This research was designed by applying descriptive methods with quantitative approaches. The study participants were 149 students and four teachers from MAN 1 Makassar. They were chosen by random cluster technique. The data were obtained through questionnaires, interviews, and observation. The result of the findings showed that the ideal teachers' personalities as perceived by students are friendly (93.95%), followed by sincere (93.29%), polite (93.28%), patient (92, 62%), good teaching skill/ability (91,95%), organized (89,27%), care/ empathetic (83,89%), cheerful (83,21%), creative (81,88%) and attractive (81,21%), patient (75%), and cheerful (75%). The findings also show that most students who learn English are motivated by the ideal teachers' personalities. Students tend to be more motivated in learning if teachers have positive behavior and characteristics such as being friendly, organized, cheerful, creative, patient, and having good teaching skills/abilities. This research showed that teachers with good personalities would quickly build relationships with students to improve their motivation to learn. The findings also showed a significant correlation between teachers' personalities and students' motivation to learn English.

Literature study and text analysis methods were carried out to elaborate on the relationship between language and philosophy, the thoughts and focus of the philosophy of language, as well as the implications of the philosophy of language for contemporary linguistics research. There are four stages of activity in this research, namely (1) preparing the tools needed; (2) preparing a working bibliography; (3) arranging working time; and (4) reading and taking notes on research materials. The data collected is information and facts from various scientific works on the contemporary philosophy of language & linguistics. The data analysis phase was carried out when recording the information and facts and grouping them based on the problem unit under study and its contents. After that, data verification was carried out by testing the validity of the source of information and the content in the text. It was found that philosophy is closely related to language, which is the result of human cognition and has a function to convey the results of this cognition, and that contemporary philosophy argues that language is closely related to reality and has its own form, rules and uniqueness and states that meaning in language has forms, structure, and substance as well as empirical characteristics. This thinking influences the search for meaning in language and determines research trends on language, including research on the meaning of language in discourse, in names, and in natural speech. These studies consider aspects of form, substance, and also meaning in language. Research on meaning is needed to answer problems about language in this digital era.

The learning strategies studied are mostly seen from onsite and online learning, which recently occurred due to the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic. However, only a few studies have discussed teachers' teaching and assessment strategies after learning are carried back to onsite learning. Therefore, this study aims to 1) observe teaching strategies in English classes during reconducted onsite learning and 2) observe assessment strategies in English classes during reconducted onsite learning. This research used qualitative research methods through classroom observation and interviews to obtain data from two high school English teachers in Buleleng, Bali. The results showed that the teacher used nine teaching strategies in the reconduct onsite learning process, including brainstorming, discussion, lecturing, independent study, assignments, quizzes or exercises, presentations, and summarizing. In addition, the teacher's assessment strategies during this transitional period are observation, assignments, and quizzes or tests. From this research, it can be concluded that teachers use various learning strategies, even though they have re-adapted to onsite learning. The author applied pre- and post-test control groups alone for its quasi-experimental design. The researcher used a multi-stage sampling technique to select the research sample. The stage consist of three steps namely: (1) determining population; (2) placement of the sampling area using the statistical matching technique proposed by Fraenkel, J.R., Wallen, N.E., and Hyun, H.H. (2012); and (3) selection of the control and experimental groups via lottery. Students in the 5A grade from SD N 1 Seririt served as the control group and fifth-graders from SD N 1 Kubutambahan served as the experimental group for the sample. The research instruments featured teaching scenarios for the control and experimental groups as well as literacy competency exams with pre- and post-test questions. The pre-test was administered before of treatment, and the post-test was done afterwards. Three treatment sessions were provided to each group using three different treatment lesson materials namely: daily activities, my school, and clothes. The acquired data were quantitatively examined using N-Gain score test analysis, inferential statistics, and descriptive statistics. Based on the findings of the N-Gain Score test computation and the descriptive analysis, the experimental group's mean N-Gain score was 70.5453%, whereas the control group's mean N-Gain score was 67.9676%. The use of multilingual thematic printed dictionaries in the control group and multilingual thematic digital dictionaries in the experimental group shared the same effect, particularly regarding that they were \"moderately effective \" to enhance the literacy skills of class students, according to the results of the N-Gain score test, which showed that the experimental group's average score was 70.5% and the control group's average was 68%.
