In the context of Timor Island, slaves played an pivotal role in the expansion of Christianity (Protestantism). Based on research result, I noted at least six slaves – and former slaves – who were actively involved in evangelizing. There are three roles of the slaves, namely slaves as a techer, missionary, and influencer. As for the slaves – because they came from the lowest strata of society – they often faced opposition when preaching the gospel. However, these challenges do not stop them from carrying out their duties and vocations.AbstrakArtikel ini bertujuan memperlihatkan peran para budak dalam sejarah pekabaran Injil di pulau Timor pada tahun 1820-an hingga 1840-an. Dalam konteks Pulau Timor, para budak berperan penting dalam perluasan kekristenan (protestan). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, saya mencatat setidaknya terdapat enam orang budak – dan mantan budak – yang terlibat aktif dalam pekabaran Injil. Adapun terdapat tiga peran budak dalam pekerjaan pekabaran Injil, yakni sebagai guru, misionaris dan pemberi pengaruh (influencer). Para budak – karena datang dari lapisan masyarakat bawah – sering kali menghadapi pertentangan ketika memberitakan Injil. Kendati demikian, tantangan-tantangan tersebut tidak membuat mereka berhenti memberitakan Injil. The image of Manado cannot be separated from the harmony and peace that is maintained continuously. The reality of peace in this city cannot be separated from the motto of torang samua basudara. This motto continues to be lived in the midst of society and becomes a social reality that shows all forms of primordial differences are not obstacles to living together as brothers. This paper specifically wants to describe how the social construction of the motto of torang samua basudara, seen affects the interaction of Christians in Manado with followers of other religions, seen from the Theology of Religions by Paul F. Knitter. This research collects the data by using qualitative research methods with in-depth interviews and literature study. The results showed this harmony cannot be separated from how the society perceive the motto of torang samua basudara and are united in keeping and maintaining harmony and openness in the midst of diversity. The meaning of the motto of torang samua basudara gives a big influence in the interaction of religions. Christians interact with followers of other religions without any discrimination based on religious, ethnic and cultural backgrounds, but all people are considered brothers who love, accept, and help each other. Thus, the interaction of Christians with followers of other religions reflects a model of acceptance. However, the Christian view of salvation reflects a fulfillment model, implying that salvation also exists in other religions but only when it follows the way of Christ. Thus, Christ becomes the fulfillment of religions.AbstractSemboyan torang samua basudara merupakan spirit pemersatu agama-agama di Manado. Citra Manado tidak lepas dari kerukunan dan kedamaian yang terpelihara secara terus-menerus. Adapun realitas kedamaian yang ada di kota ini tidak lepas dari peran semboyan torang samua basudara. Semboyan ini terus dihidupi di tengah-tengah masyarakat dan menjadi realitas sosial yang menunjukkan bahwa segala bentuk perbedaan primordial bukan hambatan untuk hidup bersama sebagai saudara. Tulisan ini secara spesifik ingin mendeskripsikan bagaimana pengaruh penghayatan semboyan tersebut memengaruhi interaksi penganut Kristen di Manado dengan penganut agama lain, ditinjau dari teori Teologi Agama-Agama Paul F. Knitter. Pengambilan data menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan teknik wawancara mendalam dan studi pustaka. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemaknaan terhadap semboyan torang samua basudara memberikan pengaruh yang besar dalam interaksi agama-agama. The social meaning is drawn from the interactions between them and has not included the associative rules with the ecosphere (biotic and abiotic) as forming the social meaning. And conversely, certain parties, from among scientists, even environmental activists, do not include the definition of the environment as having a \"personality\". In the midst of the ecological crisis context, this paper tries to re-interpret this meaning socio-ecologically. The goal is to obtain alternatives to respond to the environmental crisis in Indonesia. We conceptualize