As knowledge is to be applied by humans, provisions must be taken for its correct application and implementation. Science, as knowledge generator, has the capacity to establish how to apply that knowledge and, to determine how the people who implement it, must proceed. Then, science has the ability to determine how to prepare the professionals who will apply and implement that knowledge. Nieto-Chaupis","doi":"10.1109/ANDESCON.2010.5633605","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/ANDESCON.2010.5633605","url":null,"abstract":"Complex systems such as the ball mill grinding circuit have been traditionally perceived by many researchers as MIMO systems due to the inherent existence of several I/O variables thereby producing interConnectivity among them. As it is well-known, variables involved in the system are strongly correlated each other, fact that is reflected at the influence of the set of manipulated variables on the output ones. This paper has paid attention on the evolution of the particle-size variable by analyzing its behavior when it is subject to disturbances during the mineral processing. Thus, a methodology in order to search the effect of implementing functions of random nature whose existence might be attained to the interaction among variables as normally occurs in a balls mill grinding circuit dynamics, is provided. The proposed approach stresses on the design of PBL courses, taking into account aspects like problem definition, project and its progression, lectures, student teams, and student evaluation. This work seeks to orient engineering teachers in the use of PBL as an educational approach in specific subjects availing of the available resources from traditional education and incorporating web-based resources. The paper presents a study case carried out in the control courses of an Electronics Engineering program at Universidad del Valle, Colombia. Then, we propose a coordination mechanism applied to intelligent surveillance methods. The approach aims to increase the time in which agents are able to ensure intruder's tracking. The coordination is based on information from sensors of each agent, which are evaluated to make a suitable decision to guarantee tracking. Several types of heterogeneous agents are used in this approach: indoor mobile agents, outdoor mobile agents and static agents. We introduce a new alternative to control systems with complex dynamics, based on evolutionary game theory. Specifically, we use dynamics that are represented by the replicator equation, which has been successfully used in autonomous systems, control flight, and temperature control. It also proposes a Colored Petri Net model of the Intelligent Protection System that represents main system agents (i.e. from protection and transmission systems) and their interaction.
