Teachers must adapt their teaching methods since students can no longer access school’s facilities. This became a concern, especially for subjects that require students to conduct experiments such as Physics. This paper is aimed to design and develop a computer simulation that can be used for simulation-based learning in high-school Physics, particularly on the topic of Newton’s law. The topics covered are constant acceleration linear motion, fraction, and force. Through literature studies, the features of the simulation were determined. The implemented features are interactivity through changeable parameters and immediate visual feedback, three graphics to show the acceleration, velocity, and position of an object, and a Comma-Separated Values (CSV) file that contains the detailed calculations of the simulation for debriefing. The simulation has been developed and evaluated through an online group discussion with two high school Physics teachers. Improvement has been made according to the discussion.","PeriodicalId":93451,"journal":{"name":"International journal of learning and teaching","volume":"93 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78366578","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research was conducted for one school year in two groups: experimental and control. It relates to the practical use of virtual instruments in timbre ear training, which was applied during additional keyboard classes. The time reserved for weekly tests and teaching several timbres of musical instruments recognizing was quite short, so that each attempt took around 7 minutes. The experiment time was strictly limited due to curriculum of Keyboard classes, which required to be fully realized. In that case, experiments had to be conducted in a way, which would not affect the classes. Purposeful use of virtual instruments in teachers’ work in the context of timbre recognition, increases the effectiveness of the educational process, so that children obtain very good results in recognizing different instruments’ timbres in contrast to the control group. It should be assumed, that the certain time spent on musical instruments timbre recognizing would cause way greater skill growth of research group. Data obtained clearly indicates the importance of education conducted in this way, due to its affection on timbre consciousness shaping.","PeriodicalId":93451,"journal":{"name":"International journal of learning and teaching","volume":"2013 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135494721","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The difficulty level of the texts is mostly measured separately from the aspects of Chinese characters, vocabulary, and grammar. There is no comprehensive quantitative evaluation standard. Readability formula is one of the methods to comprehensively measure the difficulty of text. The present study made use of Chinese heritage textbooks as the source of data and constructed readability formula by the method of multiple regression analysis. The formula includes four language features, i.e., proportion of difficult words, number of different characters, average sentence length, and proportion of function words, which could explain 72.9% of the variation of text difficulty level. Limitations and future works of the formula are discussed.","PeriodicalId":93451,"journal":{"name":"International journal of learning and teaching","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135494735","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to guide Chinese students’ TOEFL/IELTS speaking performances by investigating the relevant factors around in-class teaching and apps using that influence students’ learning efficacy. The findings of this research indicate that teachers’ digital literacy and native English-speaking abilities are highly needed to support the blending of online and offline teaching modes in the post-pandemic era. Apps are expected to maintain and improve basic functions like memorizing vocabulary and use short and simple forms to save users’ time. Apps can also offer strategies to instruct users’ schedules, so students would avoid their loss of self in face of various functions and have a better immersive experience of practicing speaking English on apps. These results can be considered to improve teaching methods and app functions and support further research on improving Chinese students’ language scores in the post-pandemic era.","PeriodicalId":93451,"journal":{"name":"International journal of learning and teaching","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135494739","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
