The analysis of the epic text as a specific space for interpreting the events of objective reality makes it possible to identify determinants in the hierarchy of the achromatic and chromatic subsystems of symbolic color designations. For the first time the dynamic characteristics of the development of the explicatory and semi-generative potential of coloremes are determined as special signs of marking textual positions for changing the interpretive code from the individual to the general cultural one. Based on a multi-aspect approach, including the techniques of interpretive, semiotic, conceptual and hermeneutic-noematic analysis, the authors explore the determination mechanisms of color representatives of meta-concepts in archaic and modern linguistic cultures (English, French and Karachay-Balkarian) by a vertical sociocultural context. The material of the study was the texts of the Old French epic, represented by its most representative form – chanson de geste, as well as the text of Nart sagas and Beowulf, in which the hierarchical organization of the achromatic-chromatic semiotic space is revealed. The authors identify the achromatic two-element code “white/black” as the dominant coloristic symbols in the epics. As a result of the study, the following coloratives marking the primary discretion of the world and the prototypical opposition of “friend or foe” were identified: in positive space – blanche, blican, акъ; within the derogation area – noir, hárne, къара. The authors refer contextually polar and perceptually close colorems ou, golde, алтын; rougez, reód, къызыл to the key verbalizers of the gradual scale of chromatic space in the semiotization process of the opposition “good – bad” in the epic text. On the interpretation of cultural noematics define two basic subsystems of the color naming semiotization – generalized personalized images and environmental codes. The semiotic space of color meanings structures the recipient’s noesis and introduces it into the general semiosis.","PeriodicalId":34231,"journal":{"name":"Aktual''nye problemy filologii i pedagogicheskoi lingvistiki","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43131834","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is established that intertextuality and precedence in a certain interval of abstraction are almost completely synonymous, and translations marked by the integrity of similarity, coded texts, and plagiarism also fall into the number of secondary texts. The semantic content of the national anthem is presented in the form of linguistic and cultural meanings (concepts). Among such semantic formations, in addition to the basic concepts of the patriotic discourse of the motherland and freedom, there are cultural meanings associated with the previous genres of hymnody and lyric poetry and acting as precedent ones: God, which came from a religious hymn; the struggle that came from the battle songs; power is the basic concept of the monarchical anthem, the people is the basic concept of the republican anthem, love (for the motherland), which came from lyrical poetry. According to the coefficient of intertextual similarity, national anthems are divided into works of integral precedence, partial precedence and fragmentary precedence. Relationships of holistic precedence are observed in the case of interdiscursive and inter-genre transposition of a poetic work, when a lyric verse or civil lyrics turn into a national anthem; and also in the case of interlingual transposition – an adequate translation from one language to another. Relations of partial precedence take place in the case of modifications of the original text, the creation of its variants, its free translations, analogues based on it, paraphrasing, imitation and citation. Fragmentary precedence in the national hymnody mainly concerns the history and culture of the native country, present here in the form of names of nationally or universally known characters, significant events and dates, reproduction of precedent phrases and verbalization of patriotic concepts.","PeriodicalId":34231,"journal":{"name":"Aktual''nye problemy filologii i pedagogicheskoi lingvistiki","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45186285","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The starting point is Charles Sanders Peirce’s understanding of symbolicity as signi-fication grounded on habits. The goal is to be able to conceptualize mediality in general and media interrelations, particularly in relation to symbolicity. Informed by a multimodal view on media, the author provides a systematic overview of symbolicity within the context of communication among human minds structured around two crossing parameters: symbols being limited or widespread among people and symbols not being part of or being part of systems – languages. Based on this overview, I clarify the role of culture in language notions and conceptualize language in relation to mediality. I also suggest a way of more precisely describing similarities and differences between languages and media types, without either conflating or totally separating the two concepts. Finally, I investigate how the dependence of language and media type conceptions on culture affects the idea of intermediality. Together, these investigations and conceptualizations promote a more comprehensive understanding of symbolicity in general and a deeper knowledge of the role of symbolicity in human communication, including verbal language, and intermedial relations involving all kinds of different media types.","PeriodicalId":34231,"journal":{"name":"Aktual''nye problemy filologii i pedagogicheskoi lingvistiki","volume":"160 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136047061","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The current study is relevant due to the complex structure of video previews, which is including both verbal and non-verbal components. The aim of the current study was to, firstly, identify verbal and non-verbal peculiarities of news previews in the Russian