It has been found that the English borrowed component “art” is well adapted to the recipient language. This is evidenced by its active use in both oral and written speech, the ability to be used independently with a fixed meaning, high word-forming productivity. It is revealed in the texts of the mass media that English borrowing “art” functions in the modern Ukrainian as a inflective masculine noun of the second declension of the hard group with the semantics “art, fine arts”. It is observed that having entered the modern Ukrainian lexical system, it takes an active part in word formation, showing high productivity in the process of forming compound nouns. Two models of forming new nouns with the component “art” are differentiated, in which “art” with the meaning “artistic” is the first part of a compound word and “art” with the semantics “art” is the second part of a new lexeme. It is established that the first model is the most productive because of the largest number of these nouns in Ukrainian. It is proved that according to their grammatical nature lexemes with “art” as a reference word are not Ukrainian juxtaposites, as they are not formed on the basis of the Ukrainian, but are borrowed in it like ready-to-use integral lexical units, which speakers adapted to the grammatical structure of modern Ukrainian. In accordance with the current spelling rules the nouns with borrowed component “art” have to be written together. Found in the texts of mass media and oral speech the new lexemes with two prepositive foreign attributives are classified as juxtaposites with a declension of the second part; it is recommended to write them in accordance with the norms of the current “Ukrainian spelling” with a hyphen. It was found that the names of establishments, events, places of cultural events, etc., which consist of proper names or abbreviations combined with borrowing “art”, completely copied from the English word formation, are not typical for Ukrainian and artificially adapted to it in violation of current spelling rules. The article offers their alternative names that meet the grammatical and spelling rules. The analysis of the peculiarities of the adaptation of English borrowed component “art” in the modern Ukrainian will promote a faster study of the grammatical nature of borrowings, their word-forming potential, the correct linguistic qualification of new derivatives and their further normalization.","PeriodicalId":228347,"journal":{"name":"Vìsnik Marìupolʹsʹkogo deržavnogo unìversitetu Serìâ Fìlologìâ","volume":"141 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129287115","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The analysis is based on one of the urban ecology sections of “physical factors of urban pollution”. Identifying similarities and differences in the terminological systems allows us to bring the basis for a comparative-typological study of terms, both in the field of lexical semantics and in the field of lexical morphology. In modern linguistics, the question of the existence of antonymous relations in terminological systems is debatable. As you know, science has repeatedly stated that antonymous relations are not inherent in the terms, and it is indicated that it is more of simple division, delimitation of concepts, rather than their opposition. These ideas are typical for such scientists as L. O. Novikov or L. A. Bulakhovsky, who denied the existence of monosyllabic antonyms. But according to today's leading scholars, lexical antonymy is inherent to the scientific language even more than to the literature language. The antonymy is even more specific to terminological units than synonymy or polysemy. The phenomenon of terminological antonymy is quite widespread in terminological vocabulary, the only question is which of these varieties are inherent to the scientific field. According to V. P. Danylenko, “two structural types of antonyms in the language of science are used – lexical and word-forming”. The lexical type of antonymy is quite widely represented in the studied term system. Central to determining the lexical antonymy of the terminology of urban ecology is the concept of opposition. The logical basis of antonymy is formed by incompatible opposite species concepts (contrasting and complementary). The contrary difference is expressed by highly symmetric members of an ordered set (contrasting species concepts), between which there is a middle intermediate term. As you can see, in the compared versions of the studied urban ecology terminology, the picture is almost the same. The word-forming type of antonymy is expressed through the regular use of prefixes. Most often there is an alternation of prefixes with its absence. The only difference is that in English and French such prefixes have not completely lost their own meaning. The vector difference is also manifested. The only difference is that such prefixes have not completely lost their own meaning and in some cases are written with words not together, but through a hyphen. The study presented allows us to conclude that antonymic