Opportunity for geovisualization in different software environments

Abstract

The volume of data that are related to any geographic location keeps going. Geographic information systems are designed to deal with these data which includes their visual representation as well. People, and researchers would like to see their data on maps, but their possibilities can be rather diverse. When selecting the appropriate way, the latest emerging technologies should be considered as well. This paper discusses some traditional possibilities for geovisualizing our data, and a novel one from the field of business intelligence.
