Because of the dynamic character of manufacturing itself, its market and environmental situations, manufacturing firms are facing tremendous significance challenges. Developing countries are striving to compete in the global intense market, including Malaysia, and for that reason, this key industry needs to maintain and boost local capabilities for the economic strengthen and stability. As the technological capability (TC) has a strong involvement in the production and operation sectors which are the cornerstones of each manufacturing company, it should be improved and monitored periodically. The nature of a long term commitment of the technological capability creation and accumulation requires a huge considerable effort from a company to realize the effects of TC have on performance measures in every aspect while gaining competitive advantages and sustaining commercial success in the local and international market within their operational periods. Based from a resource-based view, it is in congruence that capabilities will promote firms' competitive advantage by improving the performance. The major intention of this paper is to have an overview on how TC actually relates towards performance measures in manufacturing companies.","PeriodicalId":364834,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Symposium on Technology Management and Emerging Technologies","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128401886","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Consequently, these energy resources must be supplied from other provinces. This study purposed to evaluate the existing energy demand and supply in Yogyakarta and to predict the supply and demand by empowering the use of renewable energy which meets the objective of the energy mix and energy elasticity of less than 1. The objectives of energy mix for renewable energy based on KEN and KED scenarios were 17% and 9.28% respectively in 2025. This study used a model of LEAP (Long-range Energy Alternatives Planning System) version: 2011.0.0.40. Based on KED scenario, the energy demand in Yogyakarta showed that the highest energy user sector was the transportation and the household sectors. To achieve the objectives of the elasticity ratio of energy, first by decreasing the energy consumption in transportation and electricity sectors. Transportation sector consumed 53.49% of energy but only contributed 10.69% added value to GDP. Utility sector (electricity, water and gas) used 36.41% of energy consumption, but the value added to GDP was only 0.91%. The second step was to increase economic growth in the commercial sector and agriculture. Commercial sector was the highest contributor to GDP at 23.90% but used only 4.25% of energy. The agricultural sector could provide an added value of 18.59% to GDP, but only used 0.50% of energy. With existing resources, renewable energy generation in 2011 accounted for only 0.88% of total load. In 2025 the renewable energy generation is expected to contribute to the energy mix by 5%.","PeriodicalId":364834,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Symposium on Technology Management and Emerging Technologies","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134391840","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The antenna is capable of band rejection of interferences arising from Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN) at 5.2GHz and Dedicated Short-Range Communications (DSRC) at 5.8GHz. The proposed antenna consists of a rectangular patch fabricated on low-cost 35 mm × 35 mm FR-4 board, of 1.6 mm thickness, and relative permittivity of 4.5. The band-notch characteristic is achieved with a notch slot at the center of the patch. By including a partial ground plane, the antenna achieves a good impedance match over the required UWB frequency range. The measured and simulated results show the antenna has good reflection coefficient performance in the UWB spectrum, with the required band rejection from 5GHz to 6GHz. Furthermore, the novel antenna presents an omni-directional radiation pattern in the H-plane and a nearly monopole-like radiation pattern in the E-plane.","PeriodicalId":364834,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Symposium on Technology Management and Emerging Technologies","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126601734","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