relations are inherent in the term system of urban ecology and play a significant role in structuring the concepts of given scientific field. So, if the synonymy inherent in this terminology to some extent deprives it of its accuracy, introduces variability into it, the antonymous relations, on the contrary, are the manifestation of its consistency and integrity.","PeriodicalId":228347,"journal":{"name":"Vìsnik Marìupolʹsʹkogo deržavnogo unìversitetu Serìâ Fìlologìâ","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125456829","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This article examines some specific issues of his creative work, based on the novel “House without Guardians”, which are related with the problems of the German people after the Second World War and of the modern world. It is so because human society is still suffering from wars, racial intolerance and the broken souls of people who have faced such conflicts. The postwar German literature was the starting point of a new era – a new turn, when the past couldn’t exist anymore, and something new should be created. The first step for literary inspiration was the newspaper “Der Ruf”, it was a magnet for the new generation of authors – pioneers, for example W. Borchert was published here, he spoke out as the new against-war-generation. Therefore, it was not a surprise that Heinrich Boell joined the magazine too, so he wished to be a part of that new Literature of the Ruins (Trümmerliteratur). The next landmark union was the Group 47, which gave a rise to many young, unknown authors, who supported the democratization of society and the creation of a literature free from the ideological influence of Nazism. The interest toward such an issue like the individual fault for the war was shown many writers (I. Bachmann, H. Grass, Z. Lenz, H. Richter, M. Walzer, etc.). Heinrich Boell was among them. His creative life was closely connected with the activity of the Group 47. The short story “Black Sheep” (Die schwarzen Schafe, 1951) “went public” during one of such meetings. The talented writer was rewarded and asked to join the organization without delay. In the 1950s, he wrote the novels “Der Zug war pünktlich” («The Train Was on Time»), “Wanderer, kommst du nach Spa...” (1950), “Wo warst du Adam?” (“And Where Were You, Adam?” 1951), “Und sagte kein einziges Wort”, (“And Never Said a Word” 1953), “Billard um halbzehn” (“Billiards at Half past Nine” 1959), in each of them one can find the author's concept of “futility”. According to him, the meaninglessness of war is measured by its destructive power and mass murder. The war can’t be a “noble mission” using the idea to «clean» the society from the evil ideologies. The war has no patriotism and faith. Boell had a strong interest to the psychology of the young people who were in the center of tragedy. They had a very unpleasant choice – to be cannon fodder or defectors. The writer brought up the wrong ideals situation. He spoke categorically about glorifing heroic deaths, calling them a fiction or a bargaining coin of the politicians. The writer's works were in opposition to the official optimistic ideology. Boell wanted to emphasize not only physical, but first of all the psychological scars of the survivors. His characters had no place in stable life of the present reality, all their thoughts were about the past. A bitter taste of their past was the guarant","PeriodicalId":228347,"journal":{"name":"Vìsnik Marìupolʹsʹkogo deržavnogo unìversitetu Serìâ Fìlologìâ","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126368201","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is well-known that mass media is a center of spreading and informing the news all over the world about urgent issues, changes, deterioration or improvement of the situation regarding COVID-19. Language, which is very susceptible to the world changes, immediately responds to changes in the society, and reflects current events, fixing them at the lexical level. Particular attention should be paid to the phraseological level. This is due to the fact that phraseological units accumulate specific information about everyday life and imaginable situations, objects, and relationships, and therefore become an excellent tool for conceptualizing reality. This performs the function of symbolic replacement not only of the object of the figurative nomination itself, but also of the speaker’s attitude to it. The Coronavirus discourse determines this choice by pragma-linguistic task facing the subject of the speech ‒ the need to adapt to pandemic, which means to simulate typical situations and to form a corresponding linguistic paremic space. In journalism there are a lot of methods that attract the attention of their readers. Phraseological units add interest and uniqueness to each story in news articles, thereby adapting it for readers. Phraseological units make it easier to perceive new, complex, and possibly terrifying information in articles that cover the topic of COVID-19. That’s the reason why phraseological units are quite common in the mass