The purpose of this study is to investigate R&D competition between commercial open source and proprietary software firms. This study constructs a mathematical model, and assumes that commercial open source software is inferior to its proprietary substitute in the usability and their functional qualities are the same before R&D. It finds that: (i) proprietary software firm has higher incentive to improve the functional quality than commercial open source firm; (ii) when the R&D efficiency is low enough, the appearance of commercial open source software leads to the investment reduction of proprietary software firm. While when the R&D efficiency is high enough, the opposite may occur; (iii) from the viewpoint of social welfare, commercial open source firm invests too little, while proprietary software firm may invest too much.","PeriodicalId":447068,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of u- and e- Service, Science and Technology","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126742718","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Design thinking is a human-oriented method of finding and searching for solutions in which the many interested parties related to the problem participate. This method is being broadly used in diverse corporate and social areas. This study investigated problems that residents in urban regeneration regions are facing and tried to solve these problems through the application of design thinking. This study specifically targeted Gamcheon Culture Village, which is known as a successful case of urban regeneration. The study participants identified the fundamental problems behind the inconveniences that the residents in urban regeneration regions were experiencing. Differing from existing problem-solving processes, design thinking could provide an opportunity for mutual understanding through the gathering of many interested parties to empathize with the residents’ troubles, define problems, and search for solutions. This study proved that the most important success factor for urban regeneration projects was a common goal for the related interested parties, including residents, and the sharing of created values. This study’s academic contributions were its application of design thinking for the first time to a case that involved multiple interested parties that were related to urban regeneration project, consequently inducing future studies. Practically, the study provided a problem-solving methodology that relevant institutions can apply when developing policies regarding urban regeneration projects.","PeriodicalId":447068,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of u- and e- Service, Science and Technology","volume":"114 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114232551","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to ensure the rapid delivery of emergency supplies to the affected area, it is necessary to take appropriate control measures on roads. However, the implementation of traffic control will certainly bring interference for social vehicles. So there is need to optimize the traffic control scheme. In this paper, traffic control for different time intervals is implemented on the road section, and the optimization of traffic control scheme is undertaken. This study includes three parts as following: Firstly, the traffic control model is built to minimize disturbance caused by traffic control under the premise that the time requirement of emergency supplies transportation is met. Secondly, optimization algorithm based on greed is designed to solve the model. Then the concrete traffic control scheme is obtained at last. In practice, the optimization algorithm is proved to be convergent. Finally, the model and algorithm are analyzed and validated by Sioux-Fall road network. In conclusion, the optimization of traffic control scheme could guarantee the delivery of emergency supplies to the affected area within time limit as well as minimize disturbance caused by traffic","PeriodicalId":447068,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of u- and e- Service, Science and Technology","volume":"108 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128161804","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Physical activities in this context include all developmental aspects including psycho-motor, cognitive, and affective aspects. Through these interactions, physical development can be promoted. This paper aims to develop the selection module Q-sorting system of physical activities, which triggers developmentally disabled children’s activity choice. This is reflected in their self-determination by standing on the basis of augmented reality beyond limited physical activity pictures or card representation. The research will contribute to recognizing a theoretical framework and academic implications for the following study regarding self-determination of developmental challenged children.","PeriodicalId":447068,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of u- and e- Service, Science and Technology","volume":"103 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127613053","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In 2014, a strategic implementation plan to realize e-navigation was released and it is expected to be implemented at some point after 2018. Software quality assurances and human-centred design guidelines are one of the key outcomes of the e-navigation SIP. To apply the goal-oriented guidelines, this paper compared the methods on how to measure usability in the standards related to each concept as a way of linkage between the SQA and HCD concepts with a specific focus on the usability. The comparison results showed that HCD-related standards provide measurement methods for particular criteria that are not provided in detail, and the usability of SQA and Quality in use-related standards provides appropriate methods. It was also found that it makes no difference whether the measurement methods of SQA standards for usability evaluation on the software of the equipment developed by applying HCD are used.","PeriodicalId":447068,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of u- and e- Service, Science and Technology","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125937908","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is aimed to determine the background of its production and capitalism that turn the use value into exchange value on RCTI’s “Idola Cilik” program through social cognition analysis, and to find out the interpretation of the Chairman of National Commission for Child Protection on “Idola Cilik” singing contest through social context. This study applies qualitative research method of Van Dijk’s critical discourse analysis, including textual, social cognition and social context analysis. The results showed that: (1) From analysis of the text, the performance and the commodification of children in the “Idola Cilik” program are actually the result of television media industry; (2) From analysis of social cognition, RCTI’s “Idola Cilik” program is created due to the lack of special programs for children; (3) Based on the analysis of social context, “Idola Cilik” has generated positive interpretations. Therefore, through this study, the producers of children programs are expected to be more concerned about the compatibility of program contents, and to pay much attention to the psychology of children, by putting the children not merely as some commodity to gain huge profit. As for the parents, they should be more selective on choosing TV programs for their children. Moreover, parents are also advised not to exploit their children by forcing them to be TV stars.","PeriodicalId":447068,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of u- and e- Service, Science and Technology","volume":"121 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114663071","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In China, the operating model for ACC falls into three categories, namely, SWR model (wholesaler dominant), SS (supermarket dominant) and SDC (supplier dominant).We analyze the three models’ framework and relevant practices in China, particularly describe detailed flowcharts of SWR model and SS model because SDC model is not yet mature in China. Based on the two models, we apply system dynamics theory to compare the bullwhip effects and relevant inventory level of them under stochastic demand information. Simulation results show that comparing with SWR model, SS model has competitive advantages in lower inventory, less fluctuation and bullwhip effect. Thus agricultural product cold chain driven by retailers (supermarkets) proves to be more efficient and cost-effective.","PeriodicalId":447068,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of u- and e- Service, Science and Technology","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128232392","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
