Low consumption of iron is one of the cause of anemia prevalences among pregnant women. Iron intake can be gained from iron tablet. However the iron tablet consumption still very low. The purpose of this study was to obtain the role of family and posyandu kadre support to the compliance of iron tablet consumption among anemic pregnant women and its relation to haemoglobin levels of anemic pregnant women. The research design was quasi experimental Anemic pregnant women as a sample respondens were divided into two groups, 29 in the intervention group and 32 in the control group. The study was conducted at Cibungbulang and Pamijahan sub district, Bogor. Compliance measurements using MMAS - 8 (Morisky Medication Adherence Scale - 8) questionnaires. Compliance of iron tablet consumption categorized by low, middle and high. The intervention was counseling about anemia and how important iron tablet consumption among pregnant women to their family (husband/parents/in-laws/other close relatives) or posyandu cadre whose lived in the same house or as their neighbour. Data analysis was performed using Chi - square and different t-test. The results showed that the anemic pregnant women with support from their family and posyandu cadre improve their compliance of iron tablet (p< 0,05). Keywords: anemia, iron tablet, family and posyandu cadre support, compliance ABSTRAK Anemia memberikan kontribusi hingga 20 persen terhadap semua kematian pada kehamilan. Salah satu penyebab tingginya prevalensi anemia adalah rendahnya asupan zat besi. Salah satu sumber asupan zat besi berasal dari tablet tambah darah (TTD), namun kepatuhan mengonsumsinya masih sangat rendah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendapatkan pengaruh peran pendamping terhadap kepatuhan konsumsi TTD dan hubungannya dengan kadar hemoglobin (Hb) ibu hamil anemia. Desain penelitian adalah kuasi eksperimen. Responden adalah ibu hamil anemia, yang dibagi menjadi 2 kelompok, yaitu 29 pada kelompok intervensi dan 32 pada kelompok kontrol. Penelitian dilakukan di Kecamatan Cibungbulang dan Pamijahan Kabupaten Bogor. Pengukuran kepatuhan menggunakan kuesioner MMAS-8 (Morisky Medication Adherence Scale). Intervensi berupa penyuluhan tentang anemia pada pendamping dan pentingnya konsumsi TTD pada keluarga (suami/orang tua/mertua/kader/keluarga dekat lainnya) yang tinggal serumah atau berdekatan. Kepatuhan konsumsi TTD dikategorikan menjadi rendah, sedang dan tinggi. Analisis data menggunakan uji Chi-square dan uji beda t. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh pemberian penyuluhan pada ibu hamil dengan anemia dapat meningkatkan kepatuhan minum tablet tambah darah (p<0,05). Muchtadi","doi":"10.22435/pgm.v37i1.4010.69-76","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.22435/pgm.v37i1.4010.69-76","url":null,"abstract":"ABSTRACT Issues of different effects of carbonated soft drinks to human health have been circulated and analyzed in both scientific and non-scientific approaches. However, there is few publications discussing the specific effect of carbonation on human health and, more often than not, studies have largely concentrated on the effect of sugar or calorie content in carbonated beverages in affecting our health. Thus the effect of carbonation itself on human health is then lost in arguments contradicting or reaffirming the effect of carbonated soft drinks. We conducted this systematic review to specifically observe current findings on the effect of carbonation in beverages on human health. This systematic review was conducted using Scirus search engine to list articles relevant with keywords such as CO2, carbonated beverage, carbonation, sparkling water, gastrointestinal, gastro-esophageal and adenocarcinoma. Next, articles were obtained from numerous databases and screened for their relevance and context. Finally, peer reading and discussion were conducted for the writing of this article. The results of this systematic review observed three major article subjects currently correlated with exclusive effect of carbonation on gastrointestinal health. Published studies indicate that oral cavity/dental health, gastro-esophageal reflux and most recently esophageal adenocarcinoma are discussed frequently and observed in population studies in different countries consuming significant quantities of carbonated beverages. Eight articles (40%) discussed dominant factors not correlated with carbonation which significantly affect dental erosions. Six (33%) articles observed no clear clinical significance carbonation promotes or exacerbate gastro-esophageal reflux. Interestingly, five (27%) articles reported insignificant correlation, even inversed, of carbonation on esophageal carcinoma.Currently available scientific studies on populations in multiple countries show that the effect of carbonation in beverages has