This report presents data on the diversity of diatoms, obtained by analyzing phytoplankton samples from the southwestern part of the Laptev Sea in August 2017. In total, 20 species of diatoms from 12 genera were identified, among which the richest by species is the genus Chaetoceros (8 species).","PeriodicalId":305989,"journal":{"name":"Issues of modern algology (Вопросы современной альгологии)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126421734","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The existence of this group has been known for a relatively long led to the description of wide morphological variability. In my contribution, I briefly summarize the possible causes of this morphological variability (effect of the environment and phenotypic plasticity during ontogenesis) and current knowledge about the taxonomy of these protist organisms, showing the most recent changes and descriptions of new genera.","PeriodicalId":305989,"journal":{"name":"Issues of modern algology (Вопросы современной альгологии)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121299723","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An assessment of the change in the distribution of cyanobacteria biomass in a latitudinal gradient along the Volga cascade is presented. The seasonal and long-term (1954–2016) dynamics of the abundance, biomass and the ratio of functional groups of cyanobacteria in the Rybinsk Reservoir, the second largest in the cascade of Volga reservoirs, are analyzed. A positive long-term trend of abundance and diversity of cyanobacteria and the leveling of their biomass between reservoirs along a cascade in recent years has been established. An increase in the abundance and diversity of nonheterocystous species was established in the direction from the Upper to the Lower Volga and during the long-term succession of phytoplankton of the Rybinsk Reservoir. This is associated with an increase of water mineralization. Based on current research in the 2010s of the Volga, Kama and Don cascade reservoirs, 14 variants of microcystin structures were identified, the diversity of which depended on the composition of the producing species. Using PCR analysis, the main producers of microcystins (Microcystis and Dolichospermum) were identified. Cyanobacteria Cuspidothrix issatschenkoi and/or Raphidiopsis mediterranea have been identified as possible producers of neurotoxic anatoxin-a in the Tsimlyansk Reservoir. It was shown that water temperature and nitrogen were the greatest importance for development of microcystin-producing species of cyanobacteria.","PeriodicalId":305989,"journal":{"name":"Issues of modern algology (Вопросы современной альгологии)","volume":"108 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122552647","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the basis of the mechanism of light-limited growth is the thesis on photosynthesis having light and dark phases. The product of the first phase is carbohydrates, which are used in the dark phase as a source of energy and carbon skeletons for the synthesis of all structural components of cells .Rates of the processes are described by linear splines. The equations describing the dependence of the specific growth rate on the intensity of the acting light are obtained.","PeriodicalId":305989,"journal":{"name":"Issues of modern algology (Вопросы современной альгологии)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121601173","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is now generally accepted that the best approach for creating a new, more natural classification of “little green balls” is an approach that combines morphological, ecological, physiological and molecular phylogenetic methods. Strains ACSSI 104 and ACSSI 144 were isolated from solonetz and chestnut soil (Volgograd region, Russia). Their cells have a typical Nannochloris-like morphology: single spherical or subspherical cells, chloroplast single, parietal, cup-shaped, without pyrenoid, but with starch grains in it. Old cells accumulate numerous oil droplets in cytoplasm. Reproduction by 2−4 autospores. Autospores of both strains are equal size and exhibit liberation by rupture of sporangium cell wall. Zoospores and sexual reproduction not observed. Both strains are part of independent cluster closely related to genera Marvania, Pumiliosphaera, Nannochloris and Gloeotila. A comparative analysis of morphological (cell size, chloroplast type) and ultrastructural characteristics (structure of cell wall and lamellar system), features of reproduction (asexual reproduction by autospores only) and habitat (soil) with other members of the Nannochloris-clade, as well as results of analysis of 18S rRNA gene and ITS2 secondary structure of the studied strains, allowed us to propose a new genus – Edaphochloris with the type species – E. andreyevae. The report was prepared based on the materials of the V All-Russian Scientific Conference with international participation \"Algae: problems of systematics, ecology and use in monitoring\", 2021.","PeriodicalId":305989,"journal":{"name":"Issues of modern algology (Вопросы современной альгологии)","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127583603","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is the North-Eastern border of Fucus communities. 87 species of macrophyte algae were identified in the communities. The variation of species diversity as an indicator of community structure is determined depending on the leading abiotic factors – salinity, surf content, and substrate type. The species diversity of macrophyte algae in the littoral of the Eastern Murmansk is determined primarily by surf activity. Under similar hydrological conditions, soil features determine the density of thickets and, consequently, the number of species found in a single sample. Salinity fluctuations at which it drops below 15‰ are critical for most species and fundamentally change the structure of communities. The highest values of the indices of species diversity were observed in the littoral areas of the coast that are poorly protected from the surf.","PeriodicalId":305989,"journal":{"name":"Issues of modern algology (Вопросы современной альгологии)","volume":"93 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117120943","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
