Teacher’s self-directed professional development can give full play to the main role of teachers in professional development. In recent years, more and more voices have emphasized the effectiveness of self-directed learning theory for teachers’ professional development, but very little literature has presented the specific process of teachers’ self-directed professional development. This paper uses a self-narrative research method to present the specific process of the author’s year-long self-directed learning, revealing the dilemmas and challenges of teachers’ self-directed learning, as well as the growth trajectory of actively seeking countermeasures to solve real-world problems and thus improve her research capacity. This paper has also put forward the dynamic developmental model of self-directed learning.","PeriodicalId":314716,"journal":{"name":"Frontiers in Educational Research","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127711987","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, challenges and difficulties tend to arise when Chinese college English teachers accept TBLT as an innovation in curriculum. Therefore, this paper attempts to conduct a small case study in one Chinese regular university to explore English teachers’ beliefs, attitudes and challenges towards TBLT. The data were collected through class observation and semi-structured interviews. Study findings showed that participants have a clear understanding of TBLT concepts. However, they displayed both similar and different views towards problems and solutions in TBLT class. Based on the findings, some pedagogical suggestions have been offered which can provide some insights into the effective design and implementations of TBLT in Chinese context.","PeriodicalId":314716,"journal":{"name":"Frontiers in Educational Research","volume":"89 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130861906","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are many drawbacks in these aspects, which have a restrictive effect on the cultivation of innovative talents. The course \"International Trade\" is an important professional basic course for majors in international trade, business administration, finance, etc. It has strong logic and relatively boring theoretical knowledge. At the same time, this course is very comprehensive because it has a certain degree of overlap with other economics and management disciplines. So students must organically combine the knowledge they have learned with practice in order to master the ability to participate in international trade activities. From this point of view, the \"International Trade\" curriculum must undergo substantial and effective reforms.","PeriodicalId":314716,"journal":{"name":"Frontiers in Educational Research","volume":"112 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127993860","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A questionnaire was used to examine students’ preference between face-to-face (F2F) and distance interpreting classes among interpreting students in Beijing International Studies University, and the correlating factors contributing to their preference. The results showed that the majority of students favored F2F classes as a more effective format for interpreting training. Several variables, including the online delivery system, learning environment, and in-class exercises could affect learning effects of distance classes. This study suggested that with a professional delivery system, soundproof learning environment, and more in-class exercises, better learning effects could be achieved. Results derived from this study provided the guidelines for the further improvement in the practice of distance interpreting training.","PeriodicalId":314716,"journal":{"name":"Frontiers in Educational Research","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131229689","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
