Стевановић","doi":"10.46630/phm.15.2023.46","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.46630/phm.15.2023.46","url":null,"abstract":"In der vorliegenden Arbeit werden die Herausforderungen bei der Erstellung und Veröffentlichung einer literarischen Übersetzung am Beispiel der Rubrik Jezički Vavilon (Das sprachliche Babylon) der elektronischen Zeitschrift „Bez limita” („Ohne Limit”) dargestellt. Am Anfang dieser Arbeit stellt der Autor die elektronische Zeitschrift der Philosophischen Fakultät in Niš „Bez limita” („Ohne Limit”), ihre Organisation und Funktionsweise dar. Ein großer Teil der Arbeit ist der Diskussion über die folgenden Punkte gewidmet: Bedeutung vom literarischen Übersetzen in der Gesellschaft, die Persönlichkeit eines Übersetzers, die allgemeinen Herausforderungen vom literarischen Übersetzen und die Herausforderungen bei der Veröffentlichung einer literarischen Übersetzung in einer elektronischen Zeitschrift. Der Autor der Arbeit illustriert seine Behauptungen mit den Beispielen aus der Rubrik Jezički Vavilon (Das sprachliche Babylon) und dabei versucht, die Komplexität des Prozesses darzustellen, der damit beginnt, dass der Übersetzer seine Arbeit an die Email-Adresse der Zeitschrift sendet und mit der Veröffentlichung des Beitrags auf der Internetseite der Zeitschrift endet. Figar","doi":"10.46630/phm.15.2023.27","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.46630/phm.15.2023.27","url":null,"abstract":"Through a combined quantitative-qualitative approach the paper aims to explore the densities and possible rhetorical effects of the most common metaphorical framings used in the New York Times online press reports about ChatGPT. The theoretical framework is based on the main tenets of conceptual metaphor theory (Lakoff and Johnson 2003[1980]), frame semantics (Fillmore 1982), and image schema theory (Johnson 1987). The initial stage involved the construction of a small specialized corpus which was tagged manually for the analysis in WordSmith Tools 6.0. Metaphor identification was conducted in line with MIPVU (STEEN et al. 2010). Quantitative analysis showed the highest density for containment, motion, and force metaphors. Living being, tool, conflict, and machine metaphors were also present, but not as frequent. The linear regression model (motion, force, living being) explained 61% of variance in the density of containment metaphors, and it was significant (p=.002). Additional linear regression models have also been tested. The results suggest the potential for interaction of these metaphor groups when they cooccur in discourse (i.e., they may work in concert to construct a specific viewpoint). Qualitative analysis showed a range of possible rhetorical effects that the identified metaphorical framings may play (e.g., making AI more appealing by framing it as a living being or tool, raising doubts about the use of AI by constructing borders and containers, or framing AI as a threat). Josijević","doi":"10.46630/phm.15.2023.28","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.46630/phm.15.2023.28","url":null,"abstract":"The system of comparative and superlative formation in English relies on both synthetic (i.e. inflectional) and analytic (i.e. periphrastic) means. Numerous studies have aimed at analyzing the impact of the final -y in choosing a comparison strategy. Their main focus is on testing the potential impact of a wide repertoire of the linguistic factors that were assumed to be relevant in making such choices, but their samples were relatively limited in terms of specific groups of adjectives, such as those ending in -y. (e.g. LEECH, CULPEPER 1997; LINDQUIST 2000; MONDORF 2009; GONZALEZ-DIAZ 2009). About 20 to 30 adjectives were subjected to the various analyses, leaving most members bearing this feature excluded. This paper aims at revisiting comparative formation strategies in disyllabic adjectives ending in // and does so by analyzing the prevalence of both comparison strategies in 277 different lexemes. Drawing on techniques familiar from quantitative morphological typology (GREENBERG 1960; SZMRECSANYI 2012, 2016), the analysis uses syntheticity and analyticity indices as the main indicators of frequency of both free (more) and bound (-er) comparative morphemes. The quantitative data are retrieved from Corpus of Contemporary American English. The results demonstrate that disyllabic adjectives ending in /ɪ/ are not a uniform class. Биланџија","doi":"10.46630/phm.15.2023.15","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.46630/phm.15.2023.15","url":null,"abstract":"This paper deals with address and forms of address in five selected comedies of the prominent Dano-Norwegian playwright Ludvig Holberg (1684-1754). The primary aim of the paper is to establish and describe the inventory of forms of address, i.e., the linguistic expressions a language can use to address the counterpart. The author then goes on to describe pronominal, nominal, and verbal forms Holberg used in his comedies, establishing the heterogeneity of the so-called V-forms, especially in contrast to modern language use. The author then describes and analyzes the nominal forms of address according to 9 groups, showing that some of the markers are lexically obsolete today, but that others are obsolete due to changes in social structure and culture, with forms of address being inseparable from other forms of cultural communication. The paper analyzes the factors that contribute to symmetry or asymmetry in communication, such as gender, age, social rank, and title (an important factor in a period when social standing was a more pervasive factor than in modern society), as well as context in which given address takes place.
