Fifteen Paulinian nurses from batches 2013 to 2017 were interviewed to surface their initial clinical\u0000experiences as they transitioned from nursing students to staff nurses. The themes were crossing\u0000the roughest road, acclimatizing in the midst of transition, echoing Paulinian Education in the workplace and finding one’s\u0000niche in the clinical nursing. Zambia has a total\u0000population of 15,066,266 people. About 1,150,400 people are living with HIV and 18,900 people were reported to have died of\u0000HIV in 2014 alone. The most recent palliative care situational analysis in Zambia highlighted that palliative care remained\u0000‘an essential absent factor’ and revealed that there were gaps in the type of care given in various home based care (HBC)\u0000programs. Therefore, this study aimed at exploring the experiences of trained palliative care specialists in implementing\u0000palliative care in Lusaka, Zambia.\u0000This study was an exploratory qualitative research. The population comprised of the trained palliative care specialists in either\u0000degree or diploma in palliative care, working in Lusaka. Purposive sampling was used and the sample totaled 6 (n-6). The\u0000data collection was done using a semi-structured interview guide, through face-to-face in-depth interviews. The interviews\u0000lasted for an average of 20 minutes. Prompts and probes were used to increase detailed analysis explorations\u0000Eleven themes broadly classified as facilitators or challenges emerged from the study. Among the facilitators: training\u0000influence; higher level support; effective team work and delivery models; and personal development and motivation to serve.\u0000challenges included: lack of PC knowledge; lack of essential medication for PC; work burden; lack of financial resources;\u0000lack of acceptance of PC; lack of PC guidelines; and legal restrictions on the use of opioids.\u0000The study provided evidence of the challenges and facilitators that influence palliative care specialists experience while\u0000implementing PC. It is therefore, recommended that more research, education, effective teamwork is promoted as the study\u0000revealed that participants needed support for effective implementation of palliative care.

The performance of an erring worker, might be detrimental in the private and organizational life. This situation is known as the “secondary victim”. Objectives: To examine the affect of medication errors on the mental state and function of the caregiver who erred: a comparison between findings in 2005 versus its findings in 2018. Design: The research was conducted in the qualitative method. A semi-structured interviews were held with the participants. The data were processed by means of content analysis. Participants: 40 nurses from a general hospital in central Israel who had made an error in the administration of medication. Ethical considerations: The research was approved by the institutional Helsinki committee. Findings: severe emotional consequences commenced immediately after the incident and continued for several days. They were expressed by fear, anxiety, self-blame, shame etc. The participants’ reactions were grouped as: “Taking responsibility”, “Immediate stress response”, “Why did this happen to me”, “Dilemma - whether to tell the patient and his family”, “The staff’s response to the mistake”, “Fear of punishment” versus “In the past there was fear to tell, today there isn’t, anymore”, “The culture of learning and not punishing” and “The emotional impact over time”. Discussion: The ongoing emotional distress that characterized some of the participants was similar to PTSD. The main differences between the findings after more than a decade were the perception of the organization as investigative rather than blameful, which enabled better functioning. Conclusions: workplaces should plan in advance for such events and offer support mechanisms for the “second victim” regardless of the inquiries and examinations held by the risk management unit.

The campaign activities, treatment &counseling, and\u0000public health network are required. Quit-Calendar was considered as a cessation aid for this project. It aimed to provide a\u0000useful reminder for smokers to specify their quit dates, learn some self-help guides, and receive pharmacological assistance.\u0000Methods: It is a cross-sectional descriptive study. One-hundred and thirty three Health promoting hospital (HPH) staff from SriSa-Ket province underwent ‘Quit-Calendar training programs included, knowledge and skills of counseling, pharmacotherapy,\u0000and steps of using Quit-Calendar. Information related to smoking cessation services at primary care units (HPH). Descriptivestatistical analysis was implemented.\u0000Results: Totally, there were 177 HPH participants enrolled to the training program. The majority was females (7.3%), have\u0000already opened smoking cessation services (93.4%) with mainly 1 to 3 year working experience (63.3%). Noticeably, smoking\u0000cessation services were mainly set up at outpatient clinics (89.8%). Most common smoking cessation services include lifestyle\u0000modification (98.4%). Regarding health policies in Sri-Sa-Ket province, only 5A counseling with ‘cold turkey’ technique,\u0000and herbal medicines were provided for the patients. Interestingly, the majority of quitters were monitored by public health\u0000volunteers who met them regularly (85.36%) not healthcare provider at the hospitals. The success keys included, the readiness\u0000of quitter, followed by clear and supportive policies and family members consecutively (38.64, 32.95, 21.59%).\u0000Conclusion: Quit-Calendar was successfully modified. Leadership is an effective role that nurses play in a professional\u0000and nonprofessional both capacities. To comply with quality protocols and best practices, the professional role of nurse is very\u0000evident. To examine and analyses this along with learning leadership role, the authors has identified area specific problems and\u0000brought interesting solutions of it. The designated leadership practice area was gastro-enterology and has variety of issues, from\u0000which one was prioritized for practice and improvement. Nursing diagnosis is very important part of nursing process which\u0000strengthens the process and helps to identify various care related issues of patients. This will also lead to better care plans\u0000and implementation of nursing process as guided by Florence nightingale. An effective identification and making of nursing\u0000diagnosis will support best practices of quality acre and will satisfy clients with holistic approach. The academic project was\u0000one of the best examples to implement this very interesting issues and also to learn the leadership roles and channelize nurses\u0000to work properly on nursing diagnosis and care plans as recommended. This also brought further opportunities of learning and\u0000research through various methods of assessing the nurses, evaluating their practices and educating them to improve further in\u0000their practice areas.