non-significant (statistically) effect on the health of the gastrointestinal tract. To study the socio-economic status of households using iodized salt and thyrotropin hormone level in urban areas. Riskesdas data 2007 that include 280.000 households was used.Thyrotropin hormone data include 9.457 people aged above 1 years. Variables included classification of village, rapid test on salt, education and occupation of households’ head, household expenditure and level of thyrotropin hormone. Around 80 percentof households where households’ head graduated from college/university used salt containing sufficient iodine. Only 18 percent households with households’ headworks as government workers used salt containing sufficient iodine. Around 70 percent households in 5 th quintile of household’s expenditure were using salt with sufficient iodine content. Around 70 percent households in urban areas were using salt withsufficient iodine content.Among children 1-4 years, percentage of low category of thyrotropin hormon level was 3.3 percentand among 60 years of age and above was 15.8 percent. The higher the educational levelthe higher the percentage of households used salt with sufficient iodine. Percentage of households using salt with sufficient iodine was higher in urban than in rural areas. The higher the quintiles of household expenditures the higher the percentage of households using salt with sufficient iodine. There was a trend that the higher the age the higher the percentage of low category of thyrotropin hormone level . Sementara itu, kadar thyroid stimulating hormone (hormon tirotropin) dapat digunakan sebagai indikator kecukupan asupan iodium. Meneliti status sosial-ekonomi rumah-tangga yang menggunakan garam beriodium dan kadar hormon tirotropin di perkotaan.  Data yang digunakan untuk artikel ini adalah data Riskesdas 2007 yang mencakup 280.000 rumah-tangga. Data hormon tirotropin mencakup 9.457 individu umur 1 tahun keatas. Variabel yang digunakan untuk makalah ini meliputi klasifikasi desa, tes cepat pada garam, pendidikan dan pekerjaan kepala keluarga (KK), kadar hormon tirotropin. Sekitar 80 persen rumah-tangga,dimana KK tamat perguruan tinggi, menggunakan garam mengandung cukup iodium. Th e education can be given through playing patterns suitable for age 2-6 years. Currently there is no active nutrition education media for ECD participant s. Therefore it is necessary to develop an active media of nutrition education through colouring book . C olouring activitities can stimulate both the cognitive and motor development of children. This study aimed to develop a colouring book as a nutrition education media for ECD participants and assess the acceptance of the media. This research is a formative study using qualitative design. The sample in this study was children aged 2-6 years, their parents, and teachers from four selected ECD in the city and district of Bogor. The research was conducted in 2 st ep s. The first s t e p was baseline data collection through observations, group interviews and in-depth interviews to the children, the parents, and the teachers of ECD. Based on the baseline data, the nutrition education materials was prepared and the colouring book was designed . The second st ep was the assessment of the acceptance and the application of educational media by observing the use of educational media while teachers provide d the material in the ECD classroom and the use of colouring books by ECD participants. A group interview was also conducted to see the teacher’s response of the nutrition education media through colouring books , and to find qualitative change in nutrition knowledge of ECD participants. Education materials through colouring books were made in two versions. First version is the books purposed for group A of ECD (< 4 years) and second version is for group B of ECD (4-6 years). A fter the teacher provided the nutrition education materials , nutritional knowledge of ECD participants was better than before . In addition, the media play as an atractive teaching material that stimulated child ren’ s interest. Colouring books can be used as an educational media to increase nutrition knowledge of the children . Sari, Dwi Anggraini Puspitasari","doi":"10.22435/PGM.V36I1.3394.44-53","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.22435/PGM.V36I1.3394.44-53","url":null,"abstract":"ABSTRACT Overweight or obesity is considered as one of the health problems for adults, children and also as earlier as toddler.  Being overweight for children at early age most likely would make them remain the same through their adolescents and adults years.  