They require two signals in order to be activated: antigen presentation via TCR, and costimulatory interaction with different surface molecules of the B7 family, which may either enhance or attenuate immune response. In several cancers these molecules are deregulated, thereby promoting immune escape and the settlement or migration of cancer cells. In multiple myeloma, the expression of B7 co-inhibitory molecules and their relationship to disease progression have been identified. The MM1.R cell line is a useful cellular model for studying the progression of this disease, and therefore an analysis of the pattern of expression in this cell line helps to cast light on the immune status of this disease. Using a real-time PCR (quantitative RT-PCR) assay, we found that the main molecules expressed were those with an inhibitory function (B7-H1, B7-H3 and B7-H4), which suggests a high level of immune inhibition by these cells.</p></div>","PeriodicalId":31559,"journal":{"name":"Revista Medica del Hospital General de Mexico","volume":"81 4","pages":"Pages 197-202"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1016/j.hgmx.2016.08.005","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"54295454","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The majority of them are unilateral and diagnosed at stage I. We report the case of an 11-year-old girl with an abdominal mass and virilisation; left salpingo-oophorectomy was performed and an ovarian SLCT of intermediate differentiation was diagnosed. Twenty nine months later, a new abdominal mass was discovered; a salpingo-oophorectomy was performed and a second SLCT, poorly differentiated, was diagnosed. These tumours represent a rare entity in adolescents and girls, and the bilateral and metachronic presentation makes it exceptional. The methodology is the analysis of selected and representative cases of the total costs over the project routes, incurred by an R&D Center of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), during the processes performed to obtain patents for some academic inventions. The findings are that the costs that were incurred to obtain two national patents were quite significant, but much more in the case of patent applications abroad, either by direct application or through the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT).</p><p>We also found that the process time takes an average of three to six years, depending on the type of patent application.