media. In this research, the classification for periodicals was analyzed. According to Konovets, classification was based on their pragmatic functions in journalistic texts and their degree of idiomatic sense and divided into functional and figurative phraseological units. A number of advantages of using phraseology explains their frequent use in the modern periodicals. But journalistic text as a platform for phraseology is quite an unexplored domain and few scientific works testify this fact. In the course of translating phraseological units, the translator must take into consideration that the most significant existing task is to convey the meaning and idea of the source language. On the basis of coronavirus articles, it became obvious how important it is for the translator to understand what kind of phraseological units need to be interpreted in the target language. If possible, the interpreter conveys all the important components of the phraseological unit. A skilled interpreter, throughout the translation process, uses several types of translation. The type of translation affects the meaning and emphasizes the differences between two languages.","PeriodicalId":228347,"journal":{"name":"Vìsnik Marìupolʹsʹkogo deržavnogo unìversitetu Serìâ Fìlologìâ","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130964976","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At the centre of the authors' scientific interests are unextended sentences of verbal type. The investigation was carried out with the presupposition of the opinion of leading modern syntacticians on the division of simple sentences or parts of complex sentences into extended and unextended ones and the recognition of the minimal structural elements by syntactic units, self-sufficient for forming and expressing predicative basis. The object of the study was unextended verb-type sentences without obligatory predicate components. The analysis includes not only sentences consisting of a subject and a predicate (two-member sentence) or a main clause (one-member sentence sentence), expressed by an absolute verb, but also those that can be distributed by optional components, as well as sentences of complex structure. The material for scientific research was a discourse of high functional-stylistic and individual-speech quality, accumulated in Oles Honchar's novels «Cathedral» and «Your Star». Among the verbs of the modern Ukrainian language, which model unextended sentences of verbal type, the following semantic groups are distinguished: verbs that express action as a lesson, skill, duty; verbs representing the psychophysiological state; verbs of movement, motion; verbs with the meaning of «transformation», «transition», «emergence of a new feature», «strengthening of a feature or quality»; verbs denoting sounds; verbs with the meaning «to take place», «to be» (about the natural phenomena). The main attention in the article is focused on the semantic and syntactic organization of unextended sentences. For this purpose, semantic types of verbs of the modern Ukrainian language are singled out and illustrated with extensive examples, which compose unextended sentences of verbal type in Oles Honchar's belles-lettres communication. Their analysis showed that the writer prefers the verbs of movement, motion and especially those verbs that express the psychophysiological state. Oles Honchar rarely uses verbs that express action as a lesson, skill, duty. The verbs denoting sounds represent a small group either. Verbs with the meaning «to take place», «to be», reproducing the natural phenomena are more frequent. The verbs denoting «transformation», «transition», «emergence of a new feature», «strengthening of a feature or quality» took a borderline position in terms of usage frequency. Based on the analysis of uncommon verb-type sentences without obligatory predicate components in Oles Honchar’s belles-lettres communication, a general conclusion is made that their meanings form a complex of heterogeneous semantic elements. Semantic-syntactic differential features of such sentences are due, among other things, to the self-sufficient semantic content of absolute verbs-predicates.","PeriodicalId":228347,"journal":{"name":"Vìsnik Marìupolʹsʹkogo deržavnogo unìversitetu Serìâ Fìlologìâ","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122996697","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The term “democratization” is used to denote one of the leading factors in the history of language development, which influenced on its stability and caused various changes in it, which often coincide with the social and historical processes in the state. The democratization of the language has led to the simplification and alignment of various forms in the language, the blurring of literary language norms and the boundaries between its functional styles, the shattering of established traditions. However, these processes are appropriate not only to the current state of the Ukrainian language, as the spoken part of the language influenced the formation and dynamics of the