Overweight in children is caused by several interrelated factors, such as: unhealthy eating pattern as the habit in consuming food with high fats and calories, and lack of physical activities . The objective of this research was t o find out the nutrient intake such as energy, carbohydrate, protein, fat and cholesterol of 4-6 years old children with excess weight , and their energy expends in one day. The research was conducted in three kindergartens at Bogor city. The inclusion criteria s of the samples were 4-6 years old students with body weight according to height > 2 SD. Data is collected by anthropometry measurement , 1x24 hours food recall , and 1x24 hours activity recall. T he average weight of the students was 26,85 kg. The average energy , carbohydrate, protein, fat and cholesterol intakes were 2019 kkal, 229 g, 61 g, 78 g and 457.4 mg respectively . The high intake of cholesterol was acquire d from consumption of 3 eggs /day, and from three times consumption of full cream milk/day at the minimum . Total energy expenditure wa s 1214 kkal/day or there were 805 excess calories/ day. All subjects in this study ha d physical activity in mild category. The average intake of energy, protein, fat and dietary cholesterol exceed ed 100 percent of the Recommended Dietary Allowances. In the long term it w ould lead to an increase of body weight that could eventually lead to obesity . Keywords : excess nutrition, nutrient intake, total energy expenditure ABSTRAK Kegemukan atau obesitas menjadi salah satu masalah kesehatan  bagi orang dewasa dan anak-anak, bahkan sejak usia balita. Jika kegemukan terjadi pada usia dini kemungkinan besar kegemukan akan menetap sampai dewasa. Obesitas pada anak-anak disebabkan oleh berbagai faktor yang saling berkaitan, di antaranya  kebiasaan mengonsumsi makanan tinggi lemak dan karbohidrat,  dan kurangnya aktifitas fisik. Tujuan dari penelitia adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran konsumsi zat gizi (energi, karbohidrat, protein, lemak dan kolesterol) pada anak usia 4-6 tahun dengan berat badan lebih serta pengeluaran energi sehari. Penelitian dilakukan di tiga Taman Kanak-Kanak di Kota Bogor. Kriteria inklusi sampel yaitu anak TK usia 4-6 tahun dengan berat badan/tinggi badan (BB/TB) ≥ 2 SD. Data diperoreh melalui pengukuran antropometri, recall makanan 1x24 jam dan recall aktifitas 1x24 jam. Rata-rata berat badan anak 26,85 kg.  Rata-rata asupan energi sebesar 2019 kkal,  karbohidrat 229 g, protein 61 g, lemak 78 g dan kolesterol 457 mg. Various processing of catfish oil will change both the composition and physico-chemical c haracteristics . The objective of this study wa s to identify the composition of fatty acids and physico-chemical characteristics of both catfish oil (MIL) and fermented catfish oil (MILT) . Results showed that fatty acid composition of catfish oil wa s MUFA (36 .12 %)> PUFA> (32 .43 %)> SFA (31 .45 %), while the composition of fermented catfish oil wa s MUFA (4 2.96 %)> SFA (4 2.32 %)> PUFA (1 5.39 %). The fermentation process with lactic acid bacteria increase d the content of stearic acid but decreased the content of linoleic acid and linolenic acid . Physical and chemical characteristics of MIL and MILT wer e almost similar , they indicate d oxidation process , based on melting point, viscosity , and thiobarbituric acid values . Therefore , in the production of catfish oil or fermented cat fish oil, it is necessary to add spice s and/or nutrient as antioxidants source s . Keywords : catfish oil, PUFA, MUFA, SFA and CLA ABSTRAK Minyak ikan lele (MIL) dan minyak ikan lele terfermentasi (MILT) sebagai produk turunan dari ikan lele masih belum banyak dikembangkan dan diproduksi secara komersial. Berbagai proses pengolahan minyak dapat mengubah komposisi dan karakteristik fisiko-kimia minyak ikan lele. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi komposisi asam lemak dan karakteristik fisiko-kimia dari minyak ikan lele (MIL) dan minyak ikan lele terfermentasi (MILT). Komposisi asam lemak pada MIL secara berurutan adalah MUFA (36,12%) > PUFA (32,43%) > SFA (31,45%), sedangkan setelah difermentasi menjadi MILT terjadi perubahan yaitu MUFA (42,96%) > SFA (42,32%) > PUFA (15,39%). Jenis asam lemak jenuh yang mengalami peningkatan  pada MILT adalah asam lemak stearat, sedangkan asam lemak tidak jenuh ganda yang mengalami penurunan adalah asam linoleat dan linolenat yang menyebabkan kadar asam arakidonat dan CLA meningkat. Karakteristik fisiko-kimia MIL dan MILT hampir sama yaitu menunjukkan terjadinya proses oksidasi yang didasarkan pada nilai viskositas, titik cair, dan bilangan TBA. Oleh karena itu, untuk mengurangi proses oksidasi lemak, didalam pengolahan kedua minyak ini perlu ditambahkan bumbu atau zat gizi kaya antioksidan. The results from population studies indicate, Tg appears to be a valuable indicator of thyroid status, but it has yet to be fully explored. This study aimed to measure the association between serum Tg with TSH and fT4 as alternatif indicators thyroid status in school-aged children. This was a cross-sectional study of sample of 398 schoolchildren aged 10-12 years in three districts with different iodine-deficiency endemicity level, i.e. Pati as a mild endemic district, Purbalingga as a moderate endemic district, and Malang as a severe endemic district. Children’s blood have taken 3 cc as a sample for the determination of Tg, TSH, and fT4. Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) was used to determine Tg, TSH and fT4. Mean of serum Tg 14.3 ± 11.1 ng/mL (cut-off 2-50 ng/mL), TSH 3.7 ± 2.2 µIU/mL (cut-off 0.3-6.2), fT4 1.4 ± 0.4 ng/dL (cut-off 0.8-2.0 ng/dL). Correlation analysis was showed the significance of Tg and TSH (p< 0.05) and Tg with fT4 (p< 0.05). The significance analysis of Tg with TSH and fT4 may be evaluated as indicator  for thyroid function in school-aged children in iodine-deficiency endemic areas. Hasil studi populasi menunjukkan, Tg tampak menjadi indikator berharga untuk status tiroid di daerah endemik defisiensi iodium, tetapi belum sepenuhnya dieksplorasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengukur hubungan antara kadar Tg serum dengan kadar TSH dan fT4 sebagai indikator alternatif status tiroid pada anak usia sekolah. Ini merupakan penelitian potong-lintang dari sampel 398 anak usia sekolah berumur 10-12 tahun di tiga kabupaten dengan tingkat endemisitas defisiensi iodium yang berbeda, yakni Pati sebagai kabupaten endemik ringan, Purbalingga sebagai kabupaten endemik ringan, dan Malang sebagai kabupaten endemik berat. Tg, TSH dan fT4 serum diukur dengan menggunakan metode Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). Analisis data menggunakan paket program Epi Info, data dianalisis secara deskriptif dan analisis bivariat berupa uji korelasi. Penelitian ini mendapatkan hasil rerata kadar Tg di tiga kabupaten sebesar 14,3 ± 11,1 ng/mL dengan cut off 2-50 ng/mL, sedangkan rerata kadar TSH di tiga kabupaten sebesar 3,7 ± 2,2 µIU/mL dengan cut-off 0,3-6,2 µIU/mL dan rerata kadar fT4 sebesar 1,4 ± 0,4 ng/dL dengan cut-off 0,8-2,0 ng/dL. Uji korelasi menunjukkan hubungan yang signifikan antara kadar Tg dengan TSH (p< 0,05). Demikian juga hubungan antara kadar Tg dan fT4, menunjukkan hasil yang signifikan (p< 0,05). Although it has been known that exclusive breastfeeding has many benefits and encouraged by the government, but the proportion of exclusive breasfeeding is still low, including Bogor. One of the the reason for the failure in exclusive breastfeeding is the prelacteal feeding practice among newborn babies. This analysis was conducted to provide information on the determinants of prelacteal feeding practice in Kebon Kelapa and Ciwaringin Village in Bogor, in 2012. The data for this analysis was came from the child growth and development cohort study conducted in Kebon Kelapa and Ciwaringin, Bogor in 2012. Participants of the study were 91 mothers with her newborn babies. The data were analysed with descriptive analysis, bivariate analysis with chi square, and multivariate analysis using logistic regression. The results showed that mode of delivery, rooming-in care and time of breastfeeding after delivery were significantly associated with prelacteal feeding practice (p<0,05). The major determinant factor of prelacteal feeding practice was non rooming-in care (OR: 5.86; 95% CI: 1.17, 29.35) after controlling the time of breastfeeding after delivery. Postpartum mothers that not cared in the same room with the baby had risk 5.86 times for give the baby prelacteal food compared with postpartum mothers that cared in the same room with their baby. Mothers who breastfeed their baby more than 1 hour after delivery had risk of 4.87 times for give the baby prelacteal food compared with mothers who breastfeed less than 1 hour after delivery. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the implementation of Baby Friendly Hospitals program in maternal and child health services, especially the implementation of rooming-in care for mother and child, so that the mother can breastfeed immediately after birth so that the baby does not need to be given food or prelacteal liquids. The government should provide strict sanctions for hospitals that have not held a rooming-in care for mother and child . Salah satu penyebab kegagalan praktik ASI eksklusif adalah pemberian makanan prelaktal pada anak. Analisis ini dilakukan untuk memberikan informasi mengenai determinan pemberian makanan prelaktal pada bayi di Kelurahan Kebon Kelapa dan Kelurahan Ciwaringin, Kota Bogor. Analisis ini menggunakan data penelitian Kohor Tumbuh Kembang Anak di Kelurahan Kebon Kelapa dan Ciwaringin, Kota Bogor, tahun 2012. Responden dalam analisis ini adalah 91 ibu yang memiliki bayi baru melahirkan. The objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between nutritional status, cognitive development, and motor development in preschool children. This survey was