The participants are those who are involved in the interaction of haggling both in the TV shows. The instruments used for data collection in this qualitative study of sociopragmatics are video camera, television and computer. The data were collected through the video camera that was used to record the TV shows in the television and then the recorded TV shows in the video camera were transferred to the computer to be transcribed and analyzed. From the data analysis it is found out that buyers and customers often employ similar haggling strategies in some respects and distinctly different tactics in many other respects. Such strategies include humor, power, pleas and honorific tags. This study employed a qualitative methodology. Senior high school students who have taken the UTBK test were the subjects of this study. This research was conducted in SMAS Pangeran Antasari Medan, in class XII IPA, there are 32 students in it. According to the study's findings, high school students' lack of interest in reading made them bored when reading the text in front of them. It was also difficult for them to decipher the meaning of the text because they lacked the necessary vocabulary and didn't practice answering questions about reading comprehension. As a result, they believed that the UTBK test was too difficult for them. So this research, senior high school students must increase their practice of reading comprehension questions both at home and in class, as well as their interest in reading and vocabulary, to overcome these challenges. This will make it simpler for them to solve problems in the reading comprehension section. \u0000Keywords: reading comprehension, UTBK","PeriodicalId":33052,"journal":{"name":"Linguistic English Education and Art LEEA Journal","volume":"30 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83321268","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The series of assessment rubrics will help make it easier for educators to find out students' weaknesses in language and for students to deepen the knowledge they feel is lacking. Students that have this competence are those who can manage or direct their own learning experience both within and without the classroom. Since the existing study found a positive linkage between the concept and success in language learning, particularly listening, it is critical to be conscious of metacognitive knowledge in listening comprehension. Thus, the current study aims to investigate the metacognitive knowledge of EFL undergraduate students in Lubuklinggau, South Sumatera, based on their listening abilities. This study divides metacognitive information into three categories: knowledge of self, learning techniques, and learning task needs.To elicit the research data, there were three types of data collection tools, namely questionnaire, test and semi-structured interview and this study used quantitative and qualitative methods based on a case study approach. The research findings indicated that students who have high listening abilities are better in metacognitive knowledge compared those who have middle and low listening abilities. Then, those students also were able to benefit effective learning strategies, particularly metacognitive strategies, in improving their listening abilities in and outside the classroom. Therefore, the students’ metacognitive knowledge has a potential role in helping them to become successful language learners. \u0000Keywords: Metacognitive knowledge; EFL listening abilities","PeriodicalId":33052,"journal":{"name":"Linguistic English Education and Art LEEA Journal","volume":"40 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80625003","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
