Therefore, carpet manufacturers certify their products with labels that represent the expected change in appearance after the first year of installation. No automated system exists yet for objectively assigning these ranks. In this approach, we present an automated method for assessing carpet wear based on image analysis. For this, depth and intensity information are captured from eight types of carpet samples. The results show that the method correctly assigns wear labels from 1 to 5 in steps of 1 for six of the eight carpet types.","PeriodicalId":359559,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE ANDESCON","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116001858","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The paper describes the function of each electronic device in the navigation system and explains the tools for rapid software prototyping. This programming environment uses a high-level graphical language like Simulink® to design a test model, and from it automatically build the executable code in C, which runs in the QNX real-time operating system during each flight. Matlab® Real-Time Workshop is the tool that enables this efficient programming methodology. The tests in pilot assisted flights show that the environment makes easy the development of state estimators, finite state machines, controllers and other subsystems.","PeriodicalId":359559,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE ANDESCON","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116189878","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this model, we implement two classical game-theoretical approaches, which depend on a payoff matrix. Each of these matrices is calculated based on the multiattribute utility theory. The methods that we describe are: non-cooperative game theory and an evolutionary game-theoretical approach known as the replicator dynamics. Literature and experience show that, due to the nature of FSR construction, its time dependency makes it hard to calibrate at first glance by simple measurements. The methodology employed is based upon the comparison of the measured data obtained from a FSR with the one obtained from a calibrated load cell. The force loading and unloading processes are performed automatically with a mechatronic device which allows having time invariant and variant force profiles. Special analysis is taken over creep and hysteresis compensation along with its relation with static and dynamic applications with the help of existing literature. At the end a time dependant function is obtained that relates the force applied on the sensor, and the signal obtained from it, allowing for the use on applications to measure force and pressure in ranges from 0 to 20N and 0 to 100mmHg respectively.","PeriodicalId":359559,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE ANDESCON","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122203412","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To reduce risks in these equipments, it is important to know the electromagnetic field environment that can be found in the hospitals and clinics. In this paper, the results of electromagnetic field measurements, both low and high frequency, carried out in different departments of a large hospital are presented. The results show that power frequency magnetic field in some rooms was higher than immunity test levels established by international standard for medical devices. However, the high frequency electric field environment in all rooms measured was lower than international standard.","PeriodicalId":359559,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE ANDESCON","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129945616","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed approach takes into account the analysis of the signals that could be acquired from modern on-board diagnostic systems (OBD-II), global positioning systems (GPS) and other localization sensors. Diagnosis of erratic driving could be essential to reduce accident rates, because of several applications that may result based on it. The overall process can be summarized in three steps. First, extraction of suitable signals (throttle, brake, steering, velocity, location) related to driver actions. Secondly, mathematical processing of the above signals for a proper utilization by the intelligent system. Finally, driving faults detection and overall performance rating based on artificial neural networks. Experimental results show the feasibility and reliability of the proposed approach in different driving situations.","PeriodicalId":359559,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE ANDESCON","volume":"83 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133649596","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