the perspective of Actor Network Theory, or what is also called Actant Rhizome, by Bruno Latour. He discusses that social meaning is no longer centered on humans and society is no longer human society. Rather, society is any non-human entity in the ecosphere, technosphere and sociophere (human environment) which satisfies the presupposition of interaction, which he calls “active”. For Latour, in an era of ecological crisis, many people will mutate themselves according to that crisis. Theologically, it can then be further reflected in the socio-ecological meaning of society, including the mutated whole.AbstrakKecenderungan rumpun sosiologi pascapositivisme mendefinisikan makna sosial manusia sebagai cara hidup bersama antarmanusia. Makna sosialnya ditarik dari interaksi antara manusia dan belum memasukkan kaidah asosiatif ke dalam ekosfer sebagai pembentuk makna sosial tersebut. Sebaliknya, pihak tertentu, dari kalangan saintis, bahkan pegiat lingkungan kurang memasukan definisi lingkungan hidup sebagai yang memiliki ‘kepribadian’. Di tengah konteks krisis ekologi di Indonesia, tulisan ini mencoba memaknai ulang makna tersebut secara sosio-ekologis. Tujuannya supaya memperoleh alternatif menanggapi krisis lingkungan. Studi ini mempertimbangkan perspektif Teori Jaringan-Aktor (actor-network theory), atau yang juga disebut Actant Rhizome, oleh Bruno Latour. The event of the incarnation became a very real sign of God's love in all human life that was in line with Him \"Imago Dei\". However, in the development of science and technology, the love of God manifested in the image of man who is similar to God is disrupted into a tool used for personal satisfaction that results in violence both physically and mentally. The purpose of the study, describes the meaning of the incarnation in relation to the praxis of the formation of social behavior of society. The method used is descriptive qualitative with a contextual approach. Results of the study; first, the theology of the incarnation is the definitive embodiment of God's love for man so that man as a social being is called to love others as the embodiment of His love. Second, in love, God forgives sinful people. The experience of God's infinite forgiveness, as a foundation for forgiving others including enemies. Third, love requires self-sacrifice to serve others who suffer because of life's problems. Followers of Christ are called out of themselves, bearing witness by serving in love. In conclusion, the Incarnation is the embodiment of God's love for the salvation of man. Love is the foundation of praxis for the formation of human behavior in people's lives. In that love, too, man is called to love, forgive and sacrifice himself for others in the image of God.AbstrakTeologi inkarnasi merupakan perwujudan kasih Allah yang tertinggi kepada manusia sebagai penebusan dosa manusia. Peristiwa inkarnasi menjadi tanda kasih Allah yang sangat nyata di dalam seluruh kehidupan manusia yang secitra dengan-Nya “Imago Dei”. Namun, dalam perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi, kasih Allah yang terwujud dalam gambaran manusia yang serupa dengan Allah mengalami disrupsi menjadi alat yang digunakan untuk kepuasan pribadi sehingga mengakibatkan kekerasan baik fisik maupun mental. Tujuan kajian, mendeskripsikan makna inkarnasi dalam hubungan dengan praksis pembentukan perilaku sosial masyarakat. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan kontekstual. Hasil kajian; pertama, teologi inkarnasi merupakan perwujudan kasih Allah yang definitif kepada manusia sehingga manusia sebagai makhluk sosial dipanggil untuk mengasihi sesama sebagai perwujudan kasih-Nya. Kedua, dalam kasih, Allah mengampuni manusia yang berdosa. Pengalaman akan pengampunan Allah yang tak terbatas, sebagai landasan untuk mengampuni sesama termasuk musuh. This paper aims to reveal interfaith dialogue facts from the mixed-grave phenomenon that academics rarely see. This paper uses a qualitative study with the mechanism of observation, interviews, and literature analysis. There are several results. 1) Interfaith dialogue media can be distinguished into three forms of mixed grave phenomena, namely mixed ethnic graves, mixed religions, and mixed ethnicities and religions. 2)These three types of mixed graves conduct dialog antar agama to maintain tolerance through activities carried out by several community groups, both from families and the Indonesian Graveyard community, that hunting activities. 