We seek, above all, to examine the effects of intermingled meanings in the process of reformulating headlines. To support our analysis, throughout the text, we mobilized other notions of theory such as ideological formations, interdiscourse and memory, in order to better observe the functioning of ideology, its regulation in language and the effects of meaning sustained by discursive formations. Our analysis allowed us to understand that the effects of meaning in the headlines are determined by the evidence effect of the discursive formations and the contradictions they set in motion.","PeriodicalId":40929,"journal":{"name":"Matraga-Estudos Linguisticos e Literario","volume":"27 1","pages":"374-392"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44268810","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The corpus was composed of ten discursive sequences collected from two sites, UOL and G1. In this analysis, we discussed the concepts of speech, subject, discursive memory, imagination and silencing. Furthermore, we discussed some theoretical contributions from the field of social sciences. The results point out that the NTDs are both symptoms and effects of the social disparity existing in the country; the effects of disregard and silencing towards the NTDs are inscribed in the very name of these diseases by the bias of the meanings of neglect. Moreover, there is silencing of meaning in the official speech of the public authority, via the negligence of this serious matter, as well as in the speech of the pharmaceutical industry, bearing in mind its economical interests, once the NTDs are signified by the imaginary of disease of the poor.","PeriodicalId":40929,"journal":{"name":"Matraga-Estudos Linguisticos e Literario","volume":"27 1","pages":"81-99"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45226624","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Em favor dessa afirmacao, podemos observar, por exemplo, o constante tratamento da teoria nos mais variados manuais linguisticos sobre Pragmatica. Tendo em mente, pois, esse lugar privilegiado que, a despeito de seus criticos, a teoria alcancou, e com vistas a possibilitar novas incursoes na Teoria dos Atos de Fala ou, ate mesmo, em toda a filosofia da linguagem e da mente de John Searle, o presente artigo visa jogar luz sobre os conceitos de “significado” e “verdade” que subjazem a Teoria dos Atos de Fala de orientacao searleana. Para tal, alem de colocacoes pontuais decorrentes do conjunto de escritos do proprio John Searle, recuperamos as consideracoes de Mari (1998), Strawson (1982) e Walker (1997). Ao fim, sustentamos que na base da Teoria dos Atos de Fala esta tanto a concepcao da “verdade como correspondencia” quanto o entendimento de que o significado e o produto das complexas relacoes entre o significado convencional da sentenca (aspecto formal), por um lado, e o significado intencional do falante, enunciador (aspecto enunciativo), por outro.","PeriodicalId":40929,"journal":{"name":"Matraga-Estudos Linguisticos e Literario","volume":"27 1","pages":"138-155"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.12957/matraga.2020.44195","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43882445","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Touche. Sandra, who was vice-president of UFMG from 2014 to 2018, is the third president of the university and one of the less than twenty female presidents among the current managers of 63 federal universities in Brazil. Her academic and institutional work has always been guided by a view committed to contemporary issues, reflected in her preferred research themes: contemporary literature, post-colonial literature, cultural translation, literature produced by women, feminist literary criticism, studies of the diaspora and space in literature. In the conversation, we had with her on 12/9/19, by phone, which is here transcribed, it is clear her intense engagement with university life, either as a manager, as a researcher, or through a commitment to the visibility of women. Camp culture developed in the following decades and seems to have gained new momentum in recent years, as can be seen in Met Gala 2019’s choice of “Camp in Fashion” as its theme. Camp is a hard notion to define; it is pervaded with subjective elements such as taste and with issues relating to the sociocultural roles of objects and observers. This paper draws mainly on Sontag’s essay and on Denilson Lopes’ “Third Camp Manifesto” (2002) to weave a discussion of the concept of “camp”. On the other hand, in order to explore the way camp is able to seduce its viewers, this paper examines Brazilian singer Cauby Peixoto and his performatic mannerisms, excesses and ambiguities, his privileged voice and frantic fans. Using theoretical and historical data as well as my personal experience of watching him on stage, I try to analyse Peixoto’s art and discuss whether the notion of camp is adequate to characterize it. The dilemmas and conundrums of such discussion may lead us to think over certain attitudes and functions of criticism towards its research objects: how does one deal with the wonder that problematizes and challenges academically valued aesthetic concepts without rejecting either the enchantment or the act of conceptualizing?","PeriodicalId":40929,"journal":{"name":"Matraga-Estudos Linguisticos e Literario","volume":"27 1","pages":"156-188"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47574824","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, this article aims to analyze the singularity of this work in the author’s production, based on the revision of the two trends of the novel critical tradition. Firstly, it is assumed that Mana Maria represents a step ahead when it comes to character construction, refusing the typification found in the works of the 1920’s. Secondly, the novel starts to represent the defense of the “400th anniversary paulistas”, a portrait of a socially decaying oligarchy, divided between the glorification of the past and the trivialization of the present. The novel allegedly also symbolizes Sao Paulo’s bitter response to Brazil’s reaction during the Constitutionalist Revolution (1932). In order to look into the critical tradition and the issue of character construction in the 1930’s novels, the analyses by Mario de Andrade (1936), Luis Toledo Machado (1970), Cecilia de Lara (1988), Sergio Miceli (2001) and Luis Bueno (2015), among others, were helpful. On the basis of the theoretical background proposed, it becomes evident that this novel represents a turning point in A. de A. M.’s career. Thus, one can note that the female role acquires a new status within the author’s work, whilst intersecting with powerful female representations that permeate the 1930’s novels.","PeriodicalId":40929,"journal":{"name":"Matraga-Estudos Linguisticos e Literario","volume":"27 1","pages":"244-261"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47687703","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We start from the assumption that the 20th century history of language teaching usually focusses on the search for the best method, while in the beginning of the 21st century there is a paradigm shift towards a post-method pedagogy (cf. KUMARAVADIVELU, 2006). In order to investigate the narration of this transitional moment by scholars in the field of DaF, we adopt concepts of the Sociology of Knowledge Approach to Discourse (SKAD) by Keller (2011a, 2011b), which is still relatively unknown in Brazil. SKAD investigates the processes of construction, legitimation and transformation of knowledge fields from an angle that combines the Foucaultian perspective on discourse with the sociology of knowledge presented by Berger and Luckmann (1966). The analysis of the corpus reveals the presence of divergent discursive strategies in the introductory books, both with regard to the presentation of the past and the evaluation of the recent didactic-methodological scenario, pointing to changing knowledge regimes in the current academic discussion. -- Original in German.","PeriodicalId":40929,"journal":{"name":"Matraga-Estudos Linguisticos e Literario","volume":"27 1","pages":"13-33"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49492024","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
