There are many options to assess the outcome of treatment in distal radius fracture cases. One option that can be done is to measure the strength of the injured handgrip. Patient often complained about the decrease in ability to grasp and rotate and bear the burden after distal radius fracture. Objective-To find out the comparison of the hand grip strength in patients with distal radius fractures that are treated by closed reduction and casting to open reduction and internal fixation. Material and Methods-The study was conducted in a retrospective, observational analytic study with a cross sectional approach, which aimed to analyze the comparison of hand grip strength in patients with distal radius fractures that are treated by closed reduction and casting to open reduction and internal fixation12 months after treatment. Target population was all patients with distal radius fracture who underwent closed reduction and casting and open reduction and internal fixation in all inpatient at Adam Malik Hospital, Medan. ResultsIn this study the distribution of the number of samples was as many as 57 subjects with 17 are women (29.8%) and 40 are men (70.2%). 18 years old is the youngest age of the samples and the oldest is 76 years old with a mean of 32.77 ± 14.03 years. Based on the mechanism of injury : motor vehicle accidents is the most common mechanism of injury, it accounts 45 people (78.9%). According to time arrivals mostly patient came <24 hours. There are 11 extraarticular fractures ( 19.3%) and 46 intraarticular fractures (80.7%), there were 24 people (42.1%) fracture in the right hand and 33 people (57.9%) in the left hand. Statistical analysis shows that there is no difference in the ratio of hand grip strength with significance value of (p value) 0.881 (> 0.05). Optimum conditions of the as-grown crystals were established by varying different growth parameters. Energy-dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX) confirmed the presence of major elements such as Sr 2+ , Co 2+ , Cu 2+ , Cd 2+ ions in the lattice of the grown crystals. The percentage weight loss, molecular weight and thermal stability of the grown crystals were studied using Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The Energy gap, refractive index, reflectance and electrical polarizability of the crystals were calculated by using UVVisible spectroscopy. As majority of drugs marketed worldwide are administered by oral route and about 40% -50% of the new molecular entities were never invade into the market because of such biopharmaceutical issues.So issues related to poor physiochemical property of an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) can be resolved using co‐ crystallization approach.Crystallization emerge as potential technique for enhancement of solubility of poorly aqueous soluble drugs also helps to improve physicochemical with preserving the pharmacological properties of the API . Cocrystals are solids that are crystalline single-phase materials composed of two or more different molecular and/or ionic compounds generally in a stoichiometric ratio which are neither solvates/hydrates nor simple salts. It is multicomponent system in which one component is API and another is called coformer. Coformer selection is the main challenging step during cocrystal synthesis , so various screening methods for the selection of coformers was explained . This article also summarizes differences between cocrystals with salts, solvates and hydrates along with the implications and limitations of cocrystals .It also provides a brief review on different methods of cocrystal formation and characterization techniuqes of cocrystals. Two fuel samples such as neat diesel (D100) and diesel aloe vera emulsified fuel referred to as A10 (10% aloe vera, 89% diesel, 1% surfactant) was used to conduct the experiments and the obtained results were compared. The experiments were carried out on a single cylinder non-road Genset diesel engine at low load (BMEP 1.54 bar), mid load (BMEP 3.09 bar) and high load(BMEP 4.63 &6.18 bar) conditions.The experimental results show that the dieselaloe vera emulsified fuel resulted in reduced nitric oxide (NO) with increased brake thermal efficiency (BTE). overall, a 19.24% reduction in NO emission and a 9.82% increase in BTE was observed. Due to their highly adjustable nature and incomparable properties, ionic liquids have become key players in the areas of synthesis, catalysis, extraction, electrochemistry, analysis, biotechnology, etc. In addition to the physical and chemical properties of ionic liquids, their high biological activity has attracted considerable attention from biochemists, ecologists and medical professionals. Due to the properties mentioned above, an imidazolium ionic liquid solvent was used for the synthesis of nanostructure nanoparticles. In the present work, cubic form of pure Fe2O3, spherical nature of pure Ag (0) and hexagonal shaped hybrid AgFe2O3 were successfully synthesized by a simple co-precipitation, reduction and co-precipitation processes. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized in detail by spectral studies such as IR, XRD, SEM, EDX and TEM analysis. The size and shape of the particles were performed by X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) techniques and Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) techniques. Swelling properties of PVA gels is very important for its drug delivery applications. There are many ways to study the swelling behaviour. Here we are proposing a fluorescent study by using 8-anilino-1-naphthalenesulfonate (ANS) as an extrinsic fluorescent probe. When ANS incorporated PVA films are allowed to swell in water, there is a loss of fluorescence intensity at 453 nm and there is a new peak at 500 nm. Characterization is done by FT-IR, Mass, 1 H and 13 C NMR spectroscopic techniques. The newly synthesized compounds were screened for antioxidant and anti inflammatory activities. Experimental data hypothesized compound 7b as highly potent cytotoxicant with lengthened activity. Structure–activity relation interrelates the biological activity and chemical moiety of the molecule. The results reflected that the extract is a potential corrosion inhibitor. IR spectra and SEM photographs recorded for functional group and surface modification analysis of mild steel, were agreeing with other parameters. Entire study revealed that the inhibitor works through adsorption of its molecules over the mild steel.
