Modern historians often turn to the study of laughter practices, including in line with the study of the history of emotions. The authors offer an example of studying laughter practices in the local space of the city of Magnitogorsk during its construction. Based on various sources, the article examines laughter practices that are formed and operate on the territory of the city in conditions of unstable socio-economic development and lack of infrastructure. The main attention is paid to the culture of laughter and the formed emotions in relation to the construction, formation and functioning of Magnitogorsk and the construction of a metallurgical plant. The study identifies and characterizes the periods of development of laughter practices in the city, shows the evolution of humor. The first period is highlighted, which became the stage of the formation of laughter practices based on \"guest\" humor, represented by the work of professional metropolitan journalists of the Krokodil publishing house. Emphasis is placed on the features of the formation of Magnitogorsk laughter practices. Special attention is paid to the forms of humor, the theme of humorous sketches and the functions it performs. At the intersection of professional \"guest\" and everyday local humor, the causality and direction of laughter practices become obvious.","PeriodicalId":343725,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of Udmurt University. The forms and practices of changing the communicative space of the university intelligentsia of the early Soviet period are considered. A number of fundamental questions have been raised about the effectiveness and consequences of the policy of the Soviet government in the field of socio-cultural transformations. Since the study of language practices is based on a phenomenological idea of socio-cultural transformations, and on the analysis of a number of archival documents, the article presents a number of communicative practices of the intelligentsia itself, as well as forms of change in the language professional space by the authorities. The paper concludes that the scientific intelligentsia, under the pressure of external circumstances, was forced to take an active part in the formation of a new language and change itself.","PeriodicalId":343725,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of Udmurt University. The purpose of the study is a definition of current trends and main streams in this field of historical science. The following approaches in historiography are distinguished: the study of cinema as a historical source of daily and political history of a particular era; cinematography as a tool of official soviet ideology and indoctrination; reflection in films of society’s dominant views on historical events of pre-revolutionary Russia and USSR; cinematography as a teacher suggesting “correct” patterns of behavior for Soviet Union’s citizens; the creation of an actual image of “enemies” in cinema.","PeriodicalId":343725,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of Udmurt University. The political discourse of Brazil, unlike the discourse in English, German or other languages, has so far not attracted due attention of researchers, and the present paper is intended to fill the lacuna. The work presents the results of analysis of speeches of this genre of four Brazilian presidents: J. Sarney, L. da Silva, D. Rousseff and J. Bolsonaro. The article describes typical features and elements inherent in the genre of inaugural adress as a whole, the fundamental characteristic of which is its ritual character. A comparison of the speeches of the politicians chosen by the author for the study, despite the similarity of their content and the identity of the thematic blocks, gives an idea of the linguistic features and speech strategies of each particular president.","PeriodicalId":343725,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of Udmurt University. The actual example from the Internet global computer network shows a true role of the asterisk* in print. It has been argued that such substitution may have even more harmful effect on the reader, than an unchanged swear word. Other means of graphical euphemization of obscene word forms are considered as well, e.g., @, #, $ symbols instead of one of the letters of a swear word. QWERTY-effect is discussed in relation to Russian and foreign swear words. The following questions are raised: which symbols are used for euphemization of printed abusive words, how is the choice made and which symbols are completely inappropriate for this? A mean for complete masking of obscene words using a mark [censored] is suggested.","PeriodicalId":343725,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of Udmurt University. But it is quite difficult to determine the real time of occurrence of these phenomena in the speech of Italian speakers: the number of reliable written samples of oral informal communication of the past is very small, and in the case of communication that took place several centuries ago, there are no such sources at all. Comedies are very valuable material for analysis, as comic theatre is closely connected with the phenomenon of «parlato recitato» - colloquial speech in stage performance, which uses a complex of linguistic means associated with informal oral discourse. So, it is possible to trace examples of relatively accurately reproduced verbal communication of past centuries in the texts of comedies. The presence of emphatic constructions allows us to confirm the hypothesis that the Italian language nowadays does not develop new constructions and structures, but rather undergoes a process of restandartization, in which phenomena that were considered characteristic of colloquial usage change their position and become normative.","PeriodicalId":343725,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of Udmurt University. The way it is implicated in the lexical layer of the novel’s structure is analyzed, its language game principle is revealed. The full and incomplete versions of Finnegans Wake in German (H. Beck, D. Stündel, F. Rathjen), Russian (A. Rene, A. Volokhonsky, S. Divakov) and Spanish (V. Pozanco, M. Zabaloy) languages are explored. Various translation strategies are considered. Although brilliant decisions for the units transferring circular concept are exemplified, they are predictably subjective, as it is the translator who figures out and interprets informative substrate semantically and logically associated with reality. As a result of the necessary radical transformation of the source text the reader gets the modified version of Finnegans Wake rather than a translation in the true sense.","PeriodicalId":343725,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of Udmurt University. The author, using the example of a little-studied play by E.P. Rostopchina “The return of Chatsky to Moscow or the Meeting of Familiar Faces after a Twenty-Five Years' Separation” (1856) considers the examples of an onomastic game that reveals the idea of the work more fully, emphasizes the author's position, and testifies to the originality of the writer's artistic world. The studies of linguists and literary critics have repeatedly confirmed the importance of onomastics in the interpretation of a literary text, complementing the ideological, thematic and artistic aspects of the work. In the article, thanks to a comparative analysis of the anthroponyms of the famous comedy by A.S. Griboyedov and plays by E.P. Rostopchina the significance of the work “The Woes of Wit” in Russian literature and the literary life of Russia in the middle of the 19th century is emphasized. The material for analysis involves not only anthroponyms, but also phaleronyms, which rarely become the subject for study in the context of a literary work. It is worth mentioning, that E.P. Rostopchina, having written a kind of continuation of the comedy “The Woes of Wit” organically included the most vivid anthroponyms created by A.S. Griboyedov within the framework of the classic tradition in the plot of her work, and created new bright and ambiguous names of heroes, counting on a thoughtful and erudite reader.","PeriodicalId":343725,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of Udmurt University.
