance; the succession process that is influenced in part by specificities of Moroccan culture by granting privilege to the eldest male in the succession, and in another part this process becomes more rational by giving credit to successors competent to take over the family business in the case of large family businesses; and cultural constraints that are manifested mainly by the taboos surrounding the death of the predecessor and religious principles that similarly explain the different configurations of success or failure of the succession strategy of the family business. An extension of this work could be a multi-factor analysis in future researches.","PeriodicalId":244811,"journal":{"name":"Business Management and Strategy","volume":"321 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122987709","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Technological, Organizational and Environmental (TOE) Model is used as a basis to examine the determinants of web technology investments under three characteristics; technological characteristics (technology competence and web functionalities); organizational characteristics (firm size, firm scope, and managerial beliefs); and environmental characteristics (regulatory support and pressure intensity). Questionnaire surveys were sent to 169 companies listed in the directory of the Malaysian logistics industry. It was found that five factors (web functionalities (WF), firm size (FZ), managerial beliefs (MB), regulatory support (RS), and pressure intensity (PI)) significantly influenced web technology investment. This study provides a greater understanding on the perceptions of the Malaysian logistics industry towards web technology investment.","PeriodicalId":244811,"journal":{"name":"Business Management and Strategy","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130140961","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the Covid-19 pandemic has shocked and dampened global sustainable development efforts. Malaysian manufacturing small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are not exempt from this tragedy, as they have suffered economically, socially, and environmentally. The goal of this paper is to establish sustainable manufacturing practices (SMPs) as a dynamic internal strategic action for manufacturing firms that transforms firm capabilities into sustainability performance. The authors conducted an extensive literature search to explore global sustainability issues and narrowed the scope to issues encountered by Malaysian manufacturing firms. The most commonly used terminologies of sustainability, sustainable practices, and sustainability performance were subsequently analyzed to conceptually develop a holistic framework for future studies. Specifically, the authors proposed an explanatory quantitative study to comprehend the link between firm capabilities and multidimensional sustainability performance with the integration of SMPs as a mediator. The results of the analysis would provide useful recommendations for the manufacturing sector and directions for future studies. Additionally, this paper enriches the theory of the Dynamic Capability View by bringing in the sustainability model to explain the development process of sustainability performance among Malaysian manufacturing SMEs. This article does not just inform firms and authorities on the importance of SMPs for superior performance but also guides firms towards understanding and improving their current SMPs. Managers in the manufacturing sector would benefit from this paper by learning and implementing effective sustainable strategies in their operations management to improve sustainability-related outcomes.","PeriodicalId":244811,"journal":{"name":"Business Management and Strategy","volume":"32 11","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114038157","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Consumers gradually become aware of the effect of their consumption behaviour on the environment and make a difference. Social media, particularly Instagram, play a major role in increasing awareness and promoting environmentally friendly behaviour. Hence, it is crucial to investigate the impact of Instagram on green consumption intention, which is the best predictor of behaviour. By reviewing the existing literature, the current study develops a conceptual model regarding the effect of Instagram influencers’ green activity on followers’ intention. As the model proposes, green attitude and green consumption intention are shaped among followers by the Instagram influencers’ green concern, green photo content, and green word of mouth (WOM). Additionally, it is proposed that the perceived credibility of followers moderated the link between green WOM and green consumption intention. The study contributes to the body of knowledge by developing a new model that helps identify green consumption intention determinants.","PeriodicalId":244811,"journal":{"name":"Business Management and Strategy","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116285836","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most studies have focused on establishing the level to which TQM practices influence customer satisfaction and not the whole organization. There is also little evidence on how marketing practices influence organizational performance. This study therefore seeks to assess the impact of Total Quality management practices and marketing on organizational performance. Data was collected from a sample size of 289 respondents who were employees of the different manufacturing industries in Greece. Data was analyzed using SPSS and Pearson’s rank correlation coefficient was used to establish the relationship between study variables. The study findings confirmed the presence of a relationship between TQM practices and organizational performance. Similarly there was a positive relationship between marketing practices and organizational performance. The study concluded that the TQM practices and marketing are great influencers of quality hence should always be applied in organizations.","PeriodicalId":244811,"journal":{"name":"Business Management and Strategy","volume":"366 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123190298","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition, looking back on the past the companies often encounter the phenomenon of Real Estate Bermuda Effect. Are the key factors for the successful operation of Taiwan's publicly-listed construction companies-good Sales Ability (SA) and Product Planning and Design (PD) can better respond to the above-mentioned adverse environmental changes? This study mainly aims to verify the impact of Taiwan's publicly-listed construction company's Sales ability (SA) and Product planning and design (PD) on Financial performance (FP) by using Macro environmental Factors (ME) as an interference variable. In this study, the population was sampled by Purposive Sampling and the directors or above as the research interview object. In addition, this study used the database of Taiwan Economic Journal (TEJ) to obtain the company's EPS information, and Linear Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used to verify the fitting effect of the Whole model, Structural model and Measurement model.The results show that Taiwan's publicly-listed construction company’s Sales Ability (SA) and Product Planning and Design (PD) , both of which have positive effects on Financial Performance (FP) respectfully, but not significant; however, adding the Intervening variable of Macro Environmental Factors (ME), both has a positive and significant interactive effect on Financial Performance (FP). This means that Macro environmental factors (ME) plays a very important positive impact role in promoting Financial Performance (FP), but Financial Performance (FP) is also affected by the aggregation of other factors such as both of Sales Ability (SA) and Product Planning and Design (PD) which were combined or to be considered at the same time.This finding can be used at least as a reference for the business decision makers of Taiwan publicly-listed construction companies as sustainable business management and development.","PeriodicalId":244811,"journal":{"name":"Business Management and Strategy","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124923557","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study employs five case studies using a qualitative approach. Studying multiple cases is considered more reliable as it permits replication and extension. The qualitative approach helps to build a holistic picture, which allows for the assembling of a comprehensive and complete report of the issues under investigation. The research finds that workers’ compensations in most privatised case study organisations are less than their counterparts in comparable state-owned and privately-owned organisations. The findings have important implications for the privatisation programmes in Bangladesh as the study focuses on workers who are the major workforce of privatised organisations and generates qualitative data that provides greater insight into the impact of privatisation on workers’ compensation in Bangladesh.","PeriodicalId":244811,"journal":{"name":"Business Management and Strategy","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122846957","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A qualitative study was conducted in Mashonaland West province in Zimbabwe. Data was collected through telephone interviews from 16 informal business women entrepreneurs in the retail sector. The participants were involved businesses that include; vegetable vending, operating clothing flea market and cross border trading. The study established that business for women entrepreneurs in the informal sector were affected by inter-province travelling regulations. It was also established that women were most affected as they are responsible for making sure that children are fed on daily basis. To make matters worse, some were widows and others were looking after many orphans. This to a larger extent encouraged cases of strained relationship in the home because of inadequate resources especially food. Cases were also reported of gender-based violence because all members of the family were now spending most of their time together with little resources to use in looking after the family. Thus, health problems such as high blood pressure and were also witnessed. The study recommended the government to provide protective equipment and sanitizers to women entrepreneurs and informal traders so that they can safely continue to produce, distribute and sell their merchandise. The government should assist with transport for smallholder farmers to ferry their produce to markets safely. Also, the government was recommended to communicate with market leaders about how to best handle a lockdown and reopening.","PeriodicalId":244811,"journal":{"name":"Business Management and Strategy","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133335878","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
