We use AI concepts established and used in the implementation of character behaviour for games, such as the Belief-Desire-Intention model and Finite State Machines. A discussion on their role in efficient agent behaviour encoding is presented. We then suggest a novel differentiated combination of these techniques to enable the process of self-adaptation for intelligent agents used to represent characters in virtual environments.","PeriodicalId":359559,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE ANDESCON","volume":"195 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115511340","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This work focuses on finding the most relevant parameters to classify voice aging. The most significant parameters extracted from the glottal signal are chosen to identify the voice aging process of men and women. After analyzing their statistics, the chosen parameters are used as entries to a neural network to classify male and female Brazilian speakers in three different age groups: young (from 15 to 30 years old), adult (from 31 to 60 years old), and senior (from 61 to 90 years old). The corpus used for this work was composed by one hundred and twenty Brazilian speakers (both males and females) of different ages. As compared to similar works, we employ a larger corpus and obtain a superior classification rate.","PeriodicalId":359559,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE ANDESCON","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116276821","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Basically defines the relationship between two parties: the supplier and customer. An SLA defines and identifies customer needs at the same time controlling their expectations of service in relation to the ability of the supplier, provides a framework of understanding, simplifies complicated issues, reduce areas of conflict and encourages dialogue with the dispute. However, if it is considered scenario in which combines different networks in a convergent environment with mobility (integrating SIP and Mobile IP) is required to undertake a study to identify the QoE and QoS parameters that must be evaluated in order to maintain SLA agreed between the supplier and customer. This paper shows review of the current environment of telecommunications, the development of IMS and mobile environments by proposing the development of a project that seeks the identification and definition of the most important technical and economical factors to be considered in a interoperability scenario, in order to define a Service Level Agreement (SLA) that supports the required QoS and QoE in the interconnection between a fixed and nobile networks using MIP and SIP protocols.","PeriodicalId":359559,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE ANDESCON","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123557055","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The strategy is conformed by two main processes: a line extraction phase based on a modified version of the Incremental algorithm, followed by a merging phase that grouped the extracted lines which represents the same real structure. This strategy is oriented for a sensory system configuration conformed by a set of range sensors. No a priori knowledge about the shape, or the number of the structures of the environment is necessary. The resulting map is a line-based representation in a global reference, without being necessary a previous construction of a local representation of the environment. The implemented algorithm is tested in both, simulated and real environments, with a robot platform equipped with a sensory system composed by 24 ultrasonic sensors in a ring configuration. Results show the viability of the proposed strategy.","PeriodicalId":359559,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE ANDESCON","volume":"149 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127517224","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is a new and advanced technique which can reconstruct sparse signals from a few random acquired samples, achieved to avoid the Nyquist's criteria. Reconstruction of a signal with just few data is a hard task converted in a lineal optimization process with various ways to find out the solution. Widely-used for research at present, CS is a useful tool of sampling/compression that only works with sparse signals, moreover we were able to implement CS in some kind of signals and images, but it is necessary to \"rewrite it\" according to a few meaningful terms, which can be obtained using properties time/frequency/energy, etc. The derived, cosine discrete transform (DCT), Fourier and Wavelet analysis are some of the tools to sparse convertion of signals and images.","PeriodicalId":359559,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE ANDESCON","volume":"232 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123155007","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The designed system is used for nonlinear function generation. First, a nonlinear function is chosen and off-line training is carried out using MATLAB ANFIS to obtain the premise and consequence parameters of the fuzzy rules. Then, these parameters are converted to a binary fixed-point representation and are stored in read-only memories of the VHDL code. Finally, simulations are performed to verify the system operation and to evaluate the system response time for given input data.","PeriodicalId":359559,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE ANDESCON","volume":"125 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116088997","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a result the reliability of electricity supply will be increased dramatically, something useful for society that will depend more and more on this source of energy. In this scenario the distributed generation and the energy storage systems will be key technologies for the Smart Grids development. This paper presents the main aspects related to energy efficiency in the Colombian power system and a possible scenario way into the future in order to show important aspects of power systems evolving to energy systems. This evolution as shown in the paper will make the system better and smarter but not without solving important challenges. In some cases the amount of local generation may be enough to feed the complete demand of the industrial facility and in others, its amount may be just enough to keep running the critical processes during a major event. In this paper the analysis of the dynamical performance of two industrial facilities interconnected with the transmission network. The power system of each facility has local generation enough to supply the complete demand of the facility and uses the interconnection with the transmission network either to sell the generation excess to the utility or as a backup during emergency conditions due to a shortage of local generation. Results indicate that the frequency stability problem is an important issue in the dynamics of the industrial power systems following the lost of the industrial-utility tie.","PeriodicalId":359559,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE ANDESCON","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133273287","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
