It is generally agreed that creativity (a manifestation of structure and functional brain processes) defines the potential of society, and it has been explored in several aspects (e.g. from physiological, social, psychological, developmental, cognitive, and historical perspectives). Actually, if the brain is the object of investigation of the cognitive science and thus neuroscience, creativity is an integral part of human achievement and social and technological development. Over the years, it has been hard to create research protocols that associate both lines, though recently attempts have been made to connect those issues, exploring the benefits of a transdisciplinary methodology. Aim of this work is to explain the biological basis of creativity processes in order to highlight possible developments of ICT technologies to simulate, support and empowering its complex pathways.","PeriodicalId":236400,"journal":{"name":"2020 11th IEEE International Conference on Cognitive Infocommunications (CogInfoCom)","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123486015","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This algorithm can adapt to the needs of the patients as it combines the cognitive property of intelligent decision-making systems with the human-computer interaction-based movement therapy. This algorithm is built upon the earlier work of the authors and it uses six various mean techniques to classify gesture descriptors. The preliminary results and a plan of evaluating the algorithm are presented in this paper.","PeriodicalId":236400,"journal":{"name":"2020 11th IEEE International Conference on Cognitive Infocommunications (CogInfoCom)","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121144158","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When looking into a high-intensity light source and suddenly turning away from it, a temporary “ghost” of the light source remains in perception, for a while. A highly saturated, coloured incident light has a different effect on the three types of cone cells. Therefore, the fast change in the colour of incident light triggers different intensity afterimage on the different types of cones, and the observer perceives a colour afterimage disappearing in a between 10- and 100-second timescale. By choosing incident light colours, colour afterimages can be applied in visual design, like in modern, dynamic advertising. Our previous work describes simulation of colour afterimages triggered by given colour combinations. For the validation of simulation, preliminary tests were performed with 20 subjects. Test results suggested the possibility of age dependence of intensity and duration of colour afterimages. In this work, we present the experimental results of 28 observers with different ages and gender. The disappearing time and perceived initial “intensity” of the colour afterimages were measured in nine fast colour transition cases.","PeriodicalId":236400,"journal":{"name":"2020 11th IEEE International Conference on Cognitive Infocommunications (CogInfoCom)","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133976686","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Personalization is needed to make a product or service or an educational environment more endearing to the target audience, and this is especially true for VR Learning. The paper examines the learning effectiveness connecting to the personalized learning content with the participation of 90 students. The personalized VR education was based on an examination of students' learning type and attribute. In the experiment, the same curricula is compared when executed using audio, visual or reading type of learning content. To determine the learning style of students, the Kolb's learning test were applied. Tests show that the users were able to complete the tests with at least 20% effectiveness, if the learning materials fits their learning type.","PeriodicalId":236400,"journal":{"name":"2020 11th IEEE International Conference on Cognitive Infocommunications (CogInfoCom)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132638535","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The goal of our paper is to present examples for ugly program code and its transformation into a pretty version. These examples are useful to test and teach their systems. What does ugly code and pretty code mean? In an ugly code there is redundancy, which means that we have anomalies. Pretty code means that it has the same functionality as the ugly one, it follows a design pattern, and there is no redundancy. Our work is motivated by the fact, that we could not find a similar work, although, we work on an automated design pattern tool, so we think that there is a need for ugly and pretty code examples. This work contains examples for the design patterns: Null Object, Template Method, State, and Strategy. We do not discuss how to refactor the ugly code into a pretty one. The program codes are presented in Java.","PeriodicalId":236400,"journal":{"name":"2020 11th IEEE International Conference on Cognitive Infocommunications (CogInfoCom)","volume":"303 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116219372","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Characters were recognized from video frames by open-source program OCR Tesseract. The OCR in this program (from version 4) is based on Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN) and it uses text post-processing by bigram language model. However, the resulting recognized text contains a number of errors. In some images, the text is not detected and recognized correctly or it is not detected at all. We have designed and tested image pre-processing and text post-processing methods for OCR error reduction.
