K. Medtner based on J. W. von Goethe’s poems “In Passing by”, “Found”, “The Violet”, united by the ideas of natural philosophy, suggest the possibility of mentally combining them into a single cyclic work with three parts – a virtual vocal cycle. The paper presents the idea of Goethe’s natural philosophy about the problem of the relationship between man and nature, reflected in his poetic works; analyses the musical content of three songs by N. K. Medtner based on J. W. von Goethe’s poems “In Passing by”, “Found”, “The Violet”. The scientific novelty of the study lies in determining the musical means of combining three songs by N. K. Medtner based on J. W. von Goethe’s poems “In Passing by”, “Found”, “The Violet”. As a result, it has been proved that Goethe symbolically depicts the problem of the relationship between man and nature in his poems in three versions – positive, neutral and dismissive; the integrity of the virtual cycle proposed by us is ensured not only by the tonal scheme, but also by the plot logic of Goethe’s poems.","PeriodicalId":365294,"journal":{"name":"Pan-Art","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128446853","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the paper the vocal cycle «VI ORIGINAL CANZONETTAS» is analyzed. It comprises the combination of independent and finished by the form of songs subordinate to the same artistic design. The composer follows the basic principle of the integration of parts into a cycle – the principle of music character contrast – and dramatically unites separate sketches, moods and images with the same author’s point of view. The success of this cycle was due to lyrics chosen by the composer. The novelty of the research lies in the determination of Haydn’s vocal music specificity characterized by rather complex relations of text and music in terms of both content and expression. As a result, it is proved that the maturity of expression appeared in Haydn’s style under the influence of fresh London impressions and is clearly observed in English songs. This is evident in the use of the musical language for composing the works of the other genres in London (primarily, symphonies). So the composer raises the vocal genre to a qualitatively different stage leading directly to Schubert.","PeriodicalId":365294,"journal":{"name":"Pan-Art","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117267453","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"“The Fine” and “The Expressive” in Hugo Wolf’s Songs","authors":"Tatiana Borisovna Reznitckaia","doi":"10.30853/pa20220016","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.30853/pa20220016","url":null,"abstract":"The purpose of this research paper is the characterize the creative heritage of Hugo Wolf from the position of “the fine” and “the expressive” in hic chamber and vocal compositions. There are more than three hundred of the composer’s songs which comprises the vocal cycles on the poems of H. Heine, E. Mörike, J. Eichendorff, J. Goethe, G. Keller, M. Buonarroti and the samples of author’s and folk poetry of Spain and Italy in the translation of E. Geibel and P. Heyse that were set to music. All these compositions rightfully belong to the gold fund of the Austro-German Lied. The paper presents the fact that Wolf strove for the maximum convergence of verbal and musical components and chose the word intonation sphere or poetic phase as an original unit to show the full literary centrist tendencies of that time. The scientific novelty lies in the determination of the main features of Wolf’s chamber and vocal compositions such as fine art origin; landscape sketches where the nature plays the role of the main character; picturesqueness which is given even at the level of transmission of external properties of objects; active usage of the ability of musical intonation for imitating sounds; movement factor presented in metrorhythmic, tempo, dynamic parameters of tonal structures; expressiveness of musical portraits. It is grounded that Wolf sought to show the truthful and multilateral artistic reality embodied in a poetic original source.","PeriodicalId":365294,"journal":{"name":"Pan-Art","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115110383","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of the paper is to consider the themes related to the seasons in choral genres at the present stage of their development. Scientific novelty lies in choosing A. Kiselyov’s and V. Khodosh’s works as the research material. As a result of considering two vivid embodiments of the theme “Seasons” in the choral music of the XX century, their poetic sources, analysing the stylistic features, as well as the features peculiar to the creative worldview of the cycles’ creators A. Kiselyov and V. The ideas of the domestic and foreign scholars about Haydn’s creative work are being expanded and enriched with new data. In the paper the historical meaning of Haydn’s creative work in the ХХI century is defined not only by his innovative sonata-symphonic forms and the formation of the major classical genres of symphony, concert for a solo instrument with