This study aimed to identify the classes of chemical compounds present in moringa leaf juice and evaluate its antioxidant activity, hedonic test and storage stability. Method: Three different moringa juice formulations were prepared using variations of fresh leaf powder and evaluated for color, taste, aroma, phytochemical content (to confirm the presence of alkaloids flavonoids, saponins, and tannins), antioxidant activity, and storage stability. The optimal formulation was selected based on a panel of experts’ sensory evaluation. Result: The optimal moringa juice formulation consisted of 120 g of fresh moringa leaves, 50 mL of wild honey, 50 g of local guava, 800 mL of UHT milk, and 200 mL of purified water. Phytochemical testing revealed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, and tannins in the moringa leaf juice. The antioxidant activity was 14,339,974 ppm, indicating that moringa leaf juice is a potent antioxidant. The moringa juice remained stable at room temperature for 6 hours and in cold storage for 24 hours, maintaining the same taste and color as when initially prepared. Conclusion: Moringa leaf juice is a natural beverage with high antioxidant activity and a rich phytochemical profile, including alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, and tannins. The good storage stability of moringa leaf juice at room temperature and in cold storage suggests that it is a viable option as an antioxidant beverage.","PeriodicalId":338971,"journal":{"name":"Proceeding International Conference Health Polytechnic of Jambi","volume":"17 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139201994","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Pulmonary TB is a chronic caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M.TB). Most TB bacteria are often found infecting the lung parenchyma. Infection due to pulmonary TB disease causes an active immune system in the body which is characterized by an increase in the number of neutrophils (neutrophilia). This infection also causes a decrease in the number of lymphocytes (lymphocytopenia). This study aims to determine the picture of NLR examination results based on the length of treatment undertaken by pulmonary TB patients in Jambi City. Method: The study used descriptive methods with convinience sampling technique. The samples of this study were 40 Pulmonary TB patients from several health centers in Jambi City including the Simpang IV sipin health center, Pakuan baru, Simpang kawat, Rawasari, and Putri ayu. NLR examination in blood was carried out in February-June 2023 at the Hematology Laboratory, majoring in Medical Laboratory Technology using a Hematology analyzer. Result: The results showed the average number of NLR in pulmonary TB patients with a treatment duration of ≤ 2 months, which is 3.68 and in patients with a treatment duration of > 2 months the average was 2.41, p value = 0.023. Conclusion: it can be concluded that the average number of NLR was greatest in pulmonary TB patients with treatment duration ≤ 2 months.","PeriodicalId":338971,"journal":{"name":"Proceeding International Conference Health Polytechnic of Jambi","volume":"60 7","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139205933","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The total number of lymphocytes is one of the parameters used as an initial screening to assess the cellular immune response in people with HIV. One of the causes of the decrease in the total number of lymphocytes is the presence of the effect of taking antiretrovirals (ARVs) Method: The research design is quantitative research with a cross sectional approach. The data in this study used 39 samples of HIV patients who received ARV therapy for more than 6 months in the form of the total number of lymphocytes and viral load at the Putri Ayu Health Center. Patients with HIV were selected according to inclusion and exclusion criteria and then the data were analyzed univariately and bivariately with chi-square tests. Result: Most respondents had a normal total lymphocyte count of 26 people (66.7%) and most respondents had an undetectable viral load of 26 people (66.7%). Based on the Statistical Test Results, a p-value of 0.000 (p, <0.005) was obtained. Previous studies have highlighted the antibacterial effects of Cinnamomum burmannii leaves from Indonesia, including their potential as antibacterial agents. The study aimed to evaluate the antibacterial effect of Cinnamomum burmanii leaf essential oil in toothpaste formulation against Streptococcus mutans Method: This quasi-experimental study compared the antibacterial effectiveness of toothpaste containing essential oil with Streptococcus mutans cultures in Brain-heart Infusion Broth (BHIB) overnight. Six wells were created on agar plates using sterile 6 mm punches. Each well was filled with the following: Positive control (Chlorhexidine), pure essential oil, 100% essential oil toothpaste, 75% diluted essential oil toothpaste, 50% diluted essential oil toothpaste, and negative control (aquadest). The diameter of inhibition zones was measured after incubating all plates at 36°C for 24 hours. Result: The inhibition zone diameter was measured to evaluate the effectiveness of essential oil toothpaste against dental plaque bacteria. Non-parametric Kruskal-Wallis statistical analysis revealed no significant difference in the diameter produced between Cinnamomum zeylanicum leaf essential oil and the positive control minosep (p=0.10). However, after formulation into toothpaste, a significant decrease in effectiveness was observed (p=0.015). Conclusion: It can be concluded that cinnamon leaf essential oil is effective in inhibiting the growth of Streptococcus mutans bacteria. However, when formulated into toothpaste, its effectiveness decreases with lower concentrations of the toothpaste dilution.","PeriodicalId":338971,"journal":{"name":"Proceeding International Conference Health Polytechnic of Jambi","volume":"29 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139206385","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
