At present, hemodialysis is the preferred method for clinical management of uremic patients to avoid complications such as intestinal diseases caused by intestinal flora disturbances. Herein, we have attempted to clarify the clinical value of probiotics in progressive nutritional support nursing for uremic hemodialysis patients. One hundred and thirty-six uremic patients undergoing hemodialysis in our hospital between October 2021 and October 2022 were divided into experimental and control groups. The control group underwent conventional nursing care, whereas the experimental group underwent progressive nutritional support nursing (intervention group). After intervention, the visual analogue scale scores of the EuroQoL-5 Dimension Questionnaire in the experimental group were elevated relative to those in the controls (P < 0.05). The health-related quality of life questions that included creatinine clearance rate, urea nitrogen clearance rate, body mass index, and albumin were higher in the experimental group than controls, whereas the white blood cell count in the experimental group was lower than controls (P < 0.05). Furthermore, the total complication rate in the experimental group was lower than the control group (P < 0.05). In summary, applying progressive nutritional support nursing to uremic patients can improve clinical indicators and reduce the incidence of complications.","PeriodicalId":10976,"journal":{"name":"Current Topics in Nutraceutical Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135354366","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Patients with acute cerebral infarction were randomized into groups A and B. Group A received safflower yellow and atorvastatin, while Group B received safflower yellow and pitavastatin calcium for 15 days. Both groups were evaluated for the efficacy of treatment after 6 months. Compared to the group receiving pitavastatin calcium, the atorvastatin group had lower serum total cholesterol, triglycerides, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and inflammatory factors, and a higher high-density lipoprotein cholesterol level (P < 0.05). There was no difference in the effect of treatment on other markers such as whole blood viscosity, fibrinogen, and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale scores (P > 0.05). However, the incidence of adverse reactions was higher in group A than in group B (P < 0.05). To sum up, safflower yellow combined with pitavastatin calcium for cerebral infarction patients can effectively reduce carotid plaque area and improve lipid levels, inflammation, and hemorheology.","PeriodicalId":10976,"journal":{"name":"Current Topics in Nutraceutical Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136163483","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It could develop into a joint deformity as the disease progresses, resulting in the loss of normal joint function and seriously affecting the patient’s quality of life. Methotrexate is the “anchor drug” for rheumatoid arthritis treatment, which has an immunosuppressive effect and could effectively prevent the abnormal activation of B cells in vivo, inhibit the abnormal generation of cytokines, and relieve related symptoms. However, in some cases, methotrexate alone is not ideal and often needs to be combined with other drugs like xianlinggubao capsules. This study has provided an experimental basis for the combined efficacy of methotrexate and xianlinggubao capsules for female patients with moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis and their impact on ovarian function.","PeriodicalId":10976,"journal":{"name":"Current Topics in Nutraceutical Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135066123","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We have explored the ferroptosis related key genes and the underlying association with acute ischemic stroke. Differentially expressed mRNAs and miRNAs in ischemic stroke were screened based on the GSE16561 and GSE95204 datasets, respectively. Ferroptosis-related genes were downloaded from the FerrDb and GeneCards databases. Eleven ferroptosis-related differentially expressed genes were identified. Based on weighted gene co-expression network analysis, three key modules were identified as being closely associated with stroke. Furthermore, two hub genes, lysosomal associated membrane protein 2 and signal transducer and activator of transcription 3, were selected by a support vector machine-based recursive feature elimination algorithm based on machine learning and showed excellent diagnostic accuracy in stroke, with an area under the curve value of 0.939 and 0.875 in the GSE16561 cohort, respectively. Furthermore, the Comparative Toxicogenomic Database predicted 24 potential therapeutic drugs targeting the two hub genes. To sum up, the identification of hub genes associated with ferroptosis and acute ischemic stroke based on bioinformatics analysis may contribute to the exploration of promising diagnostic and therapeutic biomarkers and provide clues for the prediction of therapeutic candidates.","PeriodicalId":10976,"journal":{"name":"Current Topics in Nutraceutical Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2023-07-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48720443","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, we have explored its mechanism of action by combining pharmacology and gut microbiota analysis. To this end, female Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into 5 groups, including the control group, the acute blood stasis group, the Danshen tablet-treated group, the low-dose Danggui Sini decoction group, and the high-dose Danggui Sini decoction group. Danggui Sini decoction led to a significant reduction in the changes in the whole blood viscosity and plasma viscosity of rats with acute blood stasis syndrome, improved the coagulation function and cardiopulmonary pathological injury, upregulated the plasma 6-keto prostaglandin F1α and endothelial nitric oxide synthase, and downregulated thromboxane B2 and endothelin-1. The high throughput 16S rRNA gene sequencing results showed that Danggui Sini decoction reduced the number of pathogenic proteobacteria, significantly reduced erysipelas and suzericella, and increased the beneficial bacteria Roche, effectively improving the status of intestinal flora disorder in acute blood stasis rats. The Spearman correlation analyses showed that there was a close correlation between intestinal flora distribution and changes in blood stasis-related biochemical indices. In addition, network pharmacological analysis showed that the epidermal growth factor receptor, tumor protein p53, signal transducer and activator of transcription 3, vascular endothelial growth factor A, and hypoxia-inducible factor 1-alpha were the core targets of Danggui Sini decoction in alleviation of blood stasis. Further genetic ontological and pathway enrichment analyses suggested that the therapeutic effect of Danggui Sini decoction on blood stasis involved the lipid and atherosclerosis pathways, advanced glycation end-product-receptor for advanced glycation end-product signaling pathways in diabetic complications, fluid shear stress and atherosclerosis pathways, and hypoxia-inducible factors, 1-alpha signaling pathway, phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase- protein kinase B signaling, and other pathways. These results are helpful in understanding the mechanism by which Danggui Sini decoction improves blood stasis and provide a reference for further research.","PeriodicalId":10976,"journal":{"name":"Current Topics in Nutraceutical Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2023-07-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41654030","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