conducted on 73 children aged 3-5 years in Bogor regency, West Java . This study showed that 30.2 percent children had low height for age. 98.6 percent children had normal birth weight and 76.7 percent children had normal birth length. Children’s level of cognitive (54.8%) and fine motor development (68.5%) were low, while gross motor development level were moderate (41.1%). Factors that significantly associated with children’s nutritional status were mother’s height, children’s energy and protein sufficiency level, and birth length of children . Factors that significantly associated with c hildren’s fine and gross motor development were children’s nutritional status, early education, and age of children. Factors that significantly associated with children’s cognitive development were children’s nutritional status, age of children, early education, and children care practices of mother . Children’s nutrient sufficiency level, especially energy and protein, has significant association to their nutritional status and development Keywords : nutritional status, cognitive development, motor development, preschool children ABSTRAK Kegagalan pertumbuhan ( stunting ) pada anak usia di bawah lima tahun (balita) dapat menyebabkan berbagai gangguan perkembangan, termasuk perkembangan kognitif dan motorik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kaitan antara status gizi, perkembangan kognitif dan motorik pada anak usia prasekolah. Penelitian berdesain survei ini dilakukan pada 73 anak usia 3-5 tahun di Desa Cibanteng, Kabupaten Bogor, Jawa Barat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 30,2 persen anak balita berstatus gizi tergolong pendek, 98,6 persen anak memiliki berat badan lahir normal, dan 76,7 persen anak mempunyai panjang lahir normal. Tingkat perkembangan kognitif (54,8%) dan motorik halus (68,5%) anak tergolong rendah, sementara tingkat perkembangan motorik kasar anak tergolong sedang (41,1%). Faktor-faktor yang berhubungan signifikan dengan status gizi balita adalah tinggi badan ibu, tingkat kecukupan energi dan protein balita dan panjang badan lahir balita. Faktor-faktor yang berkaitan signifikan dengan tingkat perkembangan motorik kasar dan motorik halus balita adalah status gizi balita, lama mengikuti PAUD dan usia balita. Faktor-faktor yang berhubungan signifikan dengan tingkat perkembangan kognitif balita adalah status gizi balita, usia balita, lama mengikuti PAUD dan praktik pengasuhan balita oleh ibu. Nationall y, there is a serious problem on the safety of street food near schoool , therefore an effort is needed to overcome the problem. The objective of this study was to develop a simple model to solve the safety problem of street food near school . The study was conducted in two steps. The first step was done in 10 primary schools to determin e the problem and to defin e the method of problem solv ing. O ne school with the worst food safety problem was selected as area of research . The second step was to implement the defined method in to the selected primary school. Descriptive and inferensia analysis were applied in this study . Based on street food safety risk evaluation, the defin ed methods are nutrition extension and assistance to street food vendors in primary school SDN \"D\". Food vendors at SD N “D” were mostly (88.9%) m ale , with age between 18-40 years old . Their education background was elementary school (44.7%) and classified as poor (55.6%) . Knowledge , attitudes, and practices of most food vendors after nutrition extention and assistance are better than before. Pearson correlation test showed a positive significant correlation between knowledge and food safety attitudes (p 0.05) , nutrition and food safety knowledge , with food safety practice (p> 0.05) , and nutrition and food safety attitude with food safety practices (p> 0 . 05). Overall , the nutrition and food safety extension and assistance have been effective in improving knowledge , attitudes and practices of the food vendor but it needed more extensive and periodical assistance to sustain the impatct. Secara nasional ada persoalan serius terhadap masalah keamanan makanan jajanan anak sekolah dasar sehingga perlu diupayakan cara mengatasinya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan model sederhana upaya mengatasi masalah keamanan makanan jajanan anak sekolah. Penelitian dilakukan dalam dua tahap. Tahap pertama dilakukan di 10 sekolah dasar (SD) untuk menentukan masalah dan upaya yang akan dilakukan . S atu SD dengan masalah keamanan makanan jajanan yang terparah kemudian ditentukan sebagai lokasi. Pada tahap kedua , upaya yang telah dirumuskan , diterapkan pada SD terpilih. Data diol a h secara deskriptif dan inferensia. Berdasarkan tinjauan terhadap resiko ketidakamanan makanan jajanan , upaya yang dilakukan adalah penyuluhan gizi dan pendampingan pada SD N “D”.
