The method directly identifies the non-stationary parts of the waveforms from the instantaneous voltage and current values instead of using the rms sequence values. Unlike the existing methods, the proposed one computes only one segmentation index instead of one for each phase. The segmentation method was tested using both real-world and synthetic waveforms. Real-world data has been provided by the utility ENDESA DISTRIBUCIÓN (Spain) whereas synthetic data have been generated with ATP. Real waveforms correspond to a variety of disturbances leaded by different underlying causes, such as downstream/upstream fault networks, transformer-energization, capacitor-switching and motor starting events.","PeriodicalId":359559,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE ANDESCON","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117217837","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the first place, the system is analyzed, knowing the main stability problems. Then, the system is linearized to know which the controllable and observable modes are. Then, another analysis is made to know the better location and the feedback signal of the devices to implement the decentralized scheme. Finally, some time-domain simulations, continuous power flows, and frequency analyses are done to present the effects of the decentralized control.","PeriodicalId":359559,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE ANDESCON","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115026306","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These standards shall also prepare them for the challenges to be faced in the future with big changes as expected from the Smart Grid. The first part of the methodology correspond to the review and analysis of the current situation focusing on the operating structure and the existing set of operating standards in comparison with leading international practices. As a result, changes and improvements to existing operating reliability and security standards and additional standards can be formulated and analyzed. In a second part a set of proposed standards is formulated together with the relevant organizations that deal with those standards. Validation simulations of quantitative criteria and technical performance requirements with a set of indicators which also allow the continuous verification of the system performance with respect to its security and reliability are analyzed. The methodology is a continuous process since changes can be introduced if some specific conditions that require standard adjustment take place.","PeriodicalId":359559,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE ANDESCON","volume":"212 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116754277","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A practical mathematical formulation for solving inverse and direct kinematics is provided. This approach also includes the formulation and implementation of a home made arrange of accelerometers to infer robot displacements in global coordinates system. Although we provide a direct kinematics solution, we further establish an inverse kinematics formulation using four parameters to exert trajectory control, namely instantaneous linear velocity, angular velocity, and robot Z-turning axes. The formulation for robot angular velocity is given differently from other research approaches, where it is stated in terms of the robot's geometry, which directly impacts the robot's swift capability. Trajectory control is yielded by controlling the location of the robot turning Z-axis with respect to the instantaneous center of rotation by direct control of the wheels speeds.","PeriodicalId":359559,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE ANDESCON","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124710968","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The vehicle has an embedded system based in OS Linux, where is controlled all the functions of the vehicle using digital inputs and outputs, analog inputs and ports RS232. The architecture of the software in this system uses daemons; inter process communication (shared memory, FIFO arrays and semaphores) and an apache server to communicate with the remote control station. The remote station is a PC, where can be visualized three cameras, and to monitor and control all function of the robot with a gamepad or joystick. The architecture has been tested obtaining good results. It also presents a really good flexibility to integrate with different remote control stations in multiple platforms with security and standard protocols.","PeriodicalId":359559,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE ANDESCON","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123639219","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To illustrate the implementation of this approach, a reduced-dimensionality model of the ethane molecule (C2H4), in which the two methyl (CH3) groups are considered as coupled rigid rotors, is chosen as a tractable prototype. For relevant initial conditions, the multiconflgurational time-dependent Hartree (MCTDH) method is employed to simulate the quantum dynamics of rotational energy transmission between the two methyl groups. A pilot study was carried out in order to evaluate the plan tar pressure distribution of a new design of footwear with the curved sole on a group of females who works in a dental clinic. Objective: The aim of this preliminary study was to directly assess the effect of the footwear with the curved sole on plantar pressure distribution patterns in standing position. Methods: The pilot study was conducted in two sessions with an interval of 20 days. Records were taken using a platform of pressure measurement distribution in normal subjects, in (a) bare foot, (b) conventional shoes and (c) footwear with the curved sole. Mean pressure and contact area were collected. This study has revealed significant differences between the plantar pressure patterns found in normal subjects wearing footwear with curved sole compared to those found when they were wearing conventional shoes in standing position.","PeriodicalId":359559,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE ANDESCON","volume":"176 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131144019","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Both can be seen as complementary networks: water distribution systems supply the commodity to consumers while sewer systems drain the wastewater which is produced by domestic usage and industrial facilities. In the water distribution case an application of a distributed control scheme for management of urban water supply networks is proposed. The scheme is based on local model predictive control (MPC) and a parallel coordination that implements cooperation among local MPC controllers. For the sewer system case a nonlinear predictive control is presented. To deal with the nonlinear and non-differentiable features of the used predictor model, a direct search method is proposed to solve the optimization problem. Both cases are based on the Bogota's networks and results illustrate the potential of the approaches.","PeriodicalId":359559,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE ANDESCON","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133681031","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