modern Ukrainian literary language during its long development. The renewal of the syntactic system of the modern Ukrainian language took place against the background of the penetration of spoken language samples into the belles-lettres style, and later – into other styles of language (publicistic, official style, scientific, etc.). The results of the study confirm that the means of expressive syntax generally update the syntactic system of the language. The tendency to language democratization (orientation of written standardized language to oral speech) and to its simplification is manifested not only in stylistic way, but also in structural one, i.e. in changing of the syntactic structure of the sentence. Conversational constructions are used to create emotionally expressive patterns, imagery and the text efficiency. The end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century marked by the dominance of postmodernism as an artistic style focused on the environment, the mainly unstructured world. The basis of the postmodern text is irony and play. The freedom one has with the latter, encourages the search of a new stylistic behavior, a new idiosyncrasy of the author, a deviation from the established syntax and usual ways of writing. The language play is not only the main feature of Ukrainian postmodernism, but also the basis of the literary text of postmodernism. Furthermore, at the beginning of the 21st century means of expressive syntax are used not only in artistic but also in publicistic styles. The most common syntactic means of saving the meaning in modern Ukrainian syntax are omission and substitution, elimination of sentence extenders, compression and reduction, heterogenuous coordination, syntactic merging, activation of phraseological sentences, intertextuality, increase in analytical units of syntax.","PeriodicalId":228347,"journal":{"name":"Vìsnik Marìupolʹsʹkogo deržavnogo unìversitetu Serìâ Fìlologìâ","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114155027","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Today, dialectical discourse is perceived not as a deviation from the literary norm, but as another, equal form of the national language with significant linguistic and communicative potential. Polissya is characterized by a diverse ethnic composition, which makes this region, an area of multilateral intensive ethnic contacts, and creates the preconditions for the study of interlingual and interdialectal interactions. The source of the study is the actual material collected in 4 localities: Terekhivtsi, Malynivtsi, Tovstolis, Stasy. The main geohistorical data of the villages subordinated to the Terekhiv rural community are established, which explain the peculiarities of the formation of vocal and consonant systems of speech, word-changing paradigms. It was found that the speech of dialect speakers was formed under the influence of the languages of countries that played a significant role in the history of Chernihiv: the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Russia, Belarus. Phonetic and morphological features of speech as a separate microareal of dialect space are revealed and characterized. Dialectal differences proved to be multifaceted, both in their meaning and in their functional yield. At the level of vocalism and consonantism, the most notable phenomena are “akanya” (karomyslo, ad'in, stayat); “dzekannya” (dz'akuvalá, dzadz'ko) the presence of the diphthong ie (d'evchini, b'iel'en'k'iy, hm'iel'u); crossing of sound fields / i / and / y / (vkral'i, sakol'ik, z'imu); preservation of the relic of ancient softness [h'] (chi, khoch', vódoch'k'i); getting harder [ts′] (khlóptsy, vyétsa, zhýrytsa). Among the mophological features the most characteristic are the ancient ending -e and the absence of elongation in the nouns of the second declension of the middle gender (káhane, plákan’e), short forms of masculine adjectives in N. v. (sl’ip, smut’ón, ves’ól), unstressed forms of adjectives of the middle gender (saldatskóye, bahátoye), forms of the past tense (býla z vám’i s’edalá). It has been established that the Terekhiv sub-dialect has many dialectal features that are common of the transitional dialects of the Ukrainian language Polissya dialect. Significantly expressed is the influence of the Belarusian and Russian languages. In addition, the sub-dialects of this region, like most sub-dialects of the Polissya area, retain a number of archaic features.","PeriodicalId":228347,"journal":{"name":"Vìsnik Marìupolʹsʹkogo deržavnogo unìversitetu Serìâ Fìlologìâ","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123955910","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The language of works of different periods has its peculiarities, which are objectively due to various factors, including historical events, the influence of foreign culture, the state of the literary process in the country, literature traditions and so on. Literature texts provide an opportunity to trace how prepositions functioned in the poetry of the XIX century and compare with modern trends, to