{"title":"REMOTE ACADEMIC EDUCATION IN THE OPINION OF TEACHERS","authors":"Zdzisław Czajka","doi":"10.5604/01.3001.0054.0927","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.5604/01.3001.0054.0927","url":null,"abstract":"The article presents an assessment of the quality and effectiveness of remote academic education by teachers, including its advantages and disadvantages, affecting the preparation of students for professional work. The analysis was based on research on the quality of distance learning during the pandemic (2020–2021), conducted among academic teachers at selected public universities. Other publications on distance learning at various levels of education and reports of the Polish Accreditation Committee were also used. The following issues were analysed and evaluated: preparation of universities and academic teachers to conduct studies in a remote form, effectiveness of various ways and forms of conducting classes and objectivity of colloquia and exams, commitment and quality of students' work, assessment of the effectiveness of remote studies against the background of traditional ones, advantages and disadvantages of distance learning and teachers' opinions on the further use of the remote form in studies. Almost half of the surveyed academic teachers assessed the effectiveness of remote studies worse than traditional ones, especially in the field of teaching skills important in the future professional work of students. Slightly fewer respondents believed that there is no difference between the effectiveness of remote and traditional studies. Petryshyn","doi":"10.5604/01.3001.0053.7101","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.5604/01.3001.0053.7101","url":null,"abstract":"The article analyzes the stages development of the Swedish economic model from the mid-nineteenth century to the crisis in period 20082010. Sweden is the richest Scandinavian country and one of the most industrialized countries in the world. Sweden is an economically highly developed and efficiently organized country. For the last few years, the economy has been in a phase of economic growth. In the period 20182021, the gross domestic product (GDP) grew at a rate of almost 2.0% in the conditions of low inflation (approx. 3% annually) and a relatively high unemployment rate (7.0% in 2019 and 8.8% in 2021). The economic results achieved by Sweden are not accidental. This is the result of the harmonized economic policy pursued continuously by the Swedish government, which actively affects the material course of economic growth processes in this country. The development of economic policy in Sweden can be divided into two periods: the first (1970s and 1980s) was characterized by the decline of traditionally understood industrialization. The change in the political arena in the period 1976-1982, which resulted in the removal of the Social Democrats from power, did not stop the subsequent fiscalism and the increase in public and social spending. The rate of economic growth in the long-term horizon was declining. Between 1961 and 1970, the average annual growth of Swedish GDP was 8.9%, 5.6% in the 1970s and 6.9% in the 1980s, respectively.The process of internationalization of Swedish enterprises, liberal approaches to economic cooperation with foreign countries and the recovery of public finances, whose dynamic development took place in the 1990s, are the second characteristic period in Swedens economic policy. For more than two decades, Swedish governments have maintained strong fiscal discipline. After theeconomic reset in the early 1990s, the general downward trend in the share of public spending in Swedish GDP seems to have come to a halt. In the last 3 years (20192021), public spending did not exceed 50% of GDP. Moreover, Sweden has maintained a low level of public debt for years. The ratio of public debt to GDP decreased from 78% (1994) to 35.2% (2019), 39.6% in 2020 and in 2021 36.7%. One of the important factors enabling the rapid economic growth of Sweden was high expenditure on research and development (R&D). For several years, Sweden has been at the forefront of countries investing the most in the development of new technologies. An important factor in Swedens economic growth has also been the high level of foreign investment. According to UN statistics, Sweden is one of the most attractive places to invest foreign capital. The impulse of the Swedish economy over many years was the development of exports, which in 2021 reached the level of approx. PLN 176 billion. Euro, which puts Sweden at the forefront of the world. The aim of this study was to identify the basic aspects of creating and functioning of social service centers, with particular emphasis on their tasks, functions and organizational structure. They draw attention to the representatives of the middle class who, as a subject of interest for creators of social policy offer, and also as the clients of such social services, remain marginalized. By analyzing the significance of the crises (unemployment and health crisis), they recognize their consequences for the quality of life and the possibility of fulfilling the aspirations of the middle class, offering the extension of the social help offer which will not be limited to the reacting to the crucial deficits and dependency. The authors take a closer look at the identity of the middle class, discussing its values, norms and needs from the perspective of shaping the future offer of support, relevant to its needs and social costs. They point to the importance of the middle-class orientation to the success, the cult of self-sufficiency, as well as status insecurity and loosening of the social bonds for the formation of the needs and ways of satisfying them. Based on the diaries of the unemployed people and the diaries written during the COVID-19 pandemic, they analyse selected issues related to the quality of labour market services and the health care system. The newcomers have arrived in Poland for better living conditions, better prospects for their families or just to flee from the war. The common denominator of these motives is the need for integration, mainly on the labour market. However, when it comes to integration policy, the labour market remains one of the most neglected areas. The measures taken were limited to providing basic access to public services and general support tools. Owing to the lack of a systematic approach, employers often take initiative and decide individually to provide such support. Our study aims at identifying and assessing the scope of the activities undertaken to support migrant workers in the workplace, on the basis of quantitative research conducted among the employers. We use administrative data (Syriusz, ZUS) and a counterfactual approach (propensity score matching). We show that wage subsidy is more effective than on-the-job training. Participation in wage subsidy instead of on-the-job training increases the probability of employment by about 10 p.p. two years after the start of the ALMP. Classroom training is less effective than on-the-job training in the short run but more effective in the long run.