3)Kinship and friendship are important reasons for preserving the values of tolerance in a multicultural and multi-religious society through this phenomenon. Thus, dialog antar agama can be carried out in various public spaces, not just academic areas which are boring and difficult to reach by grassroots communities. Several regions that do not experience religious segregation have practiced these methods for a long time.AbstrakTanpa disadari, beberapa ruang perjumpaan dalam masyarakat menjadi tempat perkawinan perbedaan atau media dialog antar-agama di Indonesia salah satu contohnya adalah kuburan yang dilihat sebagai tempat menakutkan dapat dijadikan sebagai ruang terciptanya dialog antar-agama. Tujuan tulisan ini adalah menganalisis dialog antar agama dari fenomena kuburan campur (mix-grave) yang jarang dilihat para akademisi. Tulisan ini menggunakan studi kualitatif dengan mekanisme observasi, wawancara, dan analisis literatur. Hasilnya, 1) Media dialog antar agama dapat dibedakan dalam 3 bentuk fenomena kuburan campur yakni kuburan campur etnik, campur agama, dan campur etnik dan agama. 2) Ketiga macam kuburan campur ini dapat disadari sebagai ruang baru bagi masyarakat melakukan dialog antar-agama agar tetap memelihara toleransi melalui aktivitas-aktivitas yang dilakukan oleh beberapa kelompok masyarakat baik dari keluarga dan juga aktivitas berburu (hunting) kuburan yang dilakukan oleh komunitas Graveyard Indonesia. 3) Hubungan kekerabatan (kinship) dan persahabatan (friendship) menjadi alasan penting pelestarian nilai-nilai toleransi dalam masyarakat yang multikultural dan multiagama melalui fenomena ini. Rebecca Chopp in several of her writings which are also quoted by several theologians, tries to porpose a theopoetic theory as a trauma recovery room. Theopoetic theory of trauma healing emphasizes on testimony or narratives and reinterpretation towards traumatic narratives. This paper tries to perceive the theory of theopoetic from Kitorang Basudara and Freedom Writers films. Both those films show that racial differences in society can be main source of trauma as well as a space for trauma recovery, if society gives and meaning of trauma narratives.AbstrakPengalaman traumatik pasca diskriminasi dan kekerasan berbasis rasial cenderung diabaikan dan dibungkam oleh masyarakat. Pengalaman traumatik tersebut tidak tersuarakan dan berpotensi menciptakan pelegalan diskriminasi dan kekerasan berbasis rasial. Rebecca Chopp dalam beberapa tulisannya yang juga dikutip oleh beberapa teolog, mencoba menawarkan teori teopoetika sebagai ruang pemulihan trauma. Teori teopoetika pemulihan trauma ini menitikberatkan pada kesaksian atau narasi dan pemaknaan ulang terhadap narasi traumatik. Tulisan ini mencoba melihat teopoetik pemulihan trauma dari film Kitorang Basudara dan Freedom Writers. Postmodernism's critique and attack on the absolute truth claims of modernism also have an impact on the concept of Christian theology. These impacts result in the dismantling of the authority of God's word, confusion, lack of purpose and meaning in contemporary human life. This research uses a literature study with a descriptive qualitative method. Data analysis uses philosophical hermeneutics which includes interpretation, descriptive and comparative studies. The results of this study indicate that the idea of postmodernism has resulted in: The rejection of the monopoly of truth claims that have an impact on cultural superiority, the emergence of pluralism and relativism, the absence of absolute meaning in the biblical text, and the free play of interpretation of biblical texts. A number of these consequences are challenges that need to be addressed immediately.AbstrakArtkel ini menganalisis gagasan-gagasan filsafat postmodern dari tiga pemikir utamanya yaitu Friederich Nietzsche, Jacques Derrida dan Michel Foucault yang melaluinya sejumlah konsekuensi serius diperhadapkan bagi kajian teologi Kristen masa kini. Kritik dan serangan postmodernisme terhadap klaim kebenaran absolut dari modernisme juga berdampak pada konsep teologi Kristen. Dampak tersebut mengakibatkan terjadinya pembongkaran terhadap otoritas firman Allah, kebingungan, ketiadaan tujuan serta makna hidup manusia kontemporer. Penelitian ini menggunakan studi kepustakaan dengan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Analisis data menggunakan hermeneutika