identify similarities and differences of grammatical and semantic meanings. The texts by Levko Borovikovsky, Opanas Shpyhovsky, Ambrose Metlynsky, Mykola Kostomarov, Oleksandr Afanasyev-Chuzhbynsky, Viktor Zabila, Mykhailo Petrenko, and Oleksandr Korsun were selected for analysis. The purpose of the research is to identify the peculiarities of the use of prepositions in the poetic language of this period. A selection of examples of the prepositions use from the works of Ukrainian poets allows us to trace the dynamics of their use. The study identified the most commonly used prepositions and traced the functions and features of grammatical connections on the example of individual units. The use of archaic prepositions (к, об, од) is recorded. The construction of the dative case of a noun with the preposition “к” was widely used in ancient Ukrainian dialects. In modern literary language, this preposition is preserved in phraseology. Instead, the construction with the preposition “до” and the noun in the genitive case is actively used. Differences in the use of prepositions in the analyzed texts and modern language are revealed. The preposition “об” is now more actively used to denote temporal relations rather than object relations, although in the past it represented object relations quite widely. The use of parallel constructions (к – до, край – під – у, поміж – помеж), phonetic variants of prepositions (з – із – зо – ізо), prepositions that are stylistic synonyms (повз, поуз, проз) is traced. The revealed changes of grammatical and semantic meanings of prepositions, displacement of archaic constructions testify to the processes of language transformation and its constant development.","PeriodicalId":228347,"journal":{"name":"Vìsnik Marìupolʹsʹkogo deržavnogo unìversitetu Serìâ Fìlologìâ","volume":"189 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131684676","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Irod, one of the leading representatives of Ukrainian literature in Romania. The author analyses problem-thematic and genre-style features of the writer’s novels and short stories found in the collections of poems «Light and Shadow» (1974), «White Piano» (1990), «From Yesterday to Tomorrow» (2014), «Chixuri» (2015). They are characterized by a philosophical insight into the meaning and the essence of human existence. The writer focuses on the moral-ethical and social-psychological challenges of his reality and interprets them from the standpoint of universal spiritual values. With exceptionally sharp irony and humour, he poses the question of moral choice, especially when it comes to loyalty and betrayal, mercy and cruelty, conscience and hypocrisy, and honesty and meanness. It is emphasized that K. Irod is a skillful storyteller, whose creative personality is manifested in the variety of themes and genre-style abundance. The external plot of his works consistently reveals some secret, solves an unexpected riddle, investigates a certain puzzling story, etc. Some of his works are characterized by elements of adventure, detective genre, romantic mini-novel, bitterly funny (according to the writer’s definition) memories, etc. The main attention of the article is paid to the tetralogy «Holiday», which includes four novels: «The Eve» (1975), «Morning» (1984), «The Sun in the Eyes» (1988) and «The Enemy of My Enemy» (2022). Each of them is an independent finished piece of work. According to the artistic design, plot development, conflict and main characters, it forms a complete epic work about the village called Zlatna in the South Bukovyna region in the middle of the 20th century and at the same time it reproduces typical events from the history of the entire country. In the centre of the story, there is the Dorin family. It is through the prism of the actions of the head of the family Ilash, his wife Ivona, and later their children that the main storylines of the tetralogy are built. It has been found that the character of epic thinking, the lyricism of the story and the depiction of human characters make K. Irod’s work similar to M. Stelmakh’s trilogy about the fate of the Ukrainian village in the complex vortex of events taking place in the first half of the 20th century (e.g. the novels «The Great Family», 1951; «Human Blood is Not Water», 1957; «Bread and Salt», 1958) and to B. Kharchuk’s tetralogy «Volyn» (1959 – 1965; second edition, 1988), which, depicting the story of the Hnatyuk family, reveals the most diverse aspects of the life of a western Ukrainian village. K. Irod depicted broad strata of the people’s lives in the pre-war and post-war times, their everyday problems and defining features of the national character. He summarized the flow of historical events connecting them with the present and future of the entire country. Moreover, he created the image of a strong-willed, deter","PeriodicalId":228347,"journal":{"name":"Vìsnik Marìupolʹsʹkogo deržavnogo unìversitetu Serìâ Fìlologìâ","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130816414","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
