This article explores how the new Family Education Promotion Law (FEPL) creates new requirements for parents to cultivate future citizens by employing family educational science. It draws upon text and discourse analysis of bills of FEPL regarding educative parent performance law. Interweaving qualitative data with post-structural groundings, this article questions that it neglects the discussion about distinctions of educational knowledge in various family education contexts. Despite stipulation of responsibilities of parents and other guardians that underscores legality and authority of laws and regulations in order to create a suitable family education environment for children, its unexpected outcome is to include the ‘ideal’ parents and exclude others, based more on family educational science of child-rearing by neglecting the peculiar part of the culture and the produced discrimination to parents at the bottom. Moreover, we found that it produces a new decentralization trend and shifts the power among members in the education village.","PeriodicalId":93451,"journal":{"name":"International journal of learning and teaching","volume":"25 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89192403","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, little is known about stakeholders’ attitudes towards translanguaging in China. By conducting interviews, questionnaires, and making classroom observations, this study investigates primary school teachers’ and students’ perceptions of translanguaging in China. The results revealed that although they do not recognize its legitimacy, they use it in classes due to limited English proficiency and improved classroom management, among other reasons.","PeriodicalId":93451,"journal":{"name":"International journal of learning and teaching","volume":"55 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77937097","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is because groupwork assessment is dealing with process and can be far trickier than assessing a team’s work dealing with product. This study aims to identify an assessment approach for effective inquiry-based learning in engineering education. For this purpose, four different perspectives were presented and discussed in combination with key constraints to implementing research-based learning. The perspectives include student reflection, collegial reflection, personal reflection, and literature. It was suggested that a combined method of continuous and qualitative assessment might be the most plausible.","PeriodicalId":93451,"journal":{"name":"International journal of learning and teaching","volume":"301 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135494736","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These goals not only aim to ameliorate students’ communication skills, but also to foster global human resources. Although considerable research has been conducted on students’ communication skills, few have explored the causes of speech anxiety among university students, especially in the context of English as a Foreign Language (EFL). Thus, this study aims to fill this gap by analyzing 43 university students in Tokyo, Japan. According to the results, a pivotal link between gender and speech anxiety was found. Specifically, the female students exhibited higher public speaking anxiety, compared to the male students. This study also investigated the sources of speech anxiety in four domains: communicative apprehension, fear of negative evaluation, test anxiety, and general anxiety of English. Among all four components, the EFL students recorded the highest anxiety in communication apprehension. It is also interesting to note that after completing the presentation skills course, the female students showed a significant reduction in the fear of negative evaluation domain. It is hoped that the findings of this study will be used by instructors to improve EFL students’ communication skills.","PeriodicalId":93451,"journal":{"name":"International journal of learning and teaching","volume":"8 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84427789","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Especially with universities’ physical closing, there is a demand especially for students to obtain information digitally. Therefore, the importance of adequate communication via digital channels arises. The pandemic serves as an amplifier towards informational channeling. However, universities vary greatly regarding their process of information sharing. To address these differences, this paper analyzes how European universities reacted to the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and how they dealt with communication towards students. The focus points towards the question on how universities strategies aim to supplement, substitute or reconfigure social interaction. Besides an overview of the general meaning of communication for universities, the paper presents general and country-specific results on the communication of universities during the pandemic and provides a comparative overview of alternative strategies.","PeriodicalId":93451,"journal":{"name":"International journal of learning and teaching","volume":"77 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80600226","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