filosofis yang mencakup kajian interpretasi, deskriptif dan komparasi. Adapun hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa gagasan postmodernisme telah menghasilkan: Penolakan terhadap monopoli klaim kebenaran yang berdampak pada superioritas kultural, munculnya pluralisme dan relativisme, ketiadaan makna absolut pada teks Alkitab, dan permainan bebas interpretasi teks-teks Alkitab. One of the controversies is about what or who possesses a possessed person. In the context of Sumba, there is a difference of views between the church and the Marapu religion. The church sees the possessed as evil spirits or satans, while the Marapu religion views it as the spirit of the ancestors. This paper raises that issue from the results of a field study. The research was conducted at the Sumba Christian Church (GKS) of the Wee Rame Congregation which is in the midst of the Wewewa tribe. The method used was a qualitative method with a questionnaire distribution technique to 45 respondents. Dealing with these differences of views, this paper will trace how the Bible describes demons and ancestors. The purpose of the search was to open the door to dialogue between the church and indigenous religions. The dialogue itself is expected to improve the handling of spirit possession cases in the future.AbstrakKasus-kasus kesurupan cukup sering menimbulkan kontroversi. Salah satu kontroversinya adalah tentang apa atau siapa yang merasuki orang yang kesurupan. Dalam konteks Sumba, terjadi perbedaan pandangan antara gereja dan agama Marapu. Gereja memandang yang merasuki adalah roh jahat atau setan, sedangkan agama Marapu memandang hal tersebut adalah roh nenek moyang. Tulisan ini mengangkat masalah itu dari hasil sebuah penelitian lapangan. Penelitian tersebut dilakukan di Gereja Kristen Sumba (GKS) Jemaat Wee Rame yang berada di tengah-tengah suku Wewewa. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan teknik penyebaran angket kepada 45 responden. Berhadapan dengan perbedaan pandangan tersebut, tulisan ini akan menelusuri bagaimana Alkitab menggambarkan setan dan nenek moyang. Tujuan penelusuran tersebut adalah untuk membuka pintu dialog antara gereja dengan agama pribumi. Dialog itu sendiri diharapkan akan memperbaiki penanganan kasus-kasus kesurupan di kemudian hari. People see that sickness is a gift from God while sickness is a curse given to humans for not doing what is His will and causing sin. This view is actually an understanding that has existed for a long time but sometimes becomes the basis of one's desire to make an assessment of one's religious life to God. With this problem, theology and public health will be carried out looking at the problems that occur starting with interpreting religion and public health, then theological relations in the Old Testament and New Testament using this approach in the relationship of blessings and curses on healthy or sick.AbstrackKonsep sehat dan sakit sendiri sering kali dikaitkan dengan hubungan antara berkat dan kutuk. Orang-orang melihat bahwa sakit merupakan anugerah Tuhan sedangkan sakit merupakan kutuk yang diberikan Tuhan kepada manusia karena tidak melakukan apa yang menjadi kehendak-Nya dan menimbulkan dosa. Pandangan ini sebenarnya merupakan pemahaman yang telah ada sejak lama namun terkadang masih saja menjadi dasar acuan seseorang dalam melakukan penilaian atas kehidupan yang religius kepada Tuhan. His idea of Trinitarian communion is contained in the concept of perichoresis. In this article, the author analyzes Boff's thoughts which can be an inspiration, model and at the same time a critique for the development of community life for Religious. The method used is literature study by prioritizing content analysis. The findings obtained are an idea of living in communion in the community of Religious in the light of the communion of the Triune God.AbstrakLeonardo Boff adalah salah satu teolog Teologi Pembebasan yang menegaskan bahwa Allah Tritunggal dalam persekutuan-Nya bukan hanya merupakan kebenaran iman yang harus diterima tetapi memiliki nilai praktikalnya. Gagasannya tentang persekutuan Trinitaris ini terdapat dalam konsep perikhoresis. Dalam artikel ini, penulis menganalisis pemikiran Boff yang bisa menjadi inspirasi, model dan sekaligus kritik bagi pengembangan hidup berkomunitas bagi Kaum Religius. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi pustaka dengan mengutamakan analisis isi.
