Material y métodos. Estudio de cuatro fases con esco-lares, adolescentes y cuidadores: 1) investigación formativa (18 grupos focales, n= 179); 2) talleres de cocreación con NNA (n= 33); 3) diseño de la estrategia, con base en el modelo de comportamiento COM-B; y 4) prueba piloto (seis grupos focales, n= 52).</p><p><strong>Resultados: </strong>La estrategia de comunicación debería mejorar la comprensión del EFA y los conocimientos sobre la relación de los ingredientes críticos (calorías, grasas saturadas, grasas trans, sodio, edulcorantes y cafeína) y la enfermedad; asimismo, debería resaltar las consecuencias positivas de una alimentación saludable y las negativas del consumo excesivo de alimentos con sellos, así como destacar que los alimentos naturales tienen un menor costo y mejor calidad que los alimentos con sellos; se deben ofrecer sugerencias de preparaciones atractivas y saludables con alimentos naturales. Conclusión. La investigación formativa y la participación de NNA en la creación de la campaña fueron esenciales para diseñar una estrategia cultu-ralmente pertinente con potencial de impacto. {"title":"Barriers to achieving quality birth care under the Sentinel Care model in Mexico.","authors":"Irene Parada-Toro, Juan Maldonado-Hernández, Mario Sánchez-Domínguez, Sandra Treviño-Siller","doi":"10.21149/13750","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.21149/13750","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Objective: </strong>To explore the use of birth care in a Sentinel Unit.</p><p><strong>Materials and methods: </strong>We interviewed eight health providers and 12 female users of health services to explore the main reasons to use birth care in a Sentinel Unit.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Findings indicate that the reasons for which health providers do not attend births were fear of legal claims by users, lack of institutional support if complications arise, lack of training, not feeling confident in obstetric care, and the lack of necessary supplies. A convenience sample of 2 127 HCW was obtained from Chiapas and Jalisco between May 19th and July 24th 2020. Depression was assessed using the Patient Health Questionnaire, resilience with the Brief Resilience Scale and a Covid risk scale was developed. Model-adjusted prevalence ratios (PRs) and an additive interaction model were performed.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Moderate-severe depression was found in 16.6% of HCW. Those from Jalisco, physicians, in hospitals, with chronic illness and mental health history were more depressed. Material y métodos. Se utilizaron datos de la Encuesta Nacional de Salud y Nutrición 2021 sobre Covid-19.</p><p><strong>Resultados: </strong>Las necesidades agudas (infeccio-nes respiratorias, diarrea y Covid-19) representan 48% del total; 21% crónicas (control, seguimiento o diagnóstico de diabetes, hipertensión, gastritis, cáncer); 12% necesidades de prevención (vacunación, chequeo, control prenatal); 7% eventos agudos no infecciosos que incluyen lesión física, dolor de cabeza, fiebre, y 4% el resto. La población elige atención privada o pública de forma diferenciada dependiendo del tipo de necesidad de salud. Para necesidades agudas sólo 25% se atiende en el sector público. SARS-CoV-2 variants were identified on nasal swabs specimens and compared to publicly available genomes sampled in Mexico and California.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>All but 2 of the 10 lineages identified were predomi-nantly detected in North and Central America. Discrepan-cies between migrants and PWID can be explained by the temporal emergence and short time span of most of these lineages in the region.</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>The results illustrate the temporo-spatial structure for SARS-CoV-2 lineage dispersal and the potential co-circulation of multiple lineages in high-risk populations with close social contacts. Results of 2018 were correlated with the resistance to insecticides pub-lished.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Mosquitoes had higher levels than those of the susceptible strain in 2018 and 2020 respectively of α-esterases in 15 and 12 sites; β-esterases in 7 and 6 sites; glutathione-S-transferases in 11 and 19 sites; ρNPA-esterases in 21 and 17 sites; and cytochromes P450 in 20 and 22 sites. In mosquitoes of 2018, there was a moderate correlation between previously documented Malathion resistance ratios and the insensitive acetylcholinesterase (r=0.459, p= 0.03).</p><p><strong>Conclusions: </strong>The elevated enzyme levels found indicate its contribution to the resistance to pyrethroids and organo-phosphates already published in mosquitoes from Tapachula.
