Hence, the rapidly changing environment encourages the governments, universities, lecturers, and students to adapt the new learning system. Since the learning process is done online, the learning media should be based on online-digital media. Research has consistently shown that one of the most important factors contributing to a student's success is the quality of teaching he or she receives. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to identify the perception of students towards the use of online-digital media in learning English during Covid-19. The research used descriptive-qualitative method that involved 114 students from IAIN Metro and 104 from State Polytechnic of Sriwijaya. A set of questionnaire used to determine the perception of students towards digital media, focussing on the application or any online platforms commonly used and the most effective online media in the English learning. The result of the research shows that there were several online digital media or application/platform which frequently used in delivering the learning materials or assignments. In addition, the most effective online digital media in English learning is game-based digital media. The research also shows that although English learning was conducted online, it did not reduce the effectiveness of the learning process.","PeriodicalId":312912,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Learning Innovation and Quality Education","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130105766","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Reading literacy is one of the skills that must be possessed to be able to process information well, unfortunately Indonesian students' reading literacy always gets a score below the average. This research was conducted to analyze the causes and types of reading literacy questions that are difficult for students, using mixed methods research, with the Sequential Explanatory Design model. The research subjects were 100 high schools’ students in class X. The study found that students who got high scores during the trial on average had reading habits from an early age, had a lot of books, spent an average of 5 days a week reading with a duration of more than 1 hour, the types of books read by students who get high scores are more diverse and meaningful than other students. From this research, it can be concluded that students’ ability to work on PISA questions is influenced by their reading habits at an early age, the number of books they have, the average time spent reading in a week, the length of time it takes to complete a book, and the type of reading read.","PeriodicalId":312912,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Learning Innovation and Quality Education","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125221506","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This online learning requires teachers to effectively convey material from various subject matters, primarily material with experimental characteristics, such as natural science. For this reason, this study aims to analyze the online natural science learning implementation in elementary schools in Central Java Province during the COVID-19 pandemic. This exploratory study research used a qualitative descriptive approach, and the data were collected through a questionnaire. Respondents involved were teachers from grades 1 to 6, totaling 50 teachers from 15 regencies in Central Java who taught natural science learning in elementary schools. The data collection method in this study was in the form of a multiple-choice questionnaire, distributed by purposive sampling via a google form. Data analysis was then carried out with interactive analysis. The results revealed that scientific attitude was a supporting factor for students in mastering process skills efficiently. However, the study results also uncovered that the mastery of scientific attitudes in elementary school students was still low. It was due to several things: the use of text media more dominant than the natural environment as a process of seeking knowledge, low student motivation, broad material but limited teaching time, and the use of learning models that had not been able to adapt to the material characteristics and student needs.","PeriodicalId":312912,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Learning Innovation and Quality Education","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125522267","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Art plays a role in constructing taste, processing sensitivity, and becoming a means of self-expression. This can be the key to student success in various ways, including academic improvement. The pandemic era makes art learning done online seem conventional and less interactive. In the new normal era, teachers' strategy of inculcating moral values through art is expected to be well accepted and applied by students. This study discusses the application of art learning through games to encourage students to be more active in learning. The art learning method implemented in this study combines various art performances using the national song Bangun Pemudi Pemuda with collaborative methods (singing, drama, and games). This method was chosen to form connectivity between teachers and students, students and students, and elements of art that blend without any barriers. The type of collaborative performance used aims to test musical understanding and instill character values through the song Bangun Pemudi Pemuda.