and English segments of the internet, and, secondly, determine some similarities and differences. The methods used included comparative method of analysis, cognitive discourse analysis. The material of the study was the previews of videos of official and unofficial news video channels of YouTube and Yandex Zen from 2020 to 2022. Political affiliation was not taken into consideration. The authors note that the more official channels have a stricter form of visual representation of the material presented. As a result, some similarities were identified, such as colour choices, showing emotions, using gestures and including elements of popular culture. As for the differences, the authors note the typical composition choices (usage of opposing images in Russian and British videos, collages in British videos), the presence of tricks or clickbait (both verbal and non-verbal) when covering the information (most characteristic of Russian previews). In conclusion, the authors highlight that further study of video previews appears to be promising.","PeriodicalId":34231,"journal":{"name":"Aktual''nye problemy filologii i pedagogicheskoi lingvistiki","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45378443","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The material of the study is precedent names used over the past 20 years in the British media (BBC, The Daily Express, The Daily Mail, The Daily Post, The Daily Record, The Daily Star, The Daily Telegraph, The Guardian, The Independent, The Mirror, The Star, The Sun, The Times, etc.). The theoretical and methodological basis of the study is the cognitive and discursive paradigm. In accordance with the goal, this study uses a method of studying precedent names derived from a source domain. Based on the analysis of practical material, it was revealed that it is the outstanding athletes of Great Britain who become role models for the British, and the corresponding British onyms become a source of precedence. The repertoire of precedent names reflects the extra-linguistic features of sports competitions that are of an agonal nature. At the same time, British precedent names from the source domain “Sport” also show cultural specificity – the leading place is occupied by onyms related to football, which is natural, given that England is considered the birthplace of this sport. This sports game occupies such an important place in the picture of the world of the British that the names of famous football players are used as standards for designating talent not only in sports, but also in other activities, which is not typical for the names of athletes from other sports. Thus, the more developed and familiar to a native speaker a certain source domain, the higher the probability of using its content as a standard for conceptualizing the current reality.","PeriodicalId":34231,"journal":{"name":"Aktual''nye problemy filologii i pedagogicheskoi lingvistiki","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46082574","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Pushkin. The relevance of the study is determined by the growing interest in understanding the nature of aesthetic semiosis, in the set of stable features of a certain genre, the conditions for their changes and demand in specific historical eras. The aim of the article is to analyze the semiotic parameters of the ironic mode that transforms the gothic tradition in A. Pushkin’s “The Queen of Spades”, but not affecting the value orientation of the protagonist. Research methods include historical, typological and comparative methods, as well as the method of philological interpretation and structural and semiotic analysis. The study identified semiotic components that mark not only the adaptation of gothic symbols and the whole genre of the gothic story in the first third of the 19th century to the tradition of Russian literature, but also the author’s intention of the inapplicability of a rational life strategy in the Russian national worldview. Transformations affect the traditional requirements for the space and time of the literary world, for the system of characters, for the motivation of their actions. At the same time, if the first two aspects appear in Pushkin in an ironic modus, largely successive to romantic irony, then the motivation for Hermann’s actions is resolved within the framework of the absolutization of the character’s value orientations: the hero’s actions are interpreted through stable values that characterize the national axiosphere. The author focuses not on the mysterious and extraordinary, but on the duality that permeates all levels of the literary world - from the motivation of the character’s actions to the explanation of the collapse of his hopes. Behind strong passions is the motivation of the actions and experiences of the hero, expressing the real nature of what is happening, which, nevertheless, does not prevent the realization of the motive of the case, which acquires the quality of an aesthetic sign in a literary text.","PeriodicalId":34231,"journal":{"name":"Aktual''nye problemy filologii i pedagogicheskoi lingvistiki","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46099693","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objectives of the study were to identify language units that represent the music semiotic space in a literary text; define their main functions; establish the symbolism of music in contemporary works of art. It is noted that the music semiotic space is closely connected with the culture of the society, it is an integral and important part of it, the basis for understanding what is happening in the semiotics of music. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the appeal to the units of music semiotic space as components of a literary text, important for the authors to translate cultural meanings, emotions, aesthetics, psychological characteristics of the heroes of the works. It was revealed that when the units of the music semiotic space perform informational and emotional functions, their semiotic significance is minimal, while their main functions in semiotic terms are aesthetic, expressive (emotional), psychological. Moreover, the image of a musical phenomenon is usually combined with a description of that strong impression (up to transformation of personality, feelings, behavior), which it has on the hero of the book. In addition, it is noted that the components of the semiotic music space actualize their symbolic, aesthetic, emotional functions when used in comparisons and metaphors, including conceptual ones. For the authors of modern works of art, it is important to depict the world as sounding, filled with music, which forms a common cultural space for the author and readers, indicates the unity of their cultural codes.","PeriodicalId":34231,"journal":{"name":"Aktual''nye problemy filologii i pedagogicheskoi lingvistiki","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44357536","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This goal is achieved by referring to modern scientific both domestic and foreign studies of metaphor, linguistic semiotics and professional discourse. The relevance of the present study is determined by the necessity to understand the essence and main semiotic features of the metaphor used in the English professional discourse. As an empirical material, a bank of metaphors (1234 units) from the Economist is used. The novelty is the fact that metaphors in professional discourse are described as special signs of the semiotic continuum, 4 semantic groups and 23 subgroups are identified and analyzed. The authors have identified that metaphors are not used only as an independent cognitive resource in business, but also as a special sign that acts as a constructive foundation for business as a whole. They conclude that the metaphorization process in professional discourse provides a special algorithm for understanding social phenomena. Moreover, the authors argue that professional metaphors should be seen as conceptual frames applied to organizations to promote understanding, generate new meanings, and enable business and economic change, considering the advantages of second level professional metaphors.","PeriodicalId":34231,"journal":{"name":"Aktual''nye problemy filologii i pedagogicheskoi lingvistiki","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45111478","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of the article is a comprehensive description of the system of deciphering stimuli of compound words of the Russian language within the framework of a synchronous approach to abbreviation. The goal is achieved by resolving the contradiction between the abbreviation pair and the abbreviation equivalence nest, the difference between which is the number of phrases corresponding to the abbreviated word. The relevance of the study is due to the actual textual practice of multiple interpretation of a compound word through several phrases, which are usually not taken into account in traditional dictionaries of abbreviations describing abbreviation pairs. Compound abbreviated words and equivalent phrases (2400 units) are used as empirical material, selected by continuous sampling from texts found in the Google.ru search engine, as well as from dictionaries of abbreviations and abbreviations. The novelty of the presented study lies in the fact that it states for the first time the existence in the language of a branched system of deciphering stimuli that perform parallel multiple deciphering of the abbreviated component of the abbreviation. The result of the study is the discovery of the mechanism of formation of the equivalent relations of the abbreviation in the equivalence nest, which is due to the synchronous action of deciphering stimuli – stereotypical decodings of the abbreviated component of the abbreviation. The authors argue that the presence of several equivalent phrases in one abbreviation is explained precisely by the existence of several deciphering stimuli in one abbreviated component. The authors pay special attention to the description of different structural types of decoding stimuli and the system of their meanings.","PeriodicalId":34231,"journal":{"name":"Aktual''nye problemy filologii i pedagogicheskoi lingvistiki","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48447241","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The material of the study was five videos with public speeches in English, posted on the websites of the European Parliament. These videos are complexly organized products of multimodal interaction between the addresser and the addressee, the specificity of multimodality here consists in the simultaneous use of different nature manifestations in the same audio-visual space from the standpoint of semiotics with the help of various sensory modalities. The article deals with verbal and non-verbal (visual and prosodic) means of manipulation in political discourse. Most often in these European public speeches, there are such verbal means of manipulation as repetitions, sabotage against logic (they are also false analogies), emotional cathexis, the enemy image; less commonly expressive strike, everyday story and reorientation of attention are used. Repetitions are most often directly or indirectly conveying an emotional assessment of language units. The reorientation of attention is used by attracting the attention of recipients by some bright or unusual facts. The active use of non-verbal means of psychological manipulation (intonation, gestures, facial expressions) indicates a manifestation of aggression rather than creating an impression of friendliness and cooperation. The general strategy of presenting information in these videos is characterized by attracting the recipient attention with capacious “bait” phrases that cause a direct emotional response.","PeriodicalId":34231,"journal":{"name":"Aktual''nye problemy filologii i pedagogicheskoi lingvistiki","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44465282","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