orchestra, quartet and sonata but Haydn’s significant contribution to the development of instrumental trio, opera, the Austro-German Lied. This rationale of this phenomenon is the scientific novelty of the study. As a result, it is concluded that the renewed interest of modern researchers towards the little-studied pages of the composer’s art heritage shows the reconsideration of the role of these genres in the evolution of the world musical art as the undeservingly neglected works of the great composer according to their depth of expression and originality of composition means are not inferior and even compete with the composer’s well-recognized compositions.","PeriodicalId":365294,"journal":{"name":"Pan-Art","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114769886","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Schubert’s songs by an outstanding pianist of the XX century Mariya Veniaminovna Yudina for the history and theory of art. Particular attention is paid to the requirements imposed by M. V. Yudina on poets when creating a literary translation of a vocal text. The study is novel in that it is the first to consider the issue of equirithmic translation in the context of M. V. Yudina’s integral creative heritage, her views on the nature of art in general and on the specifics of incarnations of the word in a vocal work. As a result, the study has shown that the Russian text congenial to the original was necessary for Yudina not only to penetrate into the essence and meaning of a vocal composition, but it also opened a way beyond the “purely aesthetic boundaries of art”, “into the world of true incarnations of the Word”.","PeriodicalId":365294,"journal":{"name":"Pan-Art","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121111934","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Kant and A. Schopenhauer. Prokofiev distinguishes between a priori philosophy of music and a posteriori philosophy of music in his creative work. The first one is represented by thoughts about music (creative will); the second one is represented by musical works themselves (creative ideas). The scientific novelty of the research lies in considering Kant’s antinomies of pure reason as Prokofiev’s frame of reference in his life and creative work. Thus, the composer’s symphonic oeuvre develops as a chain of binary structures representing semantic antinomies, opposite judgments about reality correlated with each other as a “thesis” and an “antithesis”. As a result of the research, the author comes to the conclusion that Prokofiev’s symphonies, connected in pairs, capture the history of the first half of the XX century as a tragic rift of the world between the forces of good and evil, creation and destruction, freedom and cruel necessity.","PeriodicalId":365294,"journal":{"name":"Pan-Art","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122586841","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using archival documents and press publications, the paper considers various areas of performing on the balalaika in the Orenburg region during the specified period – solo performance, ensemble performance and orchestra performance. The study is novel in that it consistently traces the stages of the emergence, formation and further development of balalaika art in the musical culture of the Orenburg region. As a result of the study, it has been shown that the continued interest of Orenburg residents in the balalaika since the XIX century and up to the 1950s contributed to the cultural enlightenment of citizens, the creation of student, amateur and professional musical groups, the opening of classes for folk instruments and the subsequent professionalisation of music education in the region.","PeriodicalId":365294,"journal":{"name":"Pan-Art","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124839316","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The paper determines the significant themes and motifs embodied in musical works, paintings, theatrical productions of artists of the Tambov region. The scientific novelty of the study is accounted for by the fact that it presents a panorama of the themes found in the creative work of Tambov authors of the 30s-50s of the XX century, which makes it possible to determine how the Soviet reality was reflected in the works under consideration. As a result of the study, it has been found that in the works of Tambov composers, artists, theatre directors of the 1930s-1950s, the emotional modes of this era are revealed, i.e. the enthusiasm of the “pioneers” in socialism building at the beginning of the period, the heroic opposition to and victory over fascism, the spirit-lifting efforts to rebuild the devastated country during the postwar years; in addition, it has been determined that in the 50s, the search for the image of a contemporary hero led to the authors’ interest in local history themes – the nature and people of the Tambov region.","PeriodicalId":365294,"journal":{"name":"Pan-Art","volume":"71 1-3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116603783","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
