A three-dimensional phase noise analysis diagram and graphical optimization approach is presented, to optimize QVCO phase noise while satisfying design constraints such as power dissipation, tank amplitude, tuning range and start up condition. The obtained QVCO can be tuned between 2.2GHz and 2.58GHz, and shows a phase noise of −129 dBc/Hz at 1MHz offset from a 2.4 GHz carrier, for a current consumption of 9.25mW. The equivalent phase error and amplitude error between I and Q signals are respectively 0.65° and 1.87%.","PeriodicalId":442381,"journal":{"name":"2010 XIth International Workshop on Symbolic and Numerical Methods, Modeling and Applications to Circuit Design (SM2ACD)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124023932","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A power allocation quasi-optimal solution with a low complexity has been proposed for the two forwarding techniques. To illustrate theirs performances, a selection of numerical results has been used. It has been shown from these results that DF outperforms AF if the relay is in the central region between source and destination, and the two techniques provides similar performances in the edge regions.","PeriodicalId":442381,"journal":{"name":"2010 XIth International Workshop on Symbolic and Numerical Methods, Modeling and Applications to Circuit Design (SM2ACD)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127562087","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Pulse and step responses can be computed by means of the partial fraction decomposition. The procedure relies on an accurate computation of poles of the transfer function. The well known problem of the QR and QZ algorithms is their poor accuracy in the case of multiple roots. Moreover, the partial fraction decomposition itself is an ill-posed problem for closely-spaced clusters of roots. The method presented in this paper is based on an improved reduction procedure for transforming the generalized eigenproblem into a standard one in combination with an algorithm for computing the Jordan canonical form of inexact matrices [1].","PeriodicalId":442381,"journal":{"name":"2010 XIth International Workshop on Symbolic and Numerical Methods, Modeling and Applications to Circuit Design (SM2ACD)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133578125","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The new method is based on the spectral stochastic method where orthogonal polynomials are used to represent the statistical processes in a deterministic way. Coefficients of the orthogonal polynomials are computed for the inductances. Statistical inductance values are then found using a fast multi-dimensional Gaussian quadrature method with sparse grid. To further improve the efficiency of the proposed method, a random variable reduction scheme is used. Given the interconnect wire variation parameters, the resulting method can derive the parameterized closed form of the inductance and its variation. We show that both partial and loop inductance variations can be significant given the width and height variations. This new approach can work with any existing inductance extraction tools to produce the variational inductance or impedance models. Experimental results show that our method is orders of magnitude faster than than the Monte Carlo method for several practical interconnect structures.","PeriodicalId":442381,"journal":{"name":"2010 XIth International Workshop on Symbolic and Numerical Methods, Modeling and Applications to Circuit Design (SM2ACD)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131523643","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These synthetic inductors are designed using current controlled voltage sources. The signal flow graph method is used for this purpose. For the practical realization, operational transresistance amplifiers (OTRAs) are replicated using current conveyors. The proposed inductors have very interesting properties because the value of its inductance is proportional to the product of the parameter of the OTRAs (rm1rm2) and thus, small capacitor values can be used. Current conveyor based simulated inductors are presented and SPICE simulations are given to show the viability of the proposed synthesis technique.","PeriodicalId":442381,"journal":{"name":"2010 XIth International Workshop on Symbolic and Numerical Methods, Modeling and Applications to Circuit Design (SM2ACD)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131562085","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Inductors and capacitors intrinsically are capable of integrating and differentiating, and active components alone can realize such algebraic operations as addition and multiplication. In this work, linear differential equations are shown to be implemented with three active components, namely operational amplifiers(Opamp), operational transconductance amplifiers (OTA), and current conveyors (CC). An examplary circuit is simulated in SPICE medium and results are observed to be in good agreement with theory.","PeriodicalId":442381,"journal":{"name":"2010 XIth International Workshop on Symbolic and Numerical Methods, Modeling and Applications to Circuit Design (SM2ACD)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122365963","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A classical fourth-order filter or quadruplet, for example, has two transmission zeros located symmetrically, one on each side of the passband. A filter of the same order and, consequently, with a similar insertion loss, can offer a higher attenuation of one of the two adjacent channels when the filter has both transmission zeros in the same (upper or lower) stopband. Such strongly asymmetric characteristics require however an extra coupling between resonators, consequently require a different topology of the microwave filter. In this paper novel filter structures are proposed for quadruplets with strongly asymmetric characteristics with two transmission zeros located both on the same side of the passband, in prescribed positions. These filters can provide a very high attenuation not only at a single frequency, but in a large adjacent frequency band.","PeriodicalId":442381,"journal":{"name":"2010 XIth International Workshop on Symbolic and Numerical Methods, Modeling and Applications to Circuit Design (SM2ACD)","volume":"227 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115192755","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recently, the mono-objective version of the PSO algorithm was adapted and used to optimize only one performance of RF circuits, mainly the voltage gain of low noise amplifiers. In this work, we propose to optimize more than one performance function of LNAs while satisfying imposed and inherent constraints. We deal with generating the Pareto front linking two conflicting performances of a LNA, namely the voltage gain and the noise figure. The adopted idea consists of using the symbolic expressions of the scattering parameters ((S21) for the voltage gain, and (S11, S22) for input and output matching). For this purpose we use a Multi-Objective Optimization algorithm PSO incorporating the mechanism of the crowding distance technique (MOPSO-CD). Comparisons with results obtained using NSGA II are presented and ADS simulations, using 0.35µm CMOS technology, are given to show good reached results.","PeriodicalId":442381,"journal":{"name":"2010 XIth International Workshop on Symbolic and Numerical Methods, Modeling and Applications to Circuit Design (SM2ACD)","volume":"221 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131851370","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
