Podstawą analizy są balety kompozytora w oparciu o zachowane partytury, recenzje i wypowiedzi realizatorów towarzyszące premierom oraz zapisy wideo spektakli. W pierwszej części artykułu zostały omówione prapremiery. Z analizy wynika, że nie wszystkie dzieła odniosły sukces za życia kompozytora, ponieważ on traktował tę twórczość w dużej mierze jako użytkową albo nie spotkała się ona z zainteresowaniem wybitnych choreografów jemu współczesnych. W drugiej części artykułu została przeprowadzona analiza scenicznych realizacji muzyki baletowej Moniuszki w drugiej połowie XX wieku i pierwszych dwóch dekadach XXI wieku, z której wynika, że jego balety, zachowane głównie we fragmentach, nadają się do nowych technik teatralnych, takich jak adaptacja, przepisanie i remiks.","PeriodicalId":41095,"journal":{"name":"Roczniki Humanistyczne","volume":"57 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139146565","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Case of Polish Older Adults","authors":"Sylwia Niewczas","doi":"10.18290/rh237110.10","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.18290/rh237110.10","url":null,"abstract":"This article joins the discussion about the role of positive psychology in foreign language learning. The aim of this paper is to present the results of a quantitative study conducted among a group of Polish older adults (aged 55+). The research goal of the present study was to investigate older people’s subjective feeling of well-being connected to foreign language learning as one of the ways of improving their quality of life. The research used a questionnaire as the research tool, which consisted of a modified version of a questionnaire widely used for testing satisfaction with language courses. The findings of the research clearly show that foreign language learning has an irreplaceable role as one of several non-pharmacological strategies utilised to improve the aging process and promoting positive aging. The results also indicate that seniors’ overall satisfaction and subjective feelings of well-being can be greater when attending foreign language classes at an older age. Foreign language learning, therefore, creates an environment that can enhance the quality of life of older adults.","PeriodicalId":41095,"journal":{"name":"Roczniki Humanistyczne","volume":"9 31","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139147492","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Timescape receives its further conceptualization at the intersections between critical posthumanism, narrative theory, and Anthropocene discourse. In application to Ishiguro’s novel, it opens up the protagonist narrator’s multifaceted relationship to time. Klara is a solar-powered android who at once embodies and attempts to rectify the human impacts on the planet. Timescape allows me to explore Klara’s nonhuman temporalities in three analytical moves. First, through timescape, I contextualize Klara alongside the geological registers of the Anthropocene and theorize her ontological and chronological position as regards the human and the posthuman. Second, timescape brings out Klara’s self-aware preoccupations with the linear order of her narrative, on the one hand, and the temporal disjunctures of that narrative, on the other. And third, Klara’s timescape supplies insight into both her examined prosthetic life and an afterlife of unexamined possibilities. I argue that Klara envisages her algorithmically inflected posthumous life in stark separation from her human forebears.","PeriodicalId":41095,"journal":{"name":"Roczniki Humanistyczne","volume":"107 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139146432","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In her art and scholarly works, primarily in her book Beasts of Burden (2017), Taylor examines the porousness of human/nonhuman categories in the context of disability studies. Although Taylor is aware of how various discourses animalized certain populations in the past (the colonized, ethnic minorities, or people with disabilities), she insists on showing resemblance and kinship between disabled people and animals. Taylor’s ideas seem to be reflected in Indra Sinha’s Animal’s People (2007), which deals with the problem of environmental catastrophe, consequent health issues of the local population, and animalization of people with disabilities. The paper investigates Sinha’s portrayal of entanglements of the human with the nonhuman in the material sphere, and the emergence of a new type of consciousness, based on a redefinition of one’s connection to the world, which involves reclaiming one’s animality.","PeriodicalId":41095,"journal":{"name":"Roczniki Humanistyczne","volume":"30 31","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139147604","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The materials on this site are meant as extracurricular activities for learners of Italian LS/L2. Parafię erygowano na przełomie XIII/XIV wieku. Informacje źródłowe o wyposażeniu świątyni sięgają 1604 r., natomiast dopiero w 1650 r. mamy pierwszą wzmiankę o instrumencie muzycznym. W XVIII wieku wymieniane są organy 13-głosowe, które użytkowano do 1914 r. Po pożarze kościoła w czasie I wojny światowej korzystano z fisharmonii dwugłosowej, którą w 1955 r. zastąpiono organami 12-głosowymi. Podjęte przez ówczesnego proboszcza próby budowy nowych organów zakończyły się ostatecznie rozbudową dotychczasowego instrumentu. W 1975 r. zostały oddane do użytku organy 25-głosowe, które w 1998 r. przeniesiono do nowego kościoła. Informacje o organistach racławickich źródła podają od 1694 r. Z XIX wieku pochodzą szczegółowe wiadomości o warunkach mieszkaniowych i wynagrodzeniu organistów, a z XX wieku – o ich wykształceniu i zaangażowaniu w kulturę muzyczną parafii.","PeriodicalId":41095,"journal":{"name":"Roczniki Humanistyczne","volume":"42 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139146581","